  • In this video, I show you how to set up and compare the ease of use between the tabletop and Diegel Stained Glass Foilers. Watch as I set up both foiling units and foil a piece of glass on each one. I give you my opinion on which one I prefer to use and then you can decide for yourself which one you would like to purchase if you are wanting to buy one.
    This is my opinion only, and you are entitled to your own opinion. Please add comments to support one or the other in the comment section below in order to help others make a choice. Thanks.

    I’ve watched numerous videos on how to set up the table foiler but it wasn’t until I watched yours that I could actually set it up. Thank you.

    Thank you for sharing and your honesty. I’m a newbie and have hand / arthritis issues. Your video has helped me to consider the idea of a table top toiler.

      You are so welcome! I think you will be pleased with the table top version. Make sure you use the right size guide for your foil tape or you will run into problems with it folding over. I found out this the hard way. Cheryl

    The table foiler seems really great! I have a deigel foiler that I got second hand by someone who was selling his stained glass equipment. Thanks to your video, I learned to set it up. I had the same problems you did even though mine is attached to a board. I found the whole thing ran too freely, there was no tension so I decided to place the paper separater really close to the foil and voila! It had the needed tension and worked a whole lot better

      Hi Claudette, I will have to try that. Sounds like a good idea. Right now I'm using it as a foil holder. LOL

    Thanks !!! Gosh I sure wish I’d seen your video before I got the wrong one. All the issues you mentioned having with double roller is why I hate mine! I obsess trying to do it by hand so I got one which seems as hard as trying by hand !! After watching your video I’m going to order the table top one right now!

      Yeah, I don't use my Diegel Foiler at all. I love my tabletop. Just remember to keep the glass on the table and push it into the wheel. It will take a bit to get used to, but it is soooo much easier to use. Thanks for watching!!

    Thank you Cheryl Ann for being so clear on how to feed and use the table top foiler! I really thought I wasted my money as it was not working for me. Delphi should really link your video to theirs.

      Hi Kitty Fisher, your're welcome! I love my tabletop foiler. It makes it so much easier. But you must remember to push the glass against the roller as you go. It won't take long for you to get the hang of it though.

    As soon as I saw how you had to set the pin and move the glass on the Diegel foiler I thought it looked awkward and wouldn't work as well. I have to agree that the tabletop foiler seems to work much better, certainly for you. I'm sure that there are folks who use the Diegel with great effect but I would choose the table top one.

    • @artbycherylann8431
      @artbycherylann8431  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your input Lee. I like that the Diegel foiler holds two different sizes, but the tabletop version really takes a lot of the work off. The Diegel foiler doesn't fold the foil over and you have to do it manually. Just that fact, makes me want to use the tabletop one first. I'll continue to try the Diegel foiler after I get it mounted to a board. Maybe it will work better then. If it does, I'll do another video. Maybe someone who uses it, will comment and give their opinion. I wanted to give people who are looking to buy one a good view of each one. I hope this video accomplished that.

    Hi, thanks for the great video. Online there seems to be some pictures of the Diegel foiler with guides that sit over the wheel you press the glass against, and these look like they would help with the lining up... Were these not included with your machine?

    • @artbycherylann8431
      @artbycherylann8431  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi GentlemanSparky, Gee, I'll have to check that out. I don't know where it would attach if there is one. But, I will investigate that. Thanks.

    I have the tabletop foiler that I purchased from Delphi. I have continually tried to use this. The foil sticks, pulls, doesn’t crimp but messes up. I know there is a learning curve but, I have tried sooooo many times. Don’t use it at all, gave up.

    • @artbycherylann8431
      @artbycherylann8431  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kathy, The tabletop does take a bit of getting used to. You need to make sure you apply pressure against the wheel in order for it to crimp correctly. Take it slow and see if that helps. I do have some times that it doesn't crimp for me, but it was because I wasn't paying attention to the pressure against the wheel. I don't seem to have much trouble with the foil sticking. Perhaps its the brand you are using. Or, maybe your foil tape is getting old?
      If you should give it another try, let me know how you make out. Thanks for your comment.

    Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong I am adjusting as recommend but it’s not crimping back side and pulls loose on backside of table messing up foil. I’m about to pull my hair out! Purchased the last on and gave up still could not get foil even to both sides so bought the first one and now having problems with it! I have done everything mentioned and still no luck! Though I was gonna really be happy with the first one you showed I adjusted wheel, pressed in hard,etc. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

      Oh sorry after watching the whole video I see you have problems with the last one you showed as well. So forget that one but if you have any suggestions on the tabletop foiler to help me with the foil not crimping on back side and pulling back on table I really want to like this because I can NOT hand foil

    • @artbycherylann8431
      @artbycherylann8431  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sorry for the late response. I've been recovering from surgery. First make sure you are using the correct wheel for your size foil. This makes a huge difference. Then, be sure you are washing and completely drying your pieces. This is very important. The wheel can be adjusted to make sure your piece is in the middle for even application. Remember, not all glass is the same thickness so you will have to adjust for each glass type. You will have to burnish your pieces after you foil them. I hope this helps you. Cheryl

    If the diegel foiler isn’t secured to the table it won’t work. You should follow the directions before giving a bad review.

    • @artbycherylann8431
      @artbycherylann8431  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike, I purchased the Diegel foiler first and did secure it to my countertop. I just didn't have much success with it as I have with the Table Foiler and, because of that, I don't really use it. As with all tools and equipment, people have different preferences. If it works for you, please feel free to add your comment. Thanks for watching. :)

    • @artbycherylann8431
      @artbycherylann8431  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi VenomKraft, yes it might work better that way. I didn't want to fix it to my bench as it would take up real estate on my work bench. That is another reason I like the table foiler. I can take it anywhere I want to work. Thanks for the suggestion.
