No, I think that such a big thing like Metal Overlord making himself invisible would be too much for the PS2/Xbox/GC to handle or too much programming for the devs, so they may have scrapped the idea because of this

Let me clarify for everyone who doesn’t know what’s up with Metal Sonic. This is never explained, but somehow he learned how to copy peoples bio data, which means he can copy the abilities of anyone he chooses. He copied Sonic’s bio data to get his speed and skill. He copied Shadow’s bio data because his DNA had remnants of the bio lizard, and so he could use chaos control. He copied Chicola and Froggy’s bio data because both their DNA had remnants of Chaos. Chicola because chao are descendants of Chaos’ species, and Froggy because he swallowed Chaos’ tail during SA1. He locked Eggman in a cell and copied his bio data so he could command the egg fleet and use them to take over the world. He didn’t copy the bio data of any of Team Chaotix because he didn’t need them. They were only there because the real Eggman somehow got in touch with them, and used them to foil metals’ plan.

That's closer to the classics than just about any other sonic game. If branching paths is your only argument, well Sonic 06 has way more branching paths in its stages than heroes, so I guess it's the closest to the classics right? How about Generations and Forces that both litterally have classic sonic in it? Or Lost World with its classic art style and slower gameplay? There are a couple games I'd say are closer to the classics but heroes is a lower common demoninator.
Adventure1 also has the closest gameplay to the classicgames to a fault. Tails had to be put into races and knuckles had to get another objective entirely because both of them would break the game in 3d.

He is also the only character with the most fulfilling adventure, seeing as he has 10 of the 11 stages, and Sonic also goes through every area of every stage, as opposed to the rest of the cast which are fairly bite sized in comparison.
The original Adventure voice cast was amazing. And hearing them in Heroes was so nice, they weren't stale or off like they were in the Adventure games [by no fault of their own, they were given directions to do lines and things a certain way, I know]. The OG cast will always have a special place in my heart.
One of my favorite final boss moments in all of Sonic games. The cutscenes and battle still gave chills. It took THREE (well, only Super Sonic is legit) Super State characters just to bring Metal Sonic's transformation down!
And with Sonic 06, it took 3 experienced/expert super state characters to just break 2 forms of Solaris, when he was easily killed like blowing a candle.

My theory about the lack of either Super Knuckles/Tails. I think it's because the Emeralds had enough power to give Sonic his super form, then he gave some of his power to his teammates. It totally disregards Adventure 2 and 06, but maybe hedgehogs get plot armor in this series haha

Even the real Eggman was surprised all about this. Neo Metal Sonic looked up Eggman, so Metal Sonic can take over the world. As loathsome as Eggman is, Metal Sonic is much more loathsome.

12:15 Shadow and Omega are my favourite characters, i like the way they carry Metal Sonic Even though they fought him, they are still sympathetic, maybe from the fact that Omega is also a robot and Shadow has doubts if his origins as a nromal biolocal hedgehog.
I kind of feel sorry for metal sonic. He honestly thinks he’s sonic because he was programmed or possibly even brainwashed to think it. The one time he turns good in the ova he burns alive in lava. All of his newer incarnations get mentally reset as soon as they turn good or start to gain compassion. He’s robotniks slave and it cost him his life.
I hope this game comes back to the switch, with more replayability, and more options, and the option to toggle super transformations on and off, but only after completing one of the teams stories.

Shadow and Omega are my favourite characters, i like the way they carry Metal Sonic
Even though they fought him, they are still sympathetic, maybe from the fact that Omega is also a robot and Shadow has doubts if his origins as a nromal biolocal hedgehog.

I kind of feel sorry for metal sonic. He honestly thinks he’s sonic because he was programmed or possibly even brainwashed to think it. The one time he turns good in the ova he burns alive in lava. All of his newer incarnations get mentally reset as soon as they turn good or start to gain compassion. He’s robotniks slave and it cost him his life.
I just can't imagine what our gaming lives would be like if Dr. Robotnik never created this mechanical demon 28 years ago!
