The fact that adversity only made her stronger. Also, her studying law while holding another job resonated with me personally as I did that myself. What a courageous woman she is taking the cause of the downtrodden! This interview made me cry.

What an interview Faye, and what a journey, especially the second half, her work after she acquired a law degree. There's so much muck people like her can expose. I wish we had more like her in the system. Thank you for introducing a woman like her.

If media could tell such stories everyday, to teach lessons, inspire, give new perspectives,
then people would not be clueless, & prone to polarization.

Another excellent interview, Faye. It's refreshing to watch a conversation where the guest is given the space to express themselves freely, without the interviewer overshadowing the discussion. Abha Singh’s tenacity and strong sense of social responsibility are truly admirable. We need more people with her conviction. However, I still respectfully disagree with her stance on not defending rapists or terrorists, as I believe in the principle that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Labeling individuals without a legal conviction can hinder their right to a fair trial and challenge our ability to uphold justice as a society. Thanks for continually bringing such thought-provoking guests.

Faye, all my life so far I have seeked women who are everything that Abha Singh is because I want to see women I can identify with, those who are unabashedly themselves, successful and honest and warm and proud of their trajectory. They have been hard to find, which often put me in a dilemma about if the way I am is “too much”. This conversation was beyond inspiring, it was validating. Such an incredible conversation. And thank you for asking such good questions ❤

I wish I could meet her some day!! This is so inspiring! Goes on to proof how a woman can play so many roles successfully once she makes up her mind!!! Hats off to her!!! I so agree with the fact that women often don't have the money to afford a lawyer and even if they somehow manage to, there's no guarantee that they will not be cheated by their own male/female lawyers!!! I have faced it first hand and was shocked to see the mask falling off!!! Thank you for sharing your insights, you made my day ma'am! We need more of you! Thank you so much Faye, it's a pleasure listening to you!!!

This was indeed a very eye opening interview in many ways. Lot of power vibes that came out of this. Importance of law, dynamics of marriage and the need for women to understand their rights. So much more of this is required for our country. Please interview more such people Faye. Loved it. I also agree with Abha Mam on her point that the AIB roast was crass and especially objectifying on the lines of women and sexual interpretations. ( I paused the interview and revisited those bits) Indeed we need to be more sensitive of who we are as a larger Indian society and not blindly follow western culture because it's cool and sounds fun. Art and specifically comedy in this case is amazing when done tastefully. Zakir Khan is a case in point. A comedian with sensibility of the Indian audience who I don't think I've ever heard thus far crossing the line in being mindlessly abusive or sexual just to make people laugh.

Excellent interview! One of the most entertaining and thought provoking videos I've seen recently.
I agree with Abha ma'am on the AIB case. While freedom of speech is important to protect, certain checks and balances are also necessary to promote and protect our society. Normalising profanity especially ones that are derogatory to women will worsen our already patriarchal, misogynistic social fabric. I support the message that such behaviours are not tolerated in public domain. Brings to mind the debate over Kabir Singh movie. The idea is to chastise content that caters to easily influenced toxic individuals that normalise or aggravate their toxicity.
Edit: however this is not in any way in support of the Broadcast Bill. Being able to question and critique problematic content retrospectively should be considered different from censorship and bullying

Just existing-yes, that's what we’re doing. We go about our daily routines, run our errands, and show up for the people who matter. Oh yes, we are indeed alive.
But it’s just another piece of news-a distant city, another girl, another Nirbhaya. And yet, here we are, merely alive, attending to our duties and chores.
What power do we have to change the laws? Who are we, until it strikes closer to home, or in our own homes? Until then, we simply exist. Let’s keep living and witnessing one heinous crime after another.
    After all, we’re just alive.
(Change the law for the betterment of society .
Not an appeal it’s an order from the citizens of India )

I liked the interview not because she was great or anything but because she was honest and through the interview showed her real self. Real people are not black and white, they are flawed and THAT IS FINE. While she is an activist and a lawyer, she hates men using the technicalities of the law to not give money to their wives during divorce but she is happy to use those technicalities to choke freedom of speech (blocking AIB roast was the worst thing against freedom of speech at the time, many more such things happened later).. While she is helping woman get justice, through her experiences she has become inherently biased as she says 90% of men are corrupt while woman are less corrupt. I admire her work and hope she continues to do so but she has become jaded over the years.. interesting to observe..
