You've made a mistake in the video. The top and bottom (GPU side) of the case can only support dual 120mm fans, no triple as you mention at 2:11! Otherwise excellent review Luke!
there are mounting strips for 120mm fans only! The round holes in between are venting holes and cannot be used to mount fans. From the looks of it we also thought triple fan support is available but there isn't enough spacing.
Solve for mounting two Fans in the top: install the fans on the aio in pull not push -> the radiator sits an inch further away from your mobo and you can fit a second fan in the top :) Nice Review keep it up
I LOVE the idea of making a smaller 540. But I hate a lot of the compromises like the 80mm (why??) fan mounts. But regardless, I still think its an awesome form factor and the dual chamber design is fantastic.
+Matt Schaefer I'm still going to get it just because it looks sexy as crap and, as someone who probably wont use 3.5in drives or a 240mil radiator a lot of those compromises don't apply to me
I love this case!! Thanks Linus for showing me and Corsair and Luke Btw if anyone is wondering I put 2 corsair 120mm fans at the top with the Rad and 2 120mm fans on that in the front part of the case how Luke has it but I have my fans behind the Rad not in front like he does. I have a MSI micro ATX board and didn't have to do anything crazy to make it all fit besides a little bit of working it in. The only problem you guys might have is that the left side panel might hit your 8 Pin power connectors on your GPU and might make it "bulge" out a tiny bit. The case makes my build look flawless with hardly any effort.
I was thinking about it as well, though I'm probably going for the Node 804 instead due to some minor annoyances on the air 240. The air 240 looks amazing from the outside and the node looks plain in comparison, though the interior of the node 804 allows more fan placement (of 120mm's) instead of the air's 80mm's and lack of bottom fans due to motherboard size.
its very space efficient, and nicely designed case for its size (and price), Luke just isn't really as good as Linus at picking the good things about product to talk about :P.
Toby Dodz I think he means corsair didn't test the case. There are some situations where I wonder How did this make past QA (like the bottom fans mashing up with the cables. Though overall I love the case (and will be waiting for a air 540 refresh)
I put two 120 corsair fans at the top of my case and put a Corsair h100i v2 in the front of he case. I was able to squish the cooling tubes around the graphics card and it looks pretty great! And I’m able to keep everything extremely cool in this case. I’m a fan 🦑
Slick is really doing a great job, and like these videos much better than when he does only the performance. I like the humor, delivery, and change I think Linus and him should do this more often... Thanks for posting guys.
I have the air 540 and love the changes they made to the 240 to downsize the case. I really like that the feet are not attached and I would have liked this feature on the 540. This would give me the option to put the feet one the side of the case allowing me to have the window facing upward. If I were to use the 240, I would not go with a water cooling solution to allow me to utilize all the fan mounting positions which would be antiquate cooling for most people. I will defiantly consider this case for my upcoming mATX build. Great review, as always.
The Arctic F8 80mm fans are really quiet for 80mm fans and they have amazing airflow for their size. Plus they're super inexpensive (like $7), have a 6 year warranty, and PWM options for only a couple dollars more. I use them a lot to upgrade the fans in manufactured PCs or in small form factor cases. Highly recommended and would probably work really well in this case!
It depends how tall the card is, if it's taller than 120mm you're out of luck. www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/2ovh91/gtx_970s_and_the_corsair_air_240_this_needs_to_be/
Aw, I miss luke as a presenter. I just got one of these cases off ebay because the aesthetic will work fantastically in my new place on the horizontal position. I have an AIO in my main system, but as it's full ATX, I'm basically going to have to rebuild the system anyway, so it's probably just going to be a full system build, lol. For a new case.
-GPU hinge is crap, your card will not be very secure -When you install a Micro-ATX motherboard, he says that you cannot install fans a the bottom of the motherboard. This is false, you can install 92mm fans at the bottom -He doesnt mention that the maximum height for air coolers is pretty low so you wont fit a hyper 212 in this case Source: I own this case
+r fury the lock works enough to keep it in place but it wont help against any serious movement. I personally just screwed my card into the lock mechanism.
I like this case. I've been looking for a matx crossfire build and this provides great airflow. I like that the case feet are not installed, as I would orient the case with the clear sidepanel facing up
While watching this video I had the realization that if Luke ever had to take over this channel for whatever reason I would be okay with it. I love me some Linus (especially harshly critical Linus), but I think Luke's been doing a great job with his added responsibilities.
The reason they don't pre-install the case feet is because the case was also designed to be set on its side as well, allowing the window panel to face up. The Corsair badge on the front can also be rotated to look appropriate for that orientation, which is personally how I would want to use the case.
you never mentioned the corsair badge's ability to orient as you choose. i personally plan on using this case for my new htpc build and positioning it window up, so the included 3m sticky feet are a boon for me. im also glad there are no 5.25 bays externally as this makes for a much cleaner build.
Nice review, but I would have liked to see an air cooled build version. This case is so open that fan noise will potentially be a significant factor if using too many case fans, don't you think?
Thanks for convincing me that this is NOT the case that I want! haha No really your review really helped me figure out if I wanted this case or not! You guys do a great job! Thanks!
I got two fans in the top of mine, even with a H100i radiator. All you have to do is rotate the CPU block 360 degrees once the radiator is installed to mount it. It looks a little scary, but the lines are very smooth, no kinks at all.
I liked your review, but you missed a big positive for this case. The rubber feet not being attached means you're free to place it in any orientation you would like to. The log on the front will rotate around depending on what you choose. If I end up getting one of these, I plan on doing either reverse or desktop.
I already built a platform on the Air 540, it would be nice to shrink that down for portability if I ever got invited to a LAN party. That being said, I think the cpu power cable management wouldn't be a big issue if you cut a hole and put an aftermarket grommet (either the ones in the Air 540 or smaller, maybe a liquid cooling tube grommet?) in, which is probably what I would do if I were to get this case.
You can put two fans behind the radiator as well. Not sure why they didn't have that. So there's 2 fans in front of the radiator, and two in back of it.
I think I prefer the Fractal Node 804, I got one for my new server recently and absolutely love it, I've been considering one for my new PC that I need to build soon.
I like the idea, of the dual chamber. I first found these cases, from a custom site, called Mountain Mods. They do custom PC case work, among other things. I also would like to see, the addition for Liquid/Air cooling hybrid. Look at this Tektronix mATX test station
This case has solved almost everything that was wrong with the air 540,Even though I've already got the air 540 and love it to bits, I wish they would release this in ATX form.
Nice job covering some very interesting and important facts about this case, which is another solid effort from Corsair with some disappointing oversights that were likely the result of the small form factor. Still some very clever design there from Corsair and a great vid from Slick (not sure why we have to call him Luke now???)...
Like the case size and looks good at a glance but they should have talked to you guys during the design process as looks like they come up short on some of the design with layout / space to manage cables and fix fans etc. nice but again leaves room for improvement.
I have no intention of putting spinning drives in my next PC. And I'm a fan of the 212 hyper evo CPU cooler over the closed loop water systems (cools almost as well for far far less). And I don't do dual GPU's. So this might be perfect for me considering that. Thanks Luke, another great reveiw.
I would have preferred the case to be a little bit longer either at the top or the bottom so that you could use a slim rad with the fans. I know its called the AIR but If you have 2 cards in sli on an matx board because of they're position they'll be really loud unless water-cooling. Or they could have added room on the power supply side for another 2 fan rad. Modders will probably do it.
having an air 540 already, i feel I need to make a media pc with this just so i can have the full set. and I can only hope that corsair will make an air 840 for those massive builds!
Hits on all the pro's but not the negatives. The side panels are incredibly flemsy and the screws that hold them in almost never go in cleanly. The bottoms of the panels can bow out from the edge of the case. I just got a 1660 ti from MSI that is 5" thick. I can't put the side panel on without 180 degrees 8 pin pci adapter. The window scuffs very easily. I like the case, but think this stuff should be considered also.
So my guess is that everyone has already asked this question and received the answer but where is Linus. Has Luke taken over the company (obviously not) And finally a statement Luke you are doing really well.
I'm liking the cube cases with dual chambers. Granted, at this point the only ones that come to mind are this one and the Node 804. I think I prefer the Fractal one, though.
Have a look at the Aerocool DS Cube. It's basically two chambers, nice to build in, and comes in plenty of colors. I was considering the Air 240 as well, but I'm sticking to this one.
Read on a forum that the EVGA, PNY, and Gigabyte G1 970 WILL fit into the case. Debating to get this case or the ThermalTake V21. Hopefully thats help's for anyone who's curious.
They could have increased the size by a few inches either up or make it just a few inches more square. But overal grade moddable case. I might just get this soon!
The reason why some thumbscrews don't stay in place when unscrewed is the the material they're holding in place. When not attached to the case and accidently putting pressure on a panel a metal one will bend when a plastic panel will crack which means you're screwed when that happens(pun intended).
Got this case, really love it. Only bad thing is i had to get a low profile 8 pin and 6 pin connector for my GTX 970. As the ones that came with my Corsair HX850i , made it difficult to close the side panel properly.
Damjan25 yeah, when they're under load. when I replaced the 780m GTX with the 980m, the fans were dirty as hell, tried to clean, them but i think i should replace them as well.
I can see the point of Dual chamber cases, but considering most good cases allow you to isolate your PSU airflow (by being mounted at the bottom with bottom intake) I think it's more of an aesthetic thing and it really isn't something which bothers me. I personally prefer the more classic PC tower design and I feel I've grown out of windowed cases myself so cable management for me is about function, not form and having the side as a mounting point for a 230mm intake fan is more appealing for me.
You've made a mistake in the video. The top and bottom (GPU side) of the case can only support dual 120mm fans, no triple as you mention at 2:11! Otherwise excellent review Luke!
There are three fan spots, are they for other sizes than 120mm?
Storm Balu 80mm fans I guess.
if you listen he never mentions the fan size he simple says 3 fans. So you sir have made a mistake. good day.
there are mounting strips for 120mm fans only! The round holes in between are venting holes and cannot be used to mount fans. From the looks of it we also thought triple fan support is available but there isn't enough spacing.
HardwareCanucks Can you do a review too?
this is the cutest case ive ever seen
4 years later - still one of the best m-atx cases on the market. its really good!
Solve for mounting two Fans in the top: install the fans on the aio in pull not push -> the radiator sits an inch further away from your mobo and you can fit a second fan in the top :)
Nice Review keep it up
Now I need to wait for the Air 420 :D
#SmokeWeedEveryday
sigh...
tommihommi1 Haha Lame I know, but it had to be made, for Linus!
Nah I think you're just blowing smoke.
tommihommi1 air 360
I LOVE the idea of making a smaller 540. But I hate a lot of the compromises like the 80mm (why??) fan mounts. But regardless, I still think its an awesome form factor and the dual chamber design is fantastic.

Corsair... Air
Yup.
It would be better to call it the Corsair CorsAir 240.
FREEEDDOOOOOOOM!
Unbox Therapy ha u funny
Weak1ings more like Corsair CorsAir 420 LOL😂
I just dug out a Air540 and realised how huge it is! lol. quite nice to revisit old videos from LTT and see Luke presenting. Miss those days.
Why do I feel Luke is slowly taking over LTT? (I just realized even if Luke takes over the initials will be the same; Luke Tech Tips LTT)
Linus is on vacation.
Well I know that because of his baby. Best of luck to him. But Luke..he must take this chance...
I think more luke in general video reviews would be cool 60:40 split linus:luke
김동현 Then why did you ask?
If he takes over,I ain't even mad.
I love this case!! Thanks Linus for showing me and Corsair and Luke
Btw if anyone is wondering I put 2 corsair 120mm fans at the top with the Rad and 2 120mm fans on that in the front part of the case how Luke has it but I have my fans behind the Rad not in front like he does. The case makes my build look flawless with hardly any effort.
This is obviously a case of CoolerMasterNA saying 'Hey! That Fractal Design Node 804 is a GREAT idea!'
Currently using the Air 540, love it to death, strongly recommend Corsair as a case brand!
I wish they would made a new updated model of this case.
im about to buy a white one for my build. this case looks clean
Well, your wish has been granted
How so? What is the new model?
It was unveiled at computex. The 280 something or other.
I'm really enjoying the extra Luke content. I hope he continues to be in front of the camera more when Linus is back.
It's like they did not even bother test this case to see how things would fit.
its very space efficient, and nicely designed case for its size (and price), Luke just isn't really as good as Linus at picking the good things about product to talk about :P.
Toby Dodz I think he means corsair didn't test the case. There are some situations where I wonder How did this make past QA (like the bottom fans mashing up with the cables.

@@skifree0 how did you like the 540 refresh?
I put two 120 corsair fans at the top of my case and put a Corsair h100i v2 in the front of he case. I was able to squish the cooling tubes around the graphics card and it looks pretty great! And I’m able to keep everything extremely cool in this case. I’m a fan 🦑
It would have been nice if they had added a Dvd drive bay.
Most of the people building PC's don't even bother with optical drives, this is why they didn't.
***** But people such as myself do, I think they're still useful for things like ripping CDs and wacthing films.
The Jolly Good Jester As do I, but the majority sadly do not because of Gaben's creation of Steam. Most enthusiasts and gamers don't see the point.
***** Hm :/ Well I don't usually tend to go for smaller cases like this anyway because of the lack of the option for an Optical drive.
The Jolly Good Jester Get an external disk drive.
Slick is really doing a great job, and like these videos much better than when he does only the performance. I like the humor, delivery, and change I think Linus and him should do this more often... Thanks for posting guys.
Corsair should make mobos, video cards and CPUs so one can make a full Corsair build
A corsair CPU lol
Shrimpo
or they do it like its done with 3rd party GPUs
yeah it doesn't work like that for cpu's
I have the air 540 and love the changes they made to the 240 to downsize the case. I really like that the feet are not attached and I would have liked this feature on the 540. i kinda like LukesTechTips :D
Happy that they got Luke doing reviews too
Why does it seem like the videos getting produced better when linus isnt here?
Cause they be fired when he comes back if they don't :P
Love, love, LOVE dual chambered cases. The flexibility and ease of building is just awesome.
SWISS T-Shirt, I love You
I'm loving LukeTechTips week
God I miss the old intro

no it wont fit , but the founders edition will fit
it fit
but the corsair 400c
No it doesn't. Mine won't fit. I can't use the glass
The drive placement and the little side window makes this case so amazing and adorable. It makes me want to switch to mATX just to get it :D
OMG a Swiss t-shirt :D

so how do you secure your card exactly?
+r fury the lock works enough to keep it in place but it wont help against any serious movement. I personally just screwed my card into the lock mechanism.
Which screws did you use?
+r fury dont know really. I had some spare ones from my previous case.
+Michael Butler if you use micro-atx you can use two 92mm bottom fans.
if you use mini-itx you can use two 120mm bottom fans
I can tell luke is having fun with these now.
looks like a microwave
it is a microwave :0
Felix Kube Time to put some pop tarts in there.
Joseph Stalin OMFG XD #LukeTheMicrowave
I like this case. I've been looking for a matx crossfire build and this provides great airflow. I like that the case feet are not installed, as I would orient the case with the clear sidepanel facing up

Never really comment on videos but this review was great. Clear and good details. Good job, Slick
YESSS
When I first saw the air 540 I thought it would be amazing in mATX form for a lan/small case.
I'm loving Luke reviewing all these things, it's a good fresh experience, but I think i'm the only one who likes him doing them...
I'm narrowing my decision down to this one. It looks nice with a dark industrial aggressive vibe.
The reason they don't pre-install the case feet is because the case was also designed to be set on its side as well, allowing the window panel to face up. The Corsair badge on the front can also be rotated to look appropriate for that orientation, which is personally how I would want to use the case.
this case is being delivered to me tomo so I'm glad to see good reviews on it !!
you never mentioned the corsair badge's ability to orient as you choose. i personally plan on using this case for my new htpc build and positioning it window up, so the included 3m sticky feet are a boon for me. im also glad there are no 5.25 bays externally as this makes for a much cleaner build.
Thanks!
I've got one and I LOVE it!
I like how one of Luke's tests is shaking the case XD
Luke is killing it!!!
the first case from Corsair i like in a long long time
Perfect for LAN parties, going to consider buying one soon.
I got it. Amazing build quality! Just waiting on my cpu and my pc will be ready!
I'm happy that corsair finally put dust filters everywhere.
You guys should do an ULTIMATE build guide this case.
Recently got the Corsiar 760t over the air 540, and I have no regrets. If you got the cash and space go for that case.
I already built a platform on the Air 540, it would be nice to shrink that down for portability if I ever got invited to a LAN party. That being said, I think the cpu power cable management wouldn't be a big issue if you cut a hole and put an aftermarket grommet (either the ones in the Air 540 or smaller, maybe a liquid cooling tube grommet?) in, which is probably what I would do if I were to get this case.
im really enjoying LukesTechTips =D
You can put two fans behind the radiator as well. Not sure why they didn't have that. So there's 2 fans in front of the radiator, and two in back of it.
Hell yeah! was waiting for this review
While I'm looking forward to Linus coming back, I do also hope we get more Luke videos in the future.
Love this case. I am getting it. I had the air 540 and it is killer but now i am doing a mATX build and this is just too good to pass up.
I think I prefer the Fractal Node 804, I got one for my new server recently and absolutely love it, I've been considering one for my new PC that I need to build soon.
I wish Linustech would please indicate the direction of the mounted fans for consideration in the future.
Love Slick's reviews.

Still some very clever design there from Corsair and a great vid from Slick (not sure why we have to call him Luke now???)...
I think those rubber grommets right next to the hard drive cage are meant for the mobo power cables.
That moment when Luke makes better unboxing / product showdown movies than linus recently....:D
Like the case size and looks good at a glance but they should have talked to you guys during the design process as looks like they come up short on some of the design with layout / space to manage cables and fix fans etc.
nice but again leaves room for improvement.
more gaming peripherals please. Regardless i watch and love all our vids
Or they could have added room on the power supply side for another 2 fan rad. Modders will probably do it.
The first video in which you said where Dollar Shave Club shipped to. I just happen to live in Australia so I'm actually considering it now.
"audibly annoying" or "annoyingly audible" ..... very informative as always. thanks
having an air 540 already, i feel I need to make a media pc with this just so i can have the full set. and I can only hope that corsair will make an air 840 for those massive builds!

Luke's taking over for a little while since Linus' wife just had a baby
Element921 thankyou
Very cool case. Keep up the good work.
Im waiting for enthoo evolv and mini xl to arrive myself
there is the caslabs s3.s5.s8 there dual chamber but the setup for mobo is horizontal.
The Fractal seems to be better in most respects, a much better design (Looking at those massive gaping holes in the Air 540 corsair!).
TheWargod56
Those gaping holes are perfect for mounting radiators.
Read on a forum that the EVGA, PNY, and Gigabyte G1 970 WILL fit into the case.
Debating to get this case or the ThermalTake V21. Hopefully thats help's for anyone who's curious.
AWESOME LITTLE CASE
Worth the time to look into :D
as expected from the little brother of the 540 air
great look an easy to use
i am happy with my 540 and considering 240 for another build
They could have increased the size by a few inches either up or make it just a few inches more square. But overal grade moddable case. I might just get this soon!

i love the slow-motion thing of luke :)))
sometimes its pretty exaggerated :))
This looks like one of the best mATX cases, even in April 2017.
It's Slick/LukeTechTips right now until Linus comes back =D
Like seeing Luke in more vids, he's so dreamy!
Wow! This episode in 1080p looks super sharp (OwO)
Got this case, really love it. Only bad thing is i had to get a low profile 8 pin and 6 pin connector for my GTX 970. As the ones that came with my Corsair HX850i , made it difficult to close the side panel properly.
+Frank Castle how are the stock fans are they laud ?
Damjan25 yeah, when they're under load. when I replaced the 780m GTX with the 980m, the fans were dirty as hell, tried to clean, them but i think i should replace them as well.
I think Linus has a baby. That is why it's Luketechtips.
Can we mix it between slick and linus doing these reviews.. I like both of you
I have a 540 Air and i fucking LOVE IT! I don't need a smaller computer but in case you do i'd say buy this or any other Corsair case!
For everybody who's asking where Linus is:
He has a new Linus (or Linussa?) and needs to take care of the older baby Linus as well.
Heads up, an EVGA 1070 FTW will fit, however you cannot use the clear panel since the power cables will stick out.
Wow, was just checking previous video and suddenly a new one popped up.
