Travel is an ADVENTURE not an EXPECTATION. Expectation is you hesitates of things should be going perfectly. Adventure is adjusting to good/worst case scenario and making it your own creation. Kumander D is an adventurer not a tourist of many expectation. Expectation is for a vacationer, where travel is for the adventurer, simple.
It is amazing hearing about how some people visit this country but end up living over there. I really enjoyed listening to you chat. Originally, I just stumbled onto your channel and found it fascinating you speaking a Filipino language and feeding your mum their food back in Wales. I actually thought you came back too soon but I am happy to see that I was wrong in that regard. That country is energising you, and your rapport, Kulas as well, with the locals is quite marvelous to watch. Just vlogging for a year is impressive, both you and Kulas have a sound taste in music that continues to impress and it really helps to add to the overall quality of your shows. I remember two of your videos caught me by surprise and I think I wrote, "Just, wow". Cheers for sharing, take it easy over there and keep smiling :)
I love how animated you are in telling your story. Do what you love, take good care of yourself. We your supporters will go along with you in your journey
Loving your no longer untold story :)). We Filipinos are one of the simplest and hospitable people in the world. We like being friendly wherever we go, that's why you relate much :)). Same here in UK, British are friendly and very approachable people. So blessed we are here in UK, while so envy with you while your exploring the remotest place in our country. Enjoy every bit mate!
I was like a grade schooler sitting cross legged listening intently to your story. You're such a good story teller. You immediately get the attention of your listener.
It's worth living around, side by side with people on the ground. The Philipines has this environment. You won't become lonely with smiling, hospitable Filipinos. There's more fun. Actually, filipinos welcome you and love you to be here.
"Why are you wandering around in the rain" 😆 Traveling with no particular place to go is like a leaf in the wind landing here and there. I didn't realize that you went to so many places before settling down in the southern part of the Philippines. It was great to hear your story, and thanks for sharing it. My wife and I have tickets booked for mid-October, and hopefully, the flight won't get canceled like the last four have been.
I love to hear people's "story". It is always fascinating how people got to where they are now. In fact, to me, I have never met a boring person that tells their story. It is the ones that keep their story unknown, then to be the boring/uninteresting people. I think that when KD is old and reflects on where he has been and what he has done, he will find that he had a very adventurous and interesting life. It doesn't have to be a perfect life, but it sure helps if it is an interesting life.
Grew up in Vito Cruz corner of Taal Street and Nene's Lechon. Thank you for taking us back to the beginning of your great adventure backpacking in the Phils. Always enjoy your storytelling. You should write your own memoir. I'll be the first one to grab a copy!
I know this is late; but I am GLAD you found the Philippines. The people deserve people who are truely sincere and just as nice as you seem to be. My wife and my family are partially from the Philippines and we are Chinoy ( Chinese Filipino). I am Chinese/Japanese and my wife is Chinese Pinay. I can see both in your eyes and in your mannerism how difficult is must have been in your travles as I am an old man now. However, to seek the place you call home is what we all are looking for. The old adage from Ancient Chinese Culture: With PROSPERITY there are no WARS! Kyle is a good guy and you both need to remember this moving foreward and POWERING ON! The Philippines is a place were you can find AMAZING PEOPLE!! GOD BLESS YOU and your FAMLY and FREINDS!
Great video. Love hearing open modest people telling their stories. Way better than the millions of TH-cam vloggers spewing out the same reviews of the same location or attraction or restaurant or food for the millionth time - as if they are the first to discover it and are the voice of expertise which is a feat in of itself considering they arrived the night before and will be moving on a day later.
Life always has a way of leading us down paths that we think lead nowhere but in the end, actually lead us to somewhere unexpectedly awesome. Thank you for sharing your story, Kumander!
I think you are happier here! I have been following your vlogs ever since. even when you went back in the UK. keep on vlogging kumander. the fishpond is another story. do things what makes you happy. Jesus Christ makes you complete!
A good biblical faith has more meaning in many relevant things also mentioned around here. It's not only the defined worldview which helps provide a framework to fit in as a human person especially in these days when everything is forcefully changing. Also the outlook into eternity isn't everything already, although a huge important aspect. But for us as not so content and happy humans which also have to deal with guilt coming from everyday life: the free unconstitutional Gospel of forgiveness is a crazy concept offering a restored relation with God in an instant without the treadmill of modern life in our society. If one understands also the historical and philosophical facts supporting this faith and its implications the whole combination is the most unbelievable power of life.
Am glad to learn about your genuine and honest critique about the country. The Philippine Islands are perpetually beset with difficulties and short comings that are not of the nation’s fault but by the greed and self serving actions of some individuals. Your genuine concern, understanding and care for the indigenous people of Mindanao is praise worthy. You deserve the highest accolade for this reason. The Philippine Republic must recognize your genuine effort and therefore should award you of a citizenship. The Philippines is now your home away from Great Britain. You’re always welcome to stay as long as you want. Welcome to the Philippines Kumander Daot! Mabuhay ka!
Thank you KD for sharing us your story. Wow! It’s emotional to think of your adventures in the past, getting adapted to the Filipino culture, the food and the lifestyles. Not easy but you are very brave. Those unrecorded “episodes” were what made you stronger and knowledgeable as you blend in well with the locals. It’s also a blessing for you to have married a Filipina, you are meant to be a Foreign Filipino😂😂👏🏻. I fully appreciate you KD. You are good, humble, hard working and an honest man. Stay safe as you continue your journey around The Philippines.
I'm so fascinated with your photos. Kumander! You are truly a genuine one with your adventure and I admire how you clearly recall all the details you told us in this video.
So nice to finally hear your story how you got here. You’re more Filipino than any average Pinoy because you have traveled and experience first hand Philippines from North to South. I really admire your love for our people and in helping build up especially the tribal community. More power to you Kumander Daot!
Thank you Kumander for sharing your travel experience in the Philippines. It’s something you will never forget but cherish from the rest of your other foreign travels. Whether it was planned or an instant decision to visit the country and travel to random places of interest, there’s a reason why you ended up in Davao. You met your wife and finally settled in the city. Most of the time, people settled after finding their other half. Yours was no different. You found your lovely wife and made a decision to settle down after wandering endlessly. Love your early photos. 😘 You captured life and its meaning from the eyes of your lense, amazing! It seems that photography is your passion and now with the added use of drone and video cam, you are portraying more life and experiences by vblogging. It was fate you were brought to Cateel and met Kulas who is a famous vblogger and got you influenced to start the craft. Your life before Kulas was simple back then. Photography was put aside and fish pond was in the front as you were out of the radar in Cateel until you became friends. Glad you two met and it seems the friendship is working well. 19:01-19:36 that was a nice food truck. Why don’t you revive the business? Now that you have established a name in social media yourself particularly you tube, wouldn’t be enticing to try it again? “Kumander Daot feel the beat food truck” but you have to man it yourself for a couple of months so a steady flow of customers will be maintained. Just find a good strategic place to park where you think people will easily find you. A mobile food truck that goes with you within Davao as a start if possible. Vblog about it and people will come to see how’s Kumander manning and taking orders from enthusiastic customers👌 You just have to find and employ a good cook because that’s what people really want to try and buy again.
The desire of my heart is to own land with my wife there in phil someday, setup a small farm and garden to survive mainly from the animals we raise like pigs 🐖 and chickens and of course the vegetable 🍅 🥔 🧅 🥬 🥒 🌽 🌶 garden, go fishing to with our boat and just live a life not always relying on governments and supermarkets. Keep it simple you know...
I was living in Thailand and in Bali, but came to Davao in June 2016 to try and find a good wife (I did not succeed in Thailand finding one). My plan was to bring her to either Thailand or Bali. Coz I did not like the infrastructure nor the prices in the Philippines. But here I am, for the same reasons as you: The people are just amazing!
You have a good memory... telling those stories and the time and all... by yourself, you dont need a camera you did what you wanted to do and by your stories we had an idea of what it was like. Good people attrack good people, that's why you stayed. More power.
Seeing you now, how you are pursuing to create your own kind of content, I can't help but feel proud for you kumander. Keep creating. Keep venturing kd. In all your adventures, amping kanunay kd.
I didn’t know you already had been to many places in the Philipines. In fact, you also visited my hometown Sagada and I appreciate your good reviews of our place. I only came to know about you thru your friend Kulas’ vlog in Cateel. Maybe you could have breached the million subscribers if you started vlogging earlier, like Kulas.
Wow!!! That’s a great story Kumander Daot. Youre a good story teller. I admire your guts to explore the country and its islands you have not been to before. And now, you are living your life in Davao. Thank you for embracing our culture. Support you all the way! Not skipping ads. 😅
So very beautiful to hear your story my friend, it felt like you too were recalling my adventures there. I vividly recall the warmth of the Filipinos I encountered on my first trip to the Philippines in 2000, one day I too will be living there, God willing. Banaue, Batad and Sagada touched my heart deeply, sadly they have changed, I guess BBQ aso is no longer on the menu there. Keep up your informative and inspiring documentary of life there in that beautiful country.
KD, you are so down to earth and genuine. The things you talked about seem to be have the indelible mark in your memory bank, you even remembered the little details including the time and street names. You went from Luzon to Visayas and then Mindanao. That walk from Vito Cruz to Makati under the rain is mind-blowing. With the traffic, the bad weather, and that massive distance, you must be in deep thought to not be deterred. You've been to the North and down to the South! You have had a lot of misses with business ventures and shows your hardwork, bravery, perseverance, and belief in the good side of man. Finally, it would seem that you are a natural with vlogging. And you know what, we are with you. Know that many people are rooting for you, so just talk away and we'll support you. And I hope, those who follow you will subscribe and try to watch all your videos. For me, even if I can't actually watch the very old ones, due to limited personal free time, I'd let them play in the background.
Thank you for sharing your story, bro! This entire adventure in your life is awesome and I'm glad we are part of it 😁 Man, your photography is flippin epic! What a time, back in the day, to be backpacking around the PH, I bet that kinda experience is so different from now on. I look forward to reaching Mindanao (hopefully soon), where my heart is
Yeah, with the NWO world dictatorship in power via their coup d'etat since two years it's no more the same world. What became of rule of law, God given liberties, equal treatment, interdiction of unjust punishment and arbitrary sanctions, ... What will trade, industry and tourism be without those basic principles that formed the free world after Reformation and Enlightenment?!
Actually, now walking around in the rain is a good idea - therapeutic, especially after last year’s lockdown😁. Great hearing your story and seeing your photos!
So I said to myself, “this is me having coffee with Kumander Daot” and laughed 😂. You can just sit there in front of the camera and tell us about things and we’re good! Always wishing you well, Kumander! Enjoy your future journeys!
I watched your video twice. You been in the Philippines over five years and counting. I’m glad you stayed though there are some disappointing (if that’s the right word for it) experiences along the way. I probably watched all your videos and I have noticed you have a giving heart, humble and not picky at all. 😂😂 only few to mention. May our Good Lord shine upon you always specially on moments you needed Him the most. Stay safe and healthy.
Just to say you have given me the courage to travel been saving money hopefully I will leave the UK march next year. Great to see you in a happier place 😊
Thank you for sharing your story. Even though I know where you eventually stayed, I was hanging on to every word you said. For some reason I was very invested in hearing that you did not run into any trouble along the way. No photos meant you were busy living the experience instead.
Thank you so much KD for sharing your life’s journey esp. traveling and living in the Philippines. You are such a kind hearted person! Am enjoying your great excellent vlogs!
This wasn't the usual vlog, though I wish there was warned about it ahead of time. I should have been watching with a beer in hand. :) ... Cheers Kumander! Great story.
5:49 yeah, that's the heart of Banaue... It's really cold there... Colder than Baguio City... You also visited the Hapao hot spring wow! I think we have a sleeping volcano in Hungduan.. I hope it keeps hibernating and not wake up😅
Thanks for sharing your stories...truly inspiring! yes there were bumps along the way...but this one here..VLOGGING is your true calling ;) Keep it up KumanDEEERRR!!!
"I don't do everything for myself" - Kumander Daot I wish more of the foreign vloggers that I used to follow (no longer) in the Philippines could say that about themselves. You and Dustin Backpack are the two vloggers in the Philippines that I follow religiously. Helping and giving back to the community is very important. Love your vids Kumander, safe travels.
Same here... I've watched the Hungarian Syrian for a few months and although he is doing some good things he has his ulterior motives. I think most of us got introduced to kumander thru Kulas and I occasionally watch his vlogs as well but I basically watch all of kumander and Dustin's videos
Thank you for sharing your story and your beautiful travel photos. They were actually very spectacular and stunning for a non-professional photography. The warmth and the welcoming smiles and friendliness of the Filipino people got into you at the end.😊
Omg, haha! We hosted British Rotex before and they would walk in the rain without a care! They were amazed how people can be in the rain and not freeze to death.
What did you do in Australia? And how did you learn Visaya (?), and how long did it take for you to become fluent? Thank you for sharing you story, you have come a long way and I'm glad that you are enjoying the Philippines :)
I am looking forward to watching more videos from you KD!!! The first being was your Dad’s visit and because I love family reunions, and watching my second video, I subscribed, loved your story telling, style of narration and impressive photography!!! And I love what I am seeing and look forward to MORE!❤❤❤🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏
Yup...met my now wife in Kuwait working, one visit and I was hooked! Still working away from home to build businesses and passive incomes so I never have to leave again!
Love this vlog very much. You are on your way to the top of the highest mountains. You're experiences and story telling abilities are totally mesmerizing. You're bigtime now!! Love your food truck. You are absolutely brilliant and a true artist in everyday. We are all grateful that you share your life with us and also give back to so many communities. Everything that you do just gets better and greater. Like I said, I know you love to travel and make videos, but you just telling stories is just as captivating because we get to experience more of who you are personally. Thank you always!!!
Just come across with this vlog Anselm, actually the first vlog that I saw was when you went back to UK and explain why you left the Philippines....now I am browsing again some of your vlogs Anselm aka KD.
Hey KD.....that was a very challenging, wonderful story and interesting story of life....Bottom line: life is beautiful, ain't it.....keep keeping on brother....thank you for sharing....looking forward for all your interesting vlogs....
I totally understand your love for the PH and its culture. My filipina girl friend and I are going to escape the Canadian winter again this year and enjoy all that it offers. I could live there but my girl is too westernized now. Keep on riding that Suzuki, you know Kulas wants one! BTW we live close to where Kulas was brought up in Canada.
It is so nice to hear your history, trying to figure out why they call you Cmdr Daot. You had quite a lot of adventures and trials & errors in business. Yes, absolutely correct it’s the peoples’ heartwarming welcomes, help, friendship, smiles, and humor but also observe situational awareness down south where extremism can be a problem. But other than that, enjoy the Philippines 🇵🇭 🇦🇺 🇺🇸👍🏼💪🏼. Thank you for being a good ally of America. The Aussies look sharp and so gung-ho when I was in Kandahar AB Afghanistan. I saw Filipinos in their ranks, too. Salute!
I watched and enjoyed the entire story telling with pictures integrated. I had also been to 6:27 Sagada in the north and 15:41 Butuan in the south and those places in between that you had mentioned. Subscribed! I'll planning to retire in Philippines 2024.
Something different to usual, hope you enjoy my story!

Such a tale to tell, there are many more to come and you making one right now. I am amazed at all the tiny details that you recalled.
Thank you for loving the Philippines, Kumander!
Actually, now walking around in the rain is a good idea - therapeutic, especially after last year’s lockdown😁. Great hearing your story and seeing your photos!
It's lockdown again right now!
So I said to myself, “this is me having coffee with Kumander Daot” and laughed 😂. You can just sit there in front of the camera and tell us about things and we’re good! Always wishing you well, Kumander! Enjoy your future journeys!
Haha I love sharing stories!
Thank you Kumander for sharing your life. And thank you for staying.
You are such an honest caring guy kumander, you are a lovely guy , I love all your videos xxxxxx
Just to say you have given me the courage to travel been saving money hopefully I will leave the UK march next year. Great to see you in a happier place 😊
Me too. Haven't been home for nearly 2 years. I need a break!
@@donaldlacaman7177 me too...havent been home in 57 years...i need a break in this lonely UK....
@@wahoowahoo2341 57 years? Wow!! 😲😮
I love the way how you (kumander daot) do your narration. Very national geographic.
Thank you and Kulas for showing us the beauty of Mindanao.
It's Kumander Daut :)
Kumander, you've been to many parts of the Philippines where most Filipinos will never see; keep on traveling & stay safe!
"I don't do everything for myself" - Kumander Daot
I wish more of the foreign vloggers that I used to follow (no longer) in the Philippines could say that about themselves.
We love you, KD! You’re so natural & friendly as well💖
Good morning KD!🌤 always fun to watch you talking dunno why lol. Amazing journey….
Thank you for sharing your story and your beautiful travel photos. They were actually very spectacular and stunning for a non-professional photography. The warmth and the welcoming smiles and friendliness of the Filipino people got into you at the end.😊
That was so insightful !
Thanks for sharing your story 👍🏼
19:08 that jeepney looks amazing! - hope we can see it in an upcoming vlog :)
Yes kumander i would like to see it too.
Naturally storyteller. I enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to more of the DAVAO- CATEEL story.
Omg, haha! We hosted British Rotex before and they would walk in the rain without a care! They were amazed how people can be in the rain and not freeze to death.
Haha, we are used to the rain, all day every day
@@KumanderDaot Mate, this vlog is amazing. This is like, inuman story time stuff with drinks and pulutan!
@@Poo0fi really appreciate it! Actually these are the stories I tell after a few beers, haha

Thank you for sharing your adventures in the PI. Your pictures are wonderful!
Love your story Kumander Daot. I always watch your videos... keep vlogging. Amping 😍
I'm a filipino in U.K. close to Newport. your story is inspiring.
Just come across with this vlog Anselm, actually the first vlog that I saw was when you went back to UK and explain why you left the Philippines....now I am browsing again some of your vlogs Anselm aka KD.
"Iiyak na yan! Iiyak na yan!" 😊

Thanks for sharing your wonderful journey, Kumander Daot 😊
I could listen to your story telling forever. Will there be a part 2? I hope there will be a 2nd vid 😁
You seemed so familiar of all the places you've been through in the Philippines even the name of the streets.. Sharp memory.. Great story!
Really enjoyed the story. Maybe you should think about publishing a book with all of your travel photos.
Kumander, thanks for sharing your story! And thanks for choosing to stay! Any updates on the Tarsier Spirit sailboat?
Its kumander time 👍🇵🇭💗
Stay safe
Really enjoying going back through all your material. Such an amazing journey.
great story Kumander! i`ll be waiting for some more! cheers!
14:20 thats @ Surigao City Boulevard!! 😁😁
Salute!
A wonderful story about your travels around the Philippines. Thanks for sharing Kumander D.
Thank you for choosing Philippines as your 2nd home😊Godbless and take care Sir!😇
You are a great vlogger now bro.keep it up. Stay long as you like. Philippines is a home for everyone who deserve to be a good citizen.
I watched and enjoyed the entire story telling with pictures integrated. I had also been to 6:27 Sagada in the north and 15:41 Butuan in the south and those places in between that you had mentioned. Subscribed!
I'll planning to retire in Philippines 2024.
Such an amazing journey. May the wind be always at your back Kumander!
What a journey throughout the Philippines! I am glad you decided to stay!
