Dark Matter is a sci-fi thriller series based on the blockbuster book by acclaimed, bestselling author Blake Crouch. The nine-episode series features an ensemble cast that includes Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi and Oakes Fegley.
Hailed as one of the best sci-fi novels of the decade, Dark Matter is a story about the road not taken. The series will follow Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton), a physicist, professor and family man who - one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago - is abducted into an alternate version of his life. Wonder quickly turns to nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the mind-bending landscape of lives he could have lived. In this labyrinth of realities, he embarks on a harrowing journey to get back to his true family and save them from the most terrifying, unbeatable foe imaginable: himself.
Crouch serves as executive producer, showrunner, and writer alongside executive producers Matt Tolmach and David Manpearl for Matt Tolmach Productions, and Joel Edgerton. Dark Matter is produced for Apple TV+ by Sony Pictures Television.

Dark Matter was meant as a limited series and covers the whole novel, as far as I know.

I hope this show does not get cancelled. Once the trailer indicated the show was about parallel worlds I knew I would be hooked. I grew up with Sliders (primarily seasons 1 to 3 and RIP Tracy Torme) and ended up watching Fringe later. It has been too long since multidimensional sci-fi was last on TV in a big way. Sure we have had a few movie specials and TV shorts, but Dark Matter is doing this form of sci-fi TV justice again. Just four episodes in and already there is so much room for speculation to be had about what could be coming up later in the season. This sneak peak further provokes the imagination. It is great to have Blake Crouch onboard assisting Apple TV with this adaptation.
Ok dude have you seen the German show Dark? Season 1 is the beginning, season 2 takes you for a ride and season 3 is wild. This show is really good and closest to that show. Also funny that they both have the work Dark.

The book it´s only one and have a closed story. Not surprised me if this will be a mini series, not a regular show.
I read the book straight after episode three last week because I was too impatient to see what happens next! 🤦🏻♀️ oops’ I know it’s bad but I had to find out what happens after they get in the box but then I read it all at once and now that’s gone too! I really like this world and those characters! And the series trailer looks different and interesting enough for it still to be really watchable despite reading the book!
Same here ... I read the book after episode 2 because I wanted more context. Its an incredible story and somehow the show has found a way to bring more out of the characters and the story. A bit of a slow build and we can tell what is happening but just finds a way to keep you hooked. Its incredible

Neat show I'm enjoying it. But can't anyone see that box? You'd think someone on some world would ask what the heck is this black box doing in the middle of nowhere. Makes no sense.

Look buddy, releasing each episode a week is not dumb, but releasing each episode of already existing material like a book is super dumb.
Just imagine that the series isnt out yet, that its gonna drop on june 26.
Well, the TV series has already deviated from the book somewhat, so even if you've read it, there are still reasons that the TV show can keep you in suspense.

Episode 4 is what really hooked me with the possibilities for this show. Check it out, and you might be hooked from there.
