Jam packed vlog 👍. Thank you and for sharing your enthusiasm. Have you an invisible zip foot for your machine? I know we should be able to do a good invisible zip without a special foot. But it really made them work for me. So much so I have one for each of my machines🤦🏻♀️. Maybe a bit if overkill. I even dodge doing ordinary and lapped zips now. I really must practice a zip. Looking forward to your next 5. x
Great to see you back. I have to tell you I thought of you this morning, and it raised my mood 😂 I got fabric thru the post this morning and just screamed O MY WORD. I have now got a new phrase that seems to have embedded in my brain. No matter how much fabric we have, it's like we don't have any when we see another parcel in the post 😂😂😂 ❤❤
Stones Fabric is amazing isn’t it (their interfacing is the best I’ve used) my salon used to be a few doors down from them so had to walk past them at least twice a day! Now I live 10 mins away so still in temptation distance. Make 140 amazing too☺️
Another lovely video ❤️. I'm late watching as I was away for the weekend but I was pleased to see a video from you waiting when I got back so thank you. I haven't made my lounge suit a la Sewsarahstyle yet but it's on my list. I really love the Mimosa on you - so versatile in black x
@@sosewmad Thank you - the weekend was wonderful - went up to Yorkshire to see my granddaughter - and she took us to see Wicked at the Alhambra in Bradford - wow! How is your week going? xx
The fabric swap sounds like it was so fun! Your LB Pullover/trouser sets look very comfortable and your MF Mimosa jacket is gorgeous. I don’t like inserting invisible zips that are sewn through a waistband, but recently saw a tip to add a hook & eye which you hook prior to zipping up the zip. Back to cropped trousers and a top to wear with them. Happy sewing, Cara.
Definitely I think the lap zip is the way to go - my plan was to use the merchant and mills Eve to create a lap zip on the Brooklyns - think you would have to amend the original pattern - the stitch sisters have a lap zip tutorial/ aid I think. Love seeing your makes,so inspiring xx
I moved from the Ashdown Forest to Herefordshire a couple of years ago , nice to see some sewers in Sussex. Sounds like a great event. Need to find some in Herefordshire!
I brought in the Mimi G pattern, so pleased it has gone to a good home! The man from our little sewing shop in Uckfield, Sew and Sew, says he will donate some fabric to the next event so hopefully the event will grow and grow. Lovely to meet you at the swap - felt like i knew you even though we have never met. Off to a bra workshop at Dot to Dot this weekend which should be interesting.
I have my volume on high, but still have a very hard time hearing you. I don't seem to have this problem with other youtubes that I watch, and thought I would let you know in case others are having the same problem. Also, I love your cow picture! I grew up on a dairy farm here in Wisconsin USA. We had holstiens too.
Hi Cara, I’ve made the Karla loungewear set and I found the sizing very true to my measurements. I wonder if Ruan came a cropper because she used a rib knit, and I always find they stretch out? I’ve done a review on my channel if you’d like to see the fit I got using the size recommended by the chart. I honestly love them, they are so comfortable and I think they look great on (if I do say so myself 😂)
I just bought an entire bolt of brick colored cotton fabric with an embroidered border, similar to your embroidered border print denim. It has the embroidered print on both sides, like yours does, however the one side looks like sprays of flowers, but the other side is more like a 5" or 6" band with a stripe border on the top and bottom of the band and flowers throughout, between the two stripes. Hopefully that makes sense. I have no idea how to use it because the two sides are different, but it was too pretty to leave behind. I am thinking of making a shift dress, capris, a sleeveless top, and a jacket, that I can mix and match, but I have to work out how to use the borders. I do have a big 4 pattern with all that in one, but it uses plain cotton or linen. Do you have any ideas?
As an ambassador of maison fauve could you pass on my disappointment that their sizes are not inclusive enough. Many of their designs would be beautiful for plus size workwear and it’s always so disappointing to find they don’t go up to the larger sizes.
With the mimosa Jacket I am 5.3. Do you think I need to shorten it. I like long jackets anyway so tempted not to with my first one but just thought I would check
Oh that’s a great question I’m not sure actually I think the best thing to do would maybe hold the front pattern piece up against you and see what you think, it does come to mid thigh so it’s quite long but it might just give you a different style to keep it longer?
@@sosewmad So I made it. Looks great not too long at all. Tempted to take my next one in at the shoulders. Oh that feeling of bagging out excitement and trepidation all in one. I need to get out more x
Quick question, I didn’t hear what type of fabric the jacket is that that you made. That black fabric is perfect for the jacket. I realize it was a D stash, but could you give us your best guess? Thanks so much and as always, I’m enjoying each video.
Thank you so much, sorry I should have said, it’s a heavy cotton twill. I thought they still had some, but sadly it’s not the same that’s turned up, but the black cotton twill on the rainbow fabrics website is lovely, my order has just arrived
@@sosewmad thank you so much. I will look and see this weekend if I can find some from them. Being in the states, I may look around here as well. I am lucky that my daughter lives in Croydon so sometimes it’s cheaper to send to her and then just get it the next time I see her! With the cost of mailing boxes these days it’s worth it. I did go out and download the vest pattern so I am very excited about trying my hand at that this week. I’ll let you know how it works. (or doesn’t.) 🙃
@@TheEconWoman wow that’s awesome, keep me posted on the vest pattern, it really is awesome! How lovely to have a daughter here in Croydon, best of both worlds
@@sosewmad I watch Peggy Sagers, Silhouette Patterns on TH-cam, and her audio is often a bit low also. I watch a lot of TH-cam channels and usually have to turn sound down on most. Your voice is soft and that is possibly the reason.
As usual your sewing is impeccable. I enjoy seeing all your new and old makes.
Thank you Joyce it’s so lovely to hear from you, I really appreciate it
Thanks for sharing Cara 💙🧶🌈🍓
Thanks Jenny x
Lovely makes as always! Thank you for sharing!❤

Thank you so much, yup got the special foot, combo of being the wrong shape for an invisible zip and just knowing that a standard zip is more robust 😊
Lovely catch up x
I think I need to jump on this Derwent trouser train??
Lol honestly they are just the best! 😅
Aahh it was just so fabulous to meet up with you - what a fabulous afternoon ❤❤❤

Always a delight to see you. Looks like you had an awesome week. You picked up some nice fabrics, too.
