Aircraft Collides With A Truck On The Runway (Reconstruction)

A charter flight operated by TAROM, a Boeing 737-300 YR-BGC that, on 30 December 2007, during the takeoff procedure, hit a service car carrying out repair work on lighting equipment on the runway at Henri Coandă International Airport in Otopeni, Romania.

The minute I saw the weather visibility and knew this would be a collision, I knew there would be a mention at the end of "no ground radar". What airport that handles passenger jets has no ground radar? This was not the primary cause of the accident, but this wouldn't have happened if there was radar. There have been so many accidents due to insufficient visibility for the control tower. This reminds me of the Russian crash where the ATC person let maintenance trucks onto the runway under similar circumstances, but fell asleep before the plane landed. That one was much worse.

This reminds me of a crash in the Philippines where a runway was under construction, poorly marked and machinery left on the runway. Bad weather and a nighttime departure ended very badly when the plane hit equipment on takeoff.

They did. - They had the brains of a carrot, which is higher than turnip, and which was the standard for the day however, what was required was carrot, plus turnip and an orange, which now is the new standard!😂
