    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The demonstration done on a 'mock-up' would make us understand how to approach bulky trasmission tunnels by using 'trimming carpet' on a car floor.
This tutorial would also make us understand how 'real carpets' are done on real car floors. It also stands out how useful is the material called 'carpet underlay' which has the purpose to 'insulate' and add 'body' to the metal floor. The 'underlay material' on this video is only a 'sample'. Thicker and special materials are sold in upholstery stores.
I have used a 180 needle size and thick polyester thread 138 (number zero in Mexico)
These techniques will be done on a real car and shown in our near future courses.
If the transmission tunnel is slightly flat it is possible to carpet-flooring with no cuts at all. Just some holes and thin cuts. Most of the times we need to do these 'cuts' and do it in parts. There is no other ways, because this 'trimming material' is 'not stretchy'.
On the other hand, 'molded carpets' are 'stretchy' because they were especially manufactured for this purpose. They have a kind of lattex/rubber on their reverse side that adds hardness that becomes 'elastic' when adding some 'heat' and put are under a hydraulic press between 2 'big dies' (male and female).
I hope you find some inspiration in this video!
    Cesar

Hello, master of upholstery ! I have a 1988 model 4-door Mitsubishi Pajero (montero). floor coverings were no longer usable after 33 years. I went to many places to have new flooring. However, the places I went to either demanded extremely high prices or did not want to do it because the job would take a long time. Thanks to your tutorial videos, I was able to do this myself. I cannot express my happiness of being able to do the job myself in words. It is very nice to be able to access educational-instructive content this way today, where social media is so integrated into my life and the ridiculous content is so proliferated.
    Thank you so much.
Is there any way I can show my gratitude to you?

I would like to ask this. After the replacement of the perimeter rubber seal of the car chassis, the old rubber had a trim that covered the plastic parts of the inside of the car. So , after this remain a gap between the upholstery and the plastic parts. Is there a way to cover it up so it doesn't look ugly? Thank you a lot!

    • @Cechaflo
