- The fifth wave of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is the worst wave yet! I'm still holding out hope that wave six will be incredible, but that is looking slimmer every day.

The reason Nintendo wanted to include these Tour tracks into 8 Deluxe because Mario Kart Tour will eventually shut down. So Nintendo's idea is to prevent these tracks as well of its content from being lost, forgotten and unplayable after Tour shuts down. And do keep in mind that Mario Kart Tour and their tracks are the main reason why the Booster Course Pass exist in the first place since Wave 1. Like it or not, more city tracks are coming in Wave 6, like I said on my other comment.
As much as I hate Tour I guess I have to thank that game for the booster course pass.

I might have agreed with this video if I were 12 years old, but now this seems pretty incoherent. Not expecting more Tour tracks after the first three waves is unbelievably naïve. Keep in mind that tracks like Airship Fortress and Delfino Square (which I also love) will most likely return in MK9, where more detail will be given in the visual department.
You're right, I knew there was going to be city tracks in every wave, but I'm just upset that in waves 4 and 5 we got 3 instead of just two. Most of the city tracks just feel the same to me, and I've never been a fan of them. So I'm upset because the 3rd city track takes away a spot that could have been filled by a more interesting track. I would rather have another GBA track like riverside park or sunset wilds than Bangkok or Amsterdam, because at least the GBA courses feel somewhat original.
And I have to agree with you on the Mario Kart 9 point. Because Nintendo hasn't been putting effort into the booster course tracks, I guess I would rather have Airship Fortress and Delphino Square come back with a lot more effort in a new game.
I don't even mind DS Mario Circuit in the BCP DLC but that track looks too bright and oversaturated compared to any other Mario Circuit in the game and even SNES MC3 is oversaturated and too bright compared to the GBA and Wii U Mario Circuits
Wave 5 is still oversaturated (except for Squeaky Clean Sprint but I think it's brighter than GBA Ribbon Road) but at least it has way better color correction and lighting values than in previous waves
I hope Wave 6 will have tracks that will have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy much more detail than in the previous waves AND I hope that EVERY ONE of the tracks from Wave 6 will be EXACTLY in line with base 8/8DX GRAPHICALLY ON ALL FRONTS, AND I hope they have ONLY actual textures onto them and not vertex colors and not just normal maps, ao maps, and spm maps, and I REALLY DO HOPE they do not separate the AO and ALB maps from each other
AND AT LEAST Athens, Los Angeles, and Vancouver have really incredible grass textures that look like they're from SNES Donut Plains 3

So you didn't care about the graphics in Wave 1, but were mad at them in Wave 5? Kinda hypocritical if you ask me. Also Bangkok is not generic, it's just as unique as Singapore, if not even more. Wave 5 is definitely not the best, (Wave 4 is), but it isn't the worst.
Also Tour is a real Mario Kart game, considered by Nintendo themselves. Being on phones doesn't make something not main-line.
So nobody’s complaining that we have 4 rainbow roads (soon to be 5) but 4 Mario circuits out of 96 tracks is unacceptable? Don’t get me wrong I love the rainbow roads and I would’ve preferred something like Delfino Square or Airship Fortress but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
Okay, you got me there. I just think that rainbow road is a much more interesting theme than Mario Circuit. So I wouldn't mind 4 rainbow roads.
I think for me, I wish we had more bowser castles in the game. Theres quite a lot of track variety for these and theres so little here
Absolutely, the fact that there are 4 Mario Circuit tracks and 4 Rainbow roads, but only 1 Bowsers castle is insane. Good news is that wave 6 will allegedly have a Bowsers castle which would be really nice.

Mario kart tours tracks rotate every two weeks, and the servers will eventually shut down, so it’s good to preserve them all here

Wave 5 is my second favorite wave and I don’t agree but that’s fine. Also it’s a good thing that the city tracks are in 8 because you cant play them whenever you want in tour and tours severs won’t stay up forever so this is a good way to preserve yours content where you like it or not. Enjoyed the video despite not agreeing with you.

In my personal opinion, Wave 5 stands out as the most exceptional wave we have encountered so far. As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of Wave 6, it's worth noting that the songs we were blessed with in Wave 5 were absolute bangers, for the most part. I can't seem to find any significant flaws in this wave. The only track that could have been improved was Sunsets Wilds. Nevertheless, Wave 5 remains unparalleled, and I can't fathom why anyone would speak ill of it. It almost seems as though you have a vendetta against Wave 5, but I implore you to reconsider. There's no denying that it's the best wave we've received, and it's important to acknowledge that.

Toad factory will probably be in the next Mario kart so they can spend more time improving the track, so in the end it’s better it doesn’t come in the booster course pass because it’ll be better.

I hate Tour as much as the next guy, but I don't flip out about it! You're overreacting, it's not that big a deal. Yes, Wave 5 was a letdown in comparison to Wave 4, but I'm not making a rant video about it where I basically get Nostalgia Critic levels of angry.

Yeah he thinks tours servers will be up forever and they won’t. This allows tours content not to be lost when the tour servers shut down. It’s a valid a fair reason for the tour tracks to be in the game whether he likes them or not and I don’t agree with the video but other than the tour content preservation I am fine disagreeing.
I'm honestly really glad they're prioritizing new Tour tracks. Barring maybe Airship Fortress and DK Mountain I straight up don't care what retros get in beyond this point. The city tracks are fun, and the new courses are fantastic. I don't understand the whole "Tour tracks are oversaturated" argument when there's really no more good picks from previous Mario Karts that have a fighting chance of being in the game, besides, they're practically new courses, so that's a win in my book.
For me, its less that theyre oversaturated and more that i dont like most tour tracks.
I feel like they werent designed with a switch in mind, and thus there are some really big turns thats just dont feel right. And also, i just get lost, the number of times ive headed down the arrows is beyond count.I feel like theres too much infomation to process when racing these courses, the track doesnt stand out and that alone (regardless of the layout), makes it a pain to drive
Ill admit, athens was actually really good though, and i thought vancouver was ok. It was a pleasant surprise, and my partner and I werent looking at other peoples reactions to determine our opinions, we just straight up liked these more than a lot of the tour tracks earlier.
Yeah, I thought the changing laps thing on the city tracks was a novel concept at first, but now I'm getting sick of it, and I wish they were just regular 3 lap tracks. Vancouver would benefit from that because thr first lap of Vancouver is really good, but then the last two laps are terrible.
Yep, AND also, we're getting 2 Tour city tracks and 2 nitro tracks in Wave 6. And Wii Rainbow Road is *DEFINITELY 100%* confirmed to be the last track for Wave 6, and I hope that *AT LEAST* a couple of tracks from Wave 6 will have the *100% EXACT SAME GRAPHICS AS IN MARIO KART 8/BASE MARIO KART 8 DELUXE.* I also hope that Wave 6 will overhaul *EVERY SINGLE* BCP DLC track *GRAPHICALLY* to make them be *EXACTLY 100%* in line with the MK8/MK8DX base game on *EVERY SINGLE FRONT*
I have to disagree with your point on the amount of circuit tracks in the game. Sure, there are a lot of circuit/circuit-like tracks in the game (8 in total, the second highest in the entire series behind Tour), but compared to other tracks in the game, it only takes up about 8% of the tracks. To put that into perspective, every other game in the series is in the range of about 22% (MKDS) and about 11% (Mario Kart Tour), and the 11% is COUNTING the several city track variants separately.
TL;DR: MK8DX, compared to other games in the series, has the least amount of Circuit tracks compared to other tracks in the game, in the series.
My biggest complaint with wave 5? 5 waves in and STILL no new kart parts.
And STILL no new items nor battle stages

You are not going to Rome Avanti when it comes to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. You complain about LA Laps and Vancouver Velocity being more of the same? Rome Avanti is nothing but more of the same; everything it has to offer can already be seen in Athens Dash or New York Minute. The music is also just okay at best.
You might like Madrid Drive, though. I'll admit, its first impressions might not be that great, but it has a bunch of unique areas to drive through as well as more than one hazard (revolutionary for a city track). The music also kinda goes hard.

I think Wave 5 is my 2nd most favourite wave behind Wave 3, it was almost as Amazing as wave 3 but sadly due to the lightning problem Mario kart 8 Deluxe as Sunset wilds doesn't have the background change, i would rather have Yoshi desert, it as a great remake in tour! But iverall pretty good wave! The feather cup is my 2nd most favourite dlc cup behind the moon cup! Athènes dash was the best city course by far due to how unique it was, Daisy cruiser was just great ! I love the theme! MOONVIEW HIGHWAY MY BOY!!!! Seriously this track is Amazing i'm so glad they brought it back ! And Squeaky clean sprint was the cherry on top, i love how this track looks, and also the alternative path above the Toilet, great stuff ! Also Koopa cape was better than i expected, i knew it would not be as good as the og but it looked great, they kept the music change and turning the pipe section into anti Gravity was a good idea!
I'm glad you enjoy wave 5 so much, and I probably have to agree that the feather cup is really good. Actually, most of my problems with wave 5 come from the other cup (I don't remember any of the cup names lol).

Most of the city tracks feel the same to me. Sure, they have some iconic features here and there, but half of the time racing in these tracks is just going down straightaways with just generic buildings along side of you. And I guess this is opinion based, but I feel like many of the city tracks just aren't fun to race on. The lap changing thing was cool at first, but as time goes on, I find myself wishing that all the laps would stay the same. But that's probably just me.
Also, I am very passionate about the game, but I thought it would be more entertaining if I was as angry as possible. So yes, a lot of my opinions are exaggerated.

i feel like wave 5 has been the most controversial wave personally i love it and i genuinely cant think of a single track that i dislike but idk, could be nostalgia w/ koopa cape but i kinda like the way the tube is compared to wii since the halfpipe w/ boxes just adds more strategy. only thing thats bad imo is that the moonview boost panels randomize each race LOL
Before I made this video, I was under the impression that most people didn't like wave 5, mainly because I kept seeing videos like "what went wrong with wave 5?" But the comments have shown to me that a lot of people really like the wave. I personally am not impressed by the wave, and I think part of that is my strong bias against Tour, especially all the city tracks we have been getting recently.

@MarioandJulius I've never been a fan of the city tracks, I'm sorry. I was cool with them originally, and I was fine with having 2 of them in each wave. But I'm mad about having 3 because I don't like them, and I think that spot could have been filled by a more interesting track. because those were also made for tour originally, and i personally have seen more love for them than the city tracks
as someone who especially loves athens dash (currently my favorite bcp track), i know how it is to see these greatly differing opinions, but in the end there's good things about the dlc that we can agree on right?
i.e. at least we got a bcp! 48 returning tracks -- despite a whopping 21 either debuting in tour or originally being created for tour -- is allot of new additions to mk8dx
@cpcantimark yes, the tour originals that aren't city tracks have been hit or miss, but I do in fact enjoy Squeaky Clean Spring and especially Ninja Hideaway. It's the city tracks that I don't like. The only one that I really enjoy is Athens because it doesn't feel like a city track, it feels like it's own original idea and it's one of the best tracks in the BCP. Most of the city tracks to me feel like just driving in between buildings with an interesting thing in the background every once in a while. I'm also getting tired of all 3 laps being different, like the first lap of Vancouver is incredible and really interesting, but the next two laps are bland. There are a few parts in the script that I could have written better. What I meant to say here was "Tour City Track." I agree, Ninja Hideaway and Yoshi's Island easily clear all city tracks.
im not even gonna talk about how mediocre some of your opinions are. wave 3 is honestly my least favorite. besides maple treeway and boo lake the wave is just mid track after mid track. and after saying you dont care about graphics in wave 1 you proceed to rant about athens dash for 10 minutes. i feel like you made this video just to be different when every track in waves 4 and 5 is miles better than most tracks in most waves, especially wave 3 besides sunset wilds, boo lake, and riverside, bangkok, and maple treeway. also sky high is super overhated. the track is a lot of fun and the floatiness adds to the above the clouds feel plus adds a shortcut. also you cant be complaining about tour tracks when you said how you really liked berlin and that is literally the most generic one. that was my rant about your rant. your opinions are bad. thats my conclusion lol

What do you mean wave 2 is worse than the first one? Well technically turnip cup is worse but some tracks in the propeller cup move it up higher than the first one. Snowland, Mushroom Gorge, and Sky High Sunday put it higher.

Wave 5 brought us the best cup in the whole game(before Wave 6). We got the most unique Tour track in the game so far, Athens Dash, then 2 banger retros that are Daisy Cruiser and Moonview Highway. To finish it off, we got the second best nitro in the game, Squeeky Clean Sprint.
@@DrTexas09The other cup is almost the same story. Who dosent want Koopa Cape and Vancouver back to back in the same cup? Both phenomenal tracks. LA is pretty good. But this cup suffers from a butchered Sunset Wilds.
@@bitstimandwesker8896 I don't fully understand why people are hating on Sunset Wilds. Yeah, the sun doesn't set. but people just see no sunset and just disregard the other great parts of the track. It is the only savanna themed track in MK8, and the music fits the scenery well. There are interesting obstacles and fun shortcuts. But are people looking at that, no, because there is no sunset.

Yeah, the Booster Course Pass has been a real mixed bag. The city Tour tracks are my least favorite as they just feel completely generic and sterile. Mario Kart is all about wacky and creative venues and the real-world cities just stick out like a sore thumb as completely uninteresting. I also hope Wave 6 goes out with a bang and not a whimper, but we'll have to wait and see.
Prepare for 2 more cities in wave 6, they're not going anywhere.

I was a big fan of Shroom Ridge when it first came out and when I made this video, but ever since I made this video I've started to like it less and less.
Also, I would like to argue that Luigi Circuit from Wii and Mario Circuit from SNES are worse than Toad Circuit, but idk, I'm very biased towards Mario Kart 7.

snes mario circuit has the excuse that it's the first of its kind it's 1-1 the mario kart track, of course it's gonna re-appear. luigi circuit wii is on the same level of bland.

theres a strong case that this isnt the end of 8s dlc tracks. if the booster course pass came clear out of nowhere and tour is shutting down, i'd think nintendo wants to salvage as much as they can into 8. diddy and funky were fan favorites that weve all wanted. pauline is a mario icon as the original peach, and peachette is... eh. whatever.

honestly the best part of Wave 5 in my opinion was the Tour tracks. the remade tracks from actual Mario Kart games, like Koopa Cape and Sunset Wilds, were terrible for the most part

Here’s my thought on the waves
-wave one is garbage, the closest thing to a base game track is probably Choco Mountain
-wave two is actually not half bad. I honestly loved Waluigi Pinball and Snow land, Sydney Sprint had an absolute banger, and fight me on this, SNES Mario Circuit 3 isn’t terrible. Definitely far from great, but the lighting makes it kinda cool. Sky High Sunday is a bit too colorful, but I enjoyed the shortcut
-wave three was really good. While I can’t say I am in love with a few of the tracks like London loop and Berlin Byways (except for the soundtrack) peach gardens was mind blowing. I loved it 30th rainbow Road is a little rough around the edges but it’s a good track nonetheless, and Mary mountain well graphically it looks perfect to. I feel like it could’ve use a few more sharper turns. Maple Treeway was decent. I feel like the textures could’ve been a little bit better but the lighting and the giant wigglers on top of the tree was just so cool. Oh and boo lake was awesome.
-Wave four was a bit of a mixed bag honestly. Well, I absolutely loved something like Riverside Park. I really can’t say the same about another track like DS Mario circuit that one is really boring. Bangkok rush was pretty fun. Singapore speedway is an absolute blast. Waluigi stadium had some of the best textures in the booster course pass almost up with the bass game and Yoshi’s Island. While it has those typical Tour textures, has a great layout and I love the little Yoshi coins.
-Wave five was honestly pretty good imo. I absolutely love the Vancouver Velocity it really stands out among the city tracks, especially with the anti-grav. Koopa Cape’s all right, but the original Wii one was way better. Squeaky clean sprint was actually amazing. I love the textures and it really did feel almost on par with a base tracks. Los Angeles lapse was kind of underwhelming. I’d like I’d rather be driving across the Hollywood sign not through an oil field. And sunset wilds oh boy, I have some stuff to say about this they took a gimmick that was really the only defining feature of this track that would really be a big game changer for the game and just took it out. What were they thinking doing that and not to mention the shy guy is jumping out of a tent in the original was just such a cute detail but seriously that’s all they have now I mean the textures are good but like whatever.

Honestly, I've come around on wave 5 a little bit, but I still don't like it as much as some of the other waves.

I mean yeah, back in the day when hardware was limited, they had to reuse themes for tracks. But the days of having multiple of the same tracks should be over, that's why I'm disappointed with all of the Mario Circuits.

Lol, I lost you at the very beginning of the video? I get it, I know Toad Circuit is a widely hated track, but I just can't bring myself to hate it that much. Maybe it's because of my bias towards Mario Kart 7.
Also, I see how it could have been misinterpreted that I thought Mario Circuit 3 and Sky High Sundae were top 2 worst. What I said was "two OF the worst tracks," not "THE two worst." There are plenty of tracks worse than MC3, like Toads Turnpike, Excite Bike Arena, Grumble Volcano, or Tokyo Blur, in my opinion of course. I'm sure that most people wouldn't agree with what I just said.

Wii Rainbow Road is definitely going to be in Wave 6 since it was in Mario Kart Tour. And 4 more tracks from Tour are also coming, 2 Cities, and 2 Non-Cities
Cities being Rome Avanti, and an unannounced Madrid Track
Two Non-City Tour Tracks are 2 Piranha Plant Tracks, Piranha Plant Cove and Pipeline. Also Piranha Plant Cove will change routes in each lap.
I was also upset with Mario circuit ds I wanted airship fortress it replaced airship fortress 😡

i agree, besides Wii Moonview Highway came back in 8 deluxe and it was literally the first time i played it since i never played it from its debut, and even though GBA Sunset Wilds does not have the sun setting mechanic, the graphics look really stunning to me as well as the music, i get why the mud is a bit low detail since its supposed to be a bit like water
