I could not agree more about the micro SD card. That stuff can actually be confusing and I bought the wrong one at Walmart several times just to find out it wouldn’t work in the drone. We fly drones but that doesn’t mean we are some kind of computer data microSD flash drive experts and the good cards that do work are pretty expensive if you just run to Walgreens and that is if they even have that particular high-speed card on the shelf.
Talk about the elephant in the room Dustin you are right on everybody else that has reviewed the Pro 2 are falling over themselves with how good it is. You have told it the way it truly is good for you. You certainly have provided an honest comprehensive review without glossing over the downfalls of this piece of machinery.
Android User here. I had the same problem updating the software. I had to use the DJI assistant 2 on my computer to update my zoom. As always, love your videos Dustin. They are very detailed, long, and never boring.
Thanks for showing the gimbal movements when the drone is starting up. Just want to make sure that my Mavic 2 Zoom's gimbal also doing the same thing with the slight twitches.
It must be something with Android. I didn't have any issues with activating my P3 4K or Mavic Air using my iPhone 7+. You'd think a company like DJI would have the resources to make sure it works correctly with at least the major Android vendors. Looking forward to the flight tests.

Another great video! You are so complete and easy on the ears! Something you may wish to try in the future - connect your phone with the USB port rather than that side port, just while you are doing these updates! You may even wish to use your clamp and always connect you phone this way? I used to have those exact same issues but changing the way I connect the phone to the remote solved that. Then once everything is updated, you can use the side port again if you want! Can't explain why this works, just found that it did!

Mag interference may be the reason why the phone didn't work. I think. Next, try doing this outside and it should go away. Some type of magnet may be interfering with the update maybe. So try doing that outside. Did it work? If yes, you just relieved my stress :)

I’m looking forward to the flight and range testing, as you mentioned the drone is expensive, but it is the camera we are paying for. Very informative although long, video. I have not had the type of problems, thank goodness. My Mavic2 Pro flies lovely. Made a few recordings. Although I have a 64Gb memory card in the drone, I get all my footage on my (new) Samsung A10. Is there a way that I can record onto the 64Gb without first filling up the 'phone USB? Looking forward to more tutorials. This one I found acceptable inasmuch that you take your time to explain. On the other tutorials, I had to consistently review to see which button gets tapped. For a beginner like me, it is very important to see which button it is. Thanks Dustin. Keep it up.
Dustin, I got the same problem when trying to update from the smartphone. Couldn't bypass this stupid error. I've finally used the PC update. And guess what ? At 99% of the pushing phase , (the crucial one) I got a blue screen !!!. I was very anxious but finally the yellow LEDs stopped blinking and the drone restarted after a moment with the green LEDs. DJI updates process are really a pain in the a***
The controller connector for charging is actually a Micro USB OTG connector. So it is a standard connector, but they really should have it as USB-C as they're doing it with everything else.
I had the same issues Dustin, I contacted dji and they said they are working on a fix. I used dji assistant 2. They said to clear cash in the settings. In my opinion dji assistant is way easier
I think the update and connection issues are fixed, at least for the iPhone. Just went through the whole process without a hitch. Thanks for this video. It made getting set up much easier! Sorry - you said that in the video. Hopefully android gets fixed!
Hi again, I used my mini 2 ipad and it worked great first time and I just use the mini just for my mavic 2 zoom. one thing to watch out for is update for landing is missing for a spot on landing in the latest app. Also my controller will not turn on with one quick press and then hold. It only works with a short press and 3 short presses and then it will go on. The best thing for me is it is really quiet as I also use it for herding cattle and sheep (they just look up until you get close to them)

Without doubt the best reviewer of drones on yt, great review and very in depth, loved the fact you shown how easy it was to replace the usb cable to swap phone brands, and very interesting about the iPhone/android thing and it didn't work at all on the M2P. Im running a Samsung s8+ and I hope thats gonna work, I like iPhones also but don't want to go and specifically buy one to work with a drone, cannot wait to get my hands on mine, I've preordered it nearly 2 weeks ago from my local dealer.

I should be getting my Mavic 2 next week. I was hoping DJI would have resolved all the Android bugs by now. Luckily, I have an iPad 4 Mini which I bought to use with my first Mavic Pro. Looking forward to the rest of your videos in this series.
My iPad mini 4 is useless after 11.1 update. I reset the pad and took everything off it with no luck still. I get about 5 min perfect then the horrible cpu over load message then it's crap and i have to land. Anything i can do to fix this?
Hi Dustin, I recently got the Mavic 2 Pro and I discovered that one of the arms creak when you fold it up. Is that normal? Also, what are your opinions on the camera quality of the Mavic 2 pro? Is the sharpness sufficient, are the pictures good looking? Don't know if I should return mine and get the Air!
The whole resource issue is more of an Android issue as that concept doesn't exists on iOS. Most everyone I know who has the majority of issues looks like they are more often on the Android side. I have been using DJI products for five years and no issues on iOS. Also the DJI refresh has a cost of less then $100 for each refresh so it is not a FREE replacement. It has built in storage... so that is why no micro SD card.
I had the disconecting problems with my mavic air, threw out that cable and used the full size cable with the usb directly to the middle bottom of controller. After doing that NO MORE PROBLEMS. I think there has been a bad batch of connecter cables for android. Wish that the sidfe sensors would work all the time, not just in trypod mode.

I like the SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB. You could go bigger also 64, 128 also but I like to only leave as much storage as needed for the day in case I lose the craft there is not more money unnecessarily lost.
I've tried upgrading the firmware on android sooo many times and it didn't work at all... As soon as I switched to and iPhone, it updated no problem. Why dji! Why
Apple is the way to go. It handles the apps for the drone a lot better than samsung’s and android phones. Warning, don’t buy android if you are going to fly your phone will crash.

Hello I just got a mavic 2 pro and as I am new to mavic I hear a cooling fan noise just after 2 or 3 minutes of keeping the drone on idle without flying is that normal? Is the cooling fan creates a little noise after some time idle turning on or just mine has any issues please let me know thank you
Glad to see you are safe also. What a pain in the arse if you have an android phone, I love this new Mavic but I can’t justify spending the money on another drone so similar to my pro. I’m seriously contemplating getting a used Typhoon because of the Dji no fly zones. I went to a beach a while back, couldn’t fly because of a power station that I could just about see on the horizon. Looking forward to your range test, they always make my palms sweat and thats just watching you.
Dustin, can you confirm whether there are any marks from shipping on the very back of the gimbal arm? Lots of reports of scratches where it has caught on plastic damper mounts behind during shipping. Trying to establish how common a problem it is before I take the plunge!
Some very light scuffs yes on back of roll gimbal motor. Nothing major but they are there. I had to look closely to notice them only after you pointed them out .
I did my Zoom updates with an iPhone -- no problem. Also .. iPad mini fits WITHOUT the need of a bracket. Fits right in to the same holder as the phone. You do need a different cable but I bought one for $9 off of Amazon. It's in beta for the Mavic 2 Zoom/Pro right now but maybe in a future could you do a demo of Litchi?

Yes, I'll be giving the Skydio 2 my full review treatment. Range looks to possibly be it's main limiting factor but I'll be testing that as well. I'll be reviewing it with all options.
No one ever mentioned the camera button on the controller is like a real camera where it has 2 detents for focus and then taking the picture. Couldn't figure out how to take a picture for a while. lol
We'll need to wait for DJI to fix with an update to app I believe or you could use an apple device. some say use DJI assistant app as a work around for Android which is quite rediculous to me 🤣🙃

I think the Autel Evo is a good balance between price and performance. Especially because the new mavic pro can't even do 4k 60 fps and the Evo's controller is better.

I haven't got one in since it is so expensive. It basically runs Android OS and I figure most everyone already has a phone or tablet to use anyway so maybe a select few will see this as an option. It also makes it much less portable.
So what are actually differents between PRO and ZOOM camera? Does Pro don't have zoom option? Also what they doing with Android. Can't believe that they can't make updates smooth. I found crazy good deal for Zoom version just at 1.000$. But with all this issues at Android I hardly see to buy this. I rather wait for Zino to see how will perform even is not in this class. But would be 3 or 4 times cheaper.
NOT Just Android! I had very similar issues with iPhone 8 Plus on the Mavic 2 Pro. After the initial firmware update I had one successful flight. The next day had firmware update required message. Long story shorter- on the second flight the controller lost connection and would not reconnect. It stayed in a hover at a height that I could reach it an turn on its side to stop the motors. Very scary at the other possibilities. Afterwards updates and attempts to reconnect failed both with Go 4 app and the DJI assistant 2.0. Waiting on instructions from DJI. So disappointed!
Hya Dustin, You had cobwebs on the brain in this great Mavic pro 2 video. I was watching the constant magnetic interference warning for 1/2 hour! It means that something was interfering with links on the devices. I own a bunch of DJI and they get upset seeing that warning. I had mine near a heater or a fan and they went biserk also. There is nothing wrong with androis and it is way more stable than sony crap. Apple is awful as well. I even have a Lenovo tablet I use and it works but should not. The M10.5 Lenovo Tab hd is great and screen is excallent Ipads are dim as some folks brain, LOL. Also try a little more patience will ya. Happy New Year man! Ray C. Florida
Hey Dustin, I'm having cache issues on my Android where it will only cache approx 430mb of cache video to my device(note 8) then it starts another video where it does the same. Another 430mb worth of video. Ugh. This sucks if you want to post more then a 5 min flight to TH-cam. Happening in all resolutions. Can you tell me if it's doing the same with yours! Thx so much. My MAVIC pro and Phantom4 Pro let me do a 20 min flight right to phone gallery. I'm set on Auto for cache video and audio to phone also to delete old cache if needed. This is not my first dji drone. Lol. I need help with this because this is how I share my videos to everyone. Presently I'm having to post part 1 part 2 part 3 etc etc etc. Lol. I know this could all be fixed in post but i do not edit nor do i want to. Lol any help would be much appreciated!

Yes, leave beginner mode on in the first setup limiting it to 100ft in all directions 👍

Offload the video from the 64gb card in the drone and you'll see a much clearer video. The cache to the phone is lower quality and resolution 👍

I like the SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB. You could go bigger also 64, 128 also but I like to only leave as much storage as needed for the day in case I lose the craft there is not more money unnecessarily lost.
I've tried upgrading the firmware on android sooo many times and it didn't work at all... As soon as I switched to and iPhone, it updated no problem. Why dji! Why
I know. I love Android but it has it's disadvantages in compatibility more than apple since it's much more fragmented 😥
Apple is the way to go. It handles the apps for the drone a lot better than samsung’s and android phones. Warning, don’t buy android if you are going to fly your phone will crash.
@@levistarkey3929 I've been flying several DJI drones including the M2P with a Samsung Galaxy note 8 since the day I got it 2 years ago and haven't had a single issue ' must be hit or miss on the phones. Here's the kicker I bought the smart controller for my M2P and my P4P v2 and guess what ? It's Android and works flawlessly 🤷

Hello I just got a mavic 2 pro and as I am new to mavic I hear a cooling fan noise just after 2 or 3 minutes of keeping the drone on idle without flying is that normal? Is the cooling fan creates a little noise after some time idle turning on or just mine has any issues please let me know thank you

Glad to see you are safe also. What a pain in the arse if you have an android phone, I love this new Mavic but I can’t justify spending the money on another drone so similar to my pro. I’m seriously contemplating getting a used Typhoon because of the Dji no fly zones. I went to a beach a while back, couldn’t fly because of a power station that I could just about see on the horizon. Looking forward to your range test, they always make my palms sweat and thats just watching you.

Dustin, can you confirm whether there are any marks from shipping on the very back of the gimbal arm? Lots of reports of scratches where it has caught on plastic damper mounts behind during shipping. Trying to establish how common a problem it is before I take the plunge!
Some very light scuffs yes on back of roll gimbal motor. Nothing major but they are there. I had to look closely to notice them only after you pointed them out .

I did my Zoom updates with an iPhone -- no problem. Also .. iPad mini fits WITHOUT the need of a bracket. Fits right in to the same holder as the phone. You do need a different cable but I bought one for $9 off of Amazon. It's in beta for the Mavic 2 Zoom/Pro right now but maybe in a future could you do a demo of Litchi?

Yes, I'll be giving the Skydio 2 my full review treatment. Range looks to possibly be it's main limiting factor but I'll be testing that as well. I'll be reviewing it with all options.
No one ever mentioned the camera button on the controller is like a real camera where it has 2 detents for focus and then taking the picture. Couldn't figure out how to take a picture for a while. lol

We'll need to wait for DJI to fix with an update to app I believe or you could use an apple device. some say use DJI assistant app as a work around for Android which is quite rediculous to me 🤣🙃

I think the Autel Evo is a good balance between price and performance. Especially because the new mavic pro can't even do 4k 60 fps and the Evo's controller is better.

I haven't got one in since it is so expensive. It basically runs Android OS and I figure most everyone already has a phone or tablet to use anyway so maybe a select few will see this as an option. It also makes it much less portable.

So what are actually differents between PRO and ZOOM camera? Does Pro don't have zoom option?
Also what they doing with Android. Can't believe that they can't make updates smooth. I found crazy good deal for Zoom version just at 1.000$. But with all this issues at Android I hardly see to buy this. I rather wait for Zino to see how will perform even is not in this class. But would be 3 or 4 times cheaper.
NOT Just Android! I had very similar issues with iPhone 8 Plus on the Mavic 2 Pro. After the initial firmware update I had one successful flight. The next day had firmware update required message. Long story shorter- on the second flight the controller lost connection and would not reconnect. It stayed in a hover at a height that I could reach it an turn on its side to stop the motors. Very scary at the other possibilities. Afterwards updates and attempts to reconnect failed both with Go 4 app and the DJI assistant 2.0. Waiting on instructions from DJI. So disappointed!
i also heard that the landing and take of it doesnt have presision landing return to home ,saw it on a youtube video

Hya Dustin, You had cobwebs on the brain in this great Mavic pro 2 video.
I was watching the constant magnetic interference warning for 1/2 hour!
It means that something was interfering with links on the devices.
I own a bunch of DJI and they get upset seeing that warning.
I had mine near a heater or a fan and they went biserk also.
There is nothing wrong with androis and it is way more stable than sony crap.
Apple is awful as well.
I even have a Lenovo tablet I use and it works but should not.
The M10.5 Lenovo Tab hd is great and screen is excallent
Ipads are dim as some folks brain, LOL.
Also try a little more patience will ya.

Hey Dustin, I'm having cache issues on my Android where it will only cache approx 430mb of cache video to my device(note 8) then it starts another video where it does the same. Another 430mb worth of video. Ugh. This sucks if you want to post more then a 5 min flight to TH-cam. Happening in all resolutions. Can you tell me if it's doing the same with yours! Thx so much. My MAVIC pro and Phantom4 Pro let me do a 20 min flight right to phone gallery. I'm set on Auto for cache video and audio to phone also to delete old cache if needed. This is not my first dji drone. Lol. I need help with this because this is how I share my videos to everyone. Presently I'm having to post part 1 part 2 part 3 etc etc etc. Lol. I know this could all be fixed in post but i do not edit nor do i want to. Lol any help would be much appreciated!

@@hayypapi4281 hello my friend. Are you having problems with the cache video to your device? I'm using Android and it's not caching all the videos to the phone it's breaking them up at approx 450gb. Then making another video. Sometimes the other video will be without sound. Ugh. I do not edit so i needed the cache to the device option. Any help will be appreciated
