I've genuinely had this dumb wish that New Order would finally get in the (admittedly lame) rock n roll Hall of Fame and we'd get Barney and Hooky shaking hands on stage and playing a set with the original line up
Yeah, sadly I wasn't born early enough to have been able to experience the different ipromptu versions of all these songs I've been listening to my whole life. Even if I'm limited to the different recordings out there, they're good enough to relisten to indefinitely anyway so I suppose I at least have that.
I was fortunate to hear some live versions of some songs by the Cure and Violent Femmes when they were up here, but missed NO last time they were here. And Joy Division... 😔
Regarding Hooky saying "you remember what happened last time". I think that's a reference to a riot they caused in Rotterdam a few years earlier when they only played for 45 mins and the audience kicked off big time.
NO's the only this important band that was on stage like they were rehearsing or still working on the songs yet this era was so cool, not a bad song from Movement to Technique
Para mim TPK do NO esta no mesmo nível que Sister Ray esta para toda uma geração de músicos. A do NO para a Indie Rock e a do VU para todas as gerações de guitar bands. Músicas de referências do tipo "...é assim que se faz esse tipo de som."
Either New Order was having a bit of a resurgence about a year ago or the digital targeted marketing of my data was leading to a bunch of New Order collabs w a handful of m favorite brands. I was psyched to see the AdidasXNewOrder trainers that came out a couple yrs ago and snagged a pair that I have yet to wear. I was even more surprised to see my hands down fav street wear fashion company Pleasures do a full New Order capsule collection. I probably own 50 pieces by them in my wardrobe and had to have had some influence in their design direction after all the stuff I have bought from them (yeah I probably have a problem - shut up, lol). Needless to say, I grabbed a few NO pieces from that drop, too. Anyone else here notice that? Or is it just me?
Funny thing is that post-punk/goth (pre New Wave) was primarily British, but also were Music Videos very much as well at the time. So was it the new medium of music videos that helped the UK invade the US airwaves again, the experimental nature of the music and artistic expression going on at the time wanting to try new forms of expression and/or appealed so much in the US, or that said success in the US of these UK genres led to search for new ways of further invading pop culture in unique forms of media? Or maybe it was just the perfect storm of the technological, artistic and promotional climate back in the early-mid 80s? I am sincerely asking - would love to hear what people think about this topic. It is really interesting to me and want to know others' takes on it. *Edit - corrected typo "we're" to "were"
Lol taking esp ~5:40-6:00? I mean to his defense a) he's the lead rhythm, and taking his cues from her synth loop timing and more importantly b) it's Gillian - can you blame him? I don't know if I'd be able to even play around someone so gorgeous and talented, let alone comfortably create music to perform alongside her in front of thousands of people. That or he is watching her, nervously hoping she hits all her marks in the composition he put her in charge of performing, but pretty sure it's the first scenario (especially part B, lol - is in my case at least)
@@NicholasGarnerPDX yeah, but wondering what his mindset was then at the time. Obviously, smitten - she's amazing. But so is he so they were lucky to have came across one another
New Order,Joy Division,The Cure,Depeche Mode. Greatest music ever made.

Such an amazing band! Wish Peter and Bernard could bury the hatchet already. It'd be beyond great to see them all back together again.
one might bury the hatchet in each others heads but joking aside its sad the way it ended brilliant band

Perfect Kiss = the peak of recorded music

This one can actually become one of my favorites!! 🥺

This song is my fav from them.
The sound of my generation ❤️
❤️
Proud to say i was there.
Incredible performance. It's only 1985! New Order it's the best influence in the 80's music by far.
Best guitar solo ever. Add frogs and some cowbell you have a f#$%ing masterpiece.
Geniuses! Awesome blend of analog guitar and bass with digital drums and synth, music reinvented.
My favourite song by New Order
Superbly powerful version of such an iconic song. The band at its very peak.

Nostalgic for stuff I wasn't alive for
Even at the time, very few knew in the US.
Secondhand nostalgia.
@charleshope8856 my father (in his 60s) used to hear it a lot at clubs
So that’s the name of it
What a magnificent and timeless song ✨
Fantastic song!!

Dark and perfect years resonating
This is mind-blowingly good.
Amazingly layered!

NO's the only this important band that was on stage like they were rehearsing or still working on the songs yet this era was so cool, not a bad song from Movement to Technique

More cowbell!

The 80’s version of the British Invasion (NO, Cure, Smiths, DM).

Steve checking out Gillian the whole song!

They engaged in 93 and married in 94 so...

What happened last time?
My thoughts too.
Pretty sure there was a riot when they played in Rotterdam in 84
Any serious answers greatly appreciated!
There was a riot, like @nintyfanr said!
Is the crowd ok ? I’d be the dancing from the ceiling ❤
Hooky 🤟

With out hooky there is no new order !!!!!
They're doing just fine while he's off doing karaoke and living in the past.
The Frog Sounds... :D
Now this is New Order ... not that Tutti Frutti music complete rubbish...
That album kicked.
The perfect kiss became the forbidden one. ▪️🩸➕
They couldn't play it for a while because of issues with upgrading their synthesizers.
