Sonic Becomes King Arthur (Sonic And The Black Knight) 4K Ultra HD
A wizard named Merlina, granddaughter of Merlin, attempts to flee from a black knight and his forces. Cornered, she performs a spell calling forth a champion to save her, summoning Sonic the Hedgehog. As they retreat, Merlina explains to Sonic that the black knight is actually King Arthur, who has been corrupted by the immortality granted by Excalibur's scabbard, and that Sonic must defeat him to restore peace to the kingdom. With Sonic's speed alone being insufficient to defeat the King, he takes up the talking sword Caliburn.
At Caliburn's suggestion, Sonic meets up with the Lady of the Lake, Nimue (this world's version of Amy Rose), who tests Sonic to prove he is a worthy Knight. After completing her tasks, Nimue tells him that he must collect the sacred swords wielded by Lancelot, Gawain and Percival of the Round Table (this world's versions of Shadow, Knuckles and Blaze respectively) in order to dispel the immortality granted by Excalibur's scabbard. Defeating each of the Knights, Sonic claims all three swords and challenges the King once more, destroying him.
Sonic takes the scabbard back to Merlina, who reveals that there was never any King Arthur, and what he defeated was an illusion created by her grandfather Merlin, with Merlina manipulating Sonic in order to claim Excalibur's scabbard as her own. Merlina plans to use its power to make the kingdom changeless and eternal in hopes of averting the kingdom's fate from the legends. However, her plan is completely flawed, as such a world, going against the natural order of things, would not function properly, and it would come at the cost of innocent lives. She summons the underworld directly into the kingdom, creating the Dark Hollow and forcing Sonic and the Knights to flee. Nimue explains that the sacred swords can be used to form a barrier to prevent the Dark Hollow's spread, so Sonic and the Knights split up and journey to the kingdom's corners to form the barrier, but it proves to be too weak and the hollow continues to grow.
Sonic enters the Dark Hollow himself to confront Merlina, who has now become the Dark Queen, but she proves too powerful, destroying Caliburn and badly injuring Sonic. Seeing Sonic's continued resolve to stop the witch, Nimue and the Knights give Sonic the power of the sacred swords to restore Caliburn - now revealed to be the true Excalibur - and Sonic transforms into an armored super form called Excalibur Sonic. He defeats Merlina, destroying the Dark Hollow. After the battle, Sonic tells Merlina that, while everything has an end, people should live their lives to the fullest until that day comes. With King Arthur revealed as an illusion, the Knights of the Round Table prepare to disband, but Caliburn reminds them that he is the one who chooses the true king, now revealed to be Sonic.
In a post-credits cutscene, Sonic returns to his world and tells Amy about his adventures, but she believes it to be an excuse for missing their planned date. The game ends in a similar manner to Sonic and the Secret Rings, with the title of the book King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table changing to Sonic and the Black Knight.

The most underrated Sonic game!
@LEVI PLAYS STUFF it was a pain trying to do some things with the controls, especially with that one shadow mission with the dragon, but I still liked the game's story too
Eh, I think Unleashed holds that crown. I still hold fondness for Black Knight, mostly because of the story, voice acting, music, and characters.
A shame Game Grumps doesn't understand how the controls work, cause I certainly did, quite quickly at that.
They were more focused on destroying monsters, and while, yes, that is what you're supposed to do, there are ways to make it go by much faster, AND speed through the level, such as the spin slash (Jump and Swing wii mote), which is a VERY useful technique for slicing through enemies fast without wasting time. But I think the dumbest thing is that dragon fight (Ensue the "UNAVOIDABLE CHIN MOVE" screams) They obviously didn't know how to use their environment, which caused Arin to die countless times to that one attack from that dragon. And no, that attack isn't unavoidable, it is, and it's simple... *Just hide behind the pillars.*

He's so cool and it's an absolute shame he hasn't been used since, same goes for Dark Spine.

Sonic and the Black Knight was such a fun game, and GOD, that true final boss fight was just an absolute BLAST! I replayed it so many times that I was eventually beating it completely untouched and at stupidly fast times lol
This and Fate/Stay Night is my introduction to King Arthur legend.
Curiously, the english voice of Artoria, Kate Higgins, also voices Tails in some versions, giving more connections between both king Arthurs.

This is not the first time Sonic used a sword. In the Archie comics, Sonic has wielded the Sword of Acorn from Princess Sally's kingdom. Also Sonic's armor is sick⚡⚡⚡

If only it wasn’t connected to the Wii sensors. I understand the technology was new and honestly I praise Nintendo for always breaking new ground, but damn if some games were badly optimized for it lol
wasnt the sensors, it was the kind of motion sensors in the controllers, once they switched to gyro the motion games worked fine because they kept this same tech for wii u and switch going forward
The gameplay may be gimmicky being played on Wii... But the Storytelling of this game is PEAK Sonic

My only disappointment with this game is that none of the Sonic character lookalikes, the Blacksmith, the Knights, or Nimue were given British accents to speak with. Other than that I enjoyed it to degree.

I would say super too, the chaos emeralds can control time and space, like when sonic and shadow chaos controlled the ARK, and he's got a lot of abilities with that, Excalibur sonic, as cool as it is, is essentially just an OP Sword

That was very clever of them to let watch the transform sequence in the menu, I've replayed it over and over until I get lazy.
And I'm disappoint that everytime I see someone doing this boss they never noticed that the black wall is breakable with the sword (It's Excalibur and it cut everything!).
My best time doing it was around 30 seconds.
They rarely ever time their sword strikes OR bat away the orbs unless it's a top-rank run.

Also, I'm not sure that he really wanted to _kill_ her as much as _stop_ her. Yeah, he attacked her with Caliburn, but he hit the other knights with it and beat them, all without killing them or intending to do so. I think that if he wanted to kill her he'd have done it at the ending lol.

@@shane1840 I'll grant thst it's a possibility, but that was also an illusion and it may have also simply vanished after being "defeated," (keep in mind that Sonic was surprised that he went out poofing like the other dark enemies,) in which case he may have also simply intended to "best" him in the duel so to speak or else just incapacitate him.

Considering this game takes place in the Middle Ages Shadow himself should be impossible because he was artificially created. I believe it's the reason why he's not in Sonic and the Secret Rings either. Everything about him.. his appearance, abilities and maybe even personality traits were all created in a lab so he shouldn't exist in a time where everything that was used to design him hadn't been invented yet.
One thing that we can learn from the game is that everything has a beginning and an ending, we have to live life to the fullest while we still can before we pass away, the lesson is that live your life to the fullest and do it while you still can because you won’t have time for anything when you grow up. Sorry if this is a little deep, but live life to your fullest while you still can, spend time with your family and friends, enjoy and savor every moment you spend with the people you care about.
