Like I said earlier today, love your sense of humor. And man these D'Angelicos are just so sweet, I love the wonky headstocks. Played one of their guitars at my local GC last year and was impressed
3:50 I don't fully understand what the 'double thickness' refers to, to something physical in the PUs or to the sound/signal the produce. I think an issue of its own is whether you want a thicker sound from your filtertrons or not. I wouldn't, for I prefer 'periodically correct'. This is important to know when you start looking for FT guitars. May save you a lot of time knowing this beforehand. Matter of preference, of course, but to paraphrase Phil McKnight; Know your taste. 😉
I've never even held one, let alone play on one, but it's a gorgeous looking guitar. I'd prefer the Ice Tea version personally, but damn, that is one nice axe. If I wasn't broke, I'd consider buying this guitar. Very nice Landon.
Bottom line! D'angelico guitars are great Indonesia manufactured guitars, with great Seymour pickups. Your narration actually sounds like self promotion. Just get into the spec's, playability and tone.just the guitar and eliminate the ego. The guitar is fantastic. That's all
I bought an SS Premier without F holes from the first run a few years ago. Being a lover of the art deco style it was the headstock that drew me in. It came with the lowest action I have ever seen, i.e. the strings were flat against the fingerboard and it had filthy frets. My expectations were not high! But after a quick bridge adjustment and fret polish it played great And it sounded as good as any semi I have had.
The big draw for me D'Angelico-wise is the iconic tailpiece with art deco NY skyline, like this one has on the truss rod. Sometimes, looks are what sells the guitar. This beauty needs a little more bling.
I bought DC deluxe (for 1600 bucks), as a best price/performance ratio 335 option. That guitar has everything. SD a4 pups with split option, locking tuners, great neck profile. Somebody could prefer ssteel frets, but otherwise, you cannot really find anything missing...
for solid body i would go to Sire due to the great necks they are putting together in ST an T shape bodies.. for semihollow i prefer D´Angelico. Particularly the Deluxe Mini DC with Seth Lover pickups.♥

I've got an ebony excel dc,bridge and tailpiece are out of line so strings are offset on the neck,high e kept getting caught under badly seated last fret and i had to replace the toggle switch after 2 weeks,oh yeah and it has neck dive when on the strap,only kept it because it was half price in a sale, that said though it sounds great looks great and has my favourite neck of all my guitars but i still wish I'd got an epiphone sheraton!
I have this exact D'Angelico, as well as the Epiphone 335 Trad Pro. I much prefer the build qualify and the neck on the D'Angelico The pickups are better too; that said, the Epiphone 335 Pickups do rock, and are the best and only really distinguishing part of Epiphone to me. Enough that I'll keep both.
Another great video - love the humour which coupled with your detailed content always makes for a great watch (my wife who has absolutely no interest in guitars, was laughing along - which means your on to something) 👍🏻

I love my D’Angelico. Mine has the stair step tailpiece which really looks great and gives it that vintage vibe in my opinion. The pickups in mine are different. They are the Kent Armstrong and sound amazing. I’d gladly put mine up against a 335 any time.
What about the pots? Are they full-sized? Wish we could have seen the inside of this one, but that IS a deal! Almost made me want to buy an ugly 335-style guitar with this demo. I like the head stock and the tuners a lot. Almost sounded like the beginning of Zeke's "302 Cubic Inch V8 Powered Blues" at the end there. YOU BETTER NOT START THAT CAR, YOU BETTER NOT!
I have the Epiphone Pro 335 and it is pretty good. I have the D'Angelico Premier SS, very similar guitar. Without a doubt, the D'Angelico is a far better playing and sounding guitar.
The clear coat ones where you can see the wood grain are the best to start on. Once you get the hang of that, move on to green (or red if you’re particularly daring). Only then should you try any sunbursts (a blue burst like this one don’t count). Once you’re really comfortable with the sunburst, then you can move on to any solid color (personally, I went back to a green one because I really liked the sound). After you’ve been playing professionally for a few years, then you can start looking into colors like a blue burst. Careful though, they can be tricky sometimes.
Landon, did you know that De Angelo was Chet Atkins first guitar before his deal with Gretsch? They're beautiful guitars, like Gretsch. I've never played one but hope to soon enough. I have to add, I have three Gretsches and filtertrons rock! They are clear and clean much more so than regular humbuckers. Filtertrons on this De Angelco is a bonus.
@@landonbailey Oh yeah, I believe you. I was always a single coil guy, but when I got my first Gretsch and played through the filtertrons I added that to my collection. Filtertrons have a better sound IMO than mini-humbuckers.
What a gorgeous guitar and that blue I like too. I'm looking for another guitar and now for the price and pickups, wow. I liked your comment about Gibson and not eating because that's what it would be for me. The only thing is its a big guitar but sounds great.

you will pay full HST and possibly duties depending on the country of manufacturing. Also there are restrictions on sales to Canada due to distribution rights, so you may not be able to order certain brands. so is it worth it, probably not.

I'm a blue guitar guy too! I have a blue sparkle G&L, a metallic blue flake jazz bass, a washed blue flamed maple, and a transparent blue sire.
