Very instructional, thanks. I would personally do without the music, it does nothing to enhance the instruction, a distraction really. :)
Finally! The video I was looking for!
Are these canvas panels?
Neither one impressed me enough to buy one but then I lead came everything anyways.
I have had excellent results using 3m Command strips. Very simple to use. And the art panels, I have both ACM and hardboard, fits tight to the wall that has drywall. So far, nothing has fallen down in 10+ years and neither the wall or the art is damaged. They say will hold to 16 pounds per strip. For anything of size, I put two just to be safer. There are a few other options, and I am still searching for more. But I do want the art to lay nearly flush to the wall.
Why do my pendants usually get water inside when I wash/clean them?
Thank you , yes this was very helpful , you explained everything so well 😊
Those are so cute!
Hi, I purchased the pattern but what snowflakes do you use and where on Amazon do you find them? Thanks
I love this now I can use my left overs
My first time here. Very cute heart design. Inspiring. TY
Thanks for stopping by! Glad you liked it.
With this setup, does the panel hang slightly further from the wall at the top edge the way a canvas on wire would?
Yes, but only the width of the wood strip. And, if you add another wood strip on the bottom, it will hang straight from top to bottom.
Thank you for the detailed instructions. I have seen something similar done with a sawtooth hanger on the top block or even just using the wooden block to hang the piece on, which I think is a bit too precarious for my taste with no sharp edge for the nail to hold on to. I was glad to finally see someone put in the level of attention to detail that I strongly appreciate. It is rate to see an artist properly finish the back of their panel. Thank you!
You are very welcome, its another idea to hang such items.
Very inspiring!
Its very freeing to create with what you have on hand. Have fun with it.
❤ these!
Thank you.
Hi thank you for the videos, I was wondering if you could do a tutorial in real time on how to foil and solder from start to finish. I have never done that but I love the craft and have so much stained glass that I like to be able to create pieces.
I believe I have videos that cover all the steps. However, I plan to make more videos soon. A start to finish video might be rather long. But, if people would want to see that, I'm happy to create one. Cheryl
Thank you so much I am very grateful for this video you explained the process so clear for us beginner. I have so much stained glass that someone gave me and did not know what to do with them, as everyone said is very complicated and must go to school to learn the trade but at 70 yrs old do not have the energy. However with your explanation I think I can do this. I have subscribed
Thank you. I try to make my videos clear. If you have any questions, please ask. I'm happy to help. And, yes you can do this. Especially if you already have the glass. Have fun with it. Cheryl
What foil are you using ?
I use different brands, but I also have links to what I use in the video descriptions.
Love this
Thank you.
How fun
They have been a hit. Very easy to make as well. Thanks.
💝💌
Thank you.
Thank you for the tutorial, I really like the trees. I see in some videos that people use patina and polish to finish their projects. I am concerned about selling an item and having it tarnish on the customer. I'm confused about when it is or is not necessary? Thank you
If you leave the solder alone, it will get a patina to it. Meaning it will darken and become less shiney. If you decide to patina it, you can use the black and then lightly buff it with a red scotch pad. This will give it a gun metal look which will not change much. I hope this helps.
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. Thanks for watching!
is it important do use the flat part of the soldering iron, or the side skinny part of the soldering iron to apply and smooth the solder?
I find that if I apply the solder to the flat part of the iron but use the side of the iron allowing the solder to run off onto the foil allows for more control. I also find a lighter touch works best and you need to be sure to move the iron as you do this. It does require some practice. But, don't fear if its not perfect the first go round, you can go over your solder lines with the iron to either add more solder or smooth it out better. As with anything, practice and you will get better and find out what works best for you. Hope this helps. Cheryl
thank you
You're welcome.
Thank you for sharing and your honesty. I’m a newbie and have hand / arthritis issues. Your video has helped me to consider the idea of a table top toiler.
You are so welcome! I think you will be pleased with the table top version. Make sure you use the right size guide for your foil tape or you will run into problems with it folding over. I found out this the hard way. Cheryl
Beautiful pieces❤.
Thank you! 🤗
I also need help attaching them please.
Hi Sharon, if you watch some of my videos on soldering, I show how I attach them. It is very easy, but can be fiddly. I put the ring under the edge of the piece where I want it attached. Make sure you flux the ring as well as the piece. Then, with a little solder, just tap a small amount on either side of the ring. If the ring fills with solder, just heat it up and start again. You will get better at this. Let me know if this helps. Thanks Cheryl
What are all the materials you meed
If you want to make your own patterns, you will need a cricut or plotter. There are all kinds of vinyl materials for T-shirts. It depends on what you like. Then, I would set your T-shirt press according to the material you purchase. You can also purchase pre-made T-shirt transfers that someone else has designed.
Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong I am adjusting as recommend but it’s not crimping back side and pulls loose on backside of table messing up foil. I’m about to pull my hair out! Purchased the last on and gave up still could not get foil even to both sides so bought the first one and now having problems with it! I have done everything mentioned and still no luck! Though I was gonna really be happy with the first one you showed I adjusted wheel, pressed in hard, etc. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!
Oh sorry after watching the whole video I see you have problems with the last one you showed as well. So forget that one but if you have any suggestions on the tabletop foiler to help me with the foil not crimping on back side and pulling back on table I really want to like this because I can NOT hand foil
Sorry for the late response. I've been recovering from surgery. First make sure you are using the correct wheel for your size foil. This makes a huge difference. Then, be sure you are washing and completely drying your pieces. This is very important. The wheel can be adjusted to make sure your piece is in the middle for even application. Remember, not all glass is the same thickness so you will have to adjust for each glass type. You will have to burnish your pieces after you foil them. I hope this helps you. Cheryl
where can i get a foil wrapper
If you click on the video description below for more information, there is a list of materials that I use with links to Amazon for the items. Thanks for watching!! Cheryl
I ❤️ love you Art work I don't know to much about do glass art and would like learn more about it you do beautiful work God bless you ❤️ 🙏 Thank you 😊
Thank you so much. Thanks for watching too.
Thanks for this hey what bout shipping charge?
As of right now, Anything Stained Glass has a minimum order of 10 sheets of 12 x 12 glass. Other sizes have different minimums. The shipping charge for their small box is $6.00 and 20 pieces of 12 x 12 glass fit in their small box. There are other size boxes as well. You can check this out on their website. They are currently having their winter sale. You should check it out. Thanks for watching!
I think I am wrong about the shipping fee. The $6.00 small box charge is for the boxing. I'm not sure what I was charged for shipping. It was a while ago. I know my total order for 20 pieces of 12 x 12 glass was $104.00.
I'm beginning to have problems with hand tremors - the tabletop foiler appeals to me - thanks for the review.
It should help you then. Let me know how you make out.
Thanks !!! Gosh I sure wish I’d seen your video before I got the wrong one. All the issues you mentioned having with double roller is why I hate mine! I obsess trying to do it by hand so I got one which seems as hard as trying by hand !! After watching your video I’m going to order the table top one right now!
Yeah, I don't use my Diegel Foiler at all. I love my tabletop. Just remember to keep the glass on the table and push it into the wheel. It will take a bit to get used to, but it is soooo much easier to use. Thanks for watching!!
so cute
Thank you.
I want to hang hardboard panel oil painting(20/30). Since it has a paper cover on the back, I want to know will it work for that
I'd have to see it before I can comment.
This is great! Do you use regular white card paper with the design on it while you’re soldering?
No. In the abstract work, I will pre-fit the pieces then solder them together. Freeform style. Cheryl
When buying the charms, do you buy a quality charm for silver?
No, there is no need to buy sterling silver which is more expensive.
Thank you. I wasn’t sure which one to get.
I just love my table foiler. You will too.
Thank you.
You're welcome! Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
Can u please recommend a good brand of copper tape the. Tape i ordered doesn't seem stick well
Hi Teresa, I use Studio Pro amzn.to/3TDJhoI
Table foiler is great. One of my best purchases for stained glass
Yes, it is great! Happy Holidays!!
I am new. I have a foil table just like this one and no matter what I do it sort of chews up the foil. I have watched a ton of vidos and still can not seem to get it work like it should.
How do you know which charms are solder friendly? The ones you linked to are currently unavailable and I don't necessarily need snowflakes. Just wondering what to look for.
Most enameled charms will work. They are a zinc metal alloy.
wery cool👍
Thank you.
How did you clean the trees after you assembled them?
I use a separate sponng for my stained glass work using Dawn dishsoap. Scrub in all the nooks and crannies to be sure to remove the flux. Otherwise, the flux could damage the glass if you leave it on for too long. Then, give your pieces a polish with carnuba wax or at least polish them with Pledge. This will prevent your solder from changing color over time. Happy Holidays!
I don’t think you need to show how you solder every tree. It wastes time.
Thanks for your advice.
Hey! If you're doing ornaments why didn't you used lead free?
I usually use lead free for jewelry. I haven't really thought about it. Thanks.
Hi Cheryl Ann I watch your videos often. I cut my pieces and they fit great on the pattern but when I foil them and I really try hard to do a good job with that they don't fit well . Yours always fit well so what am I doing wrong???
Hi, when you cut your patterns out are you using foil shears? Foil Shears: amzn.to/2MuSPlo They cut out the space between the pieces that allows for the width of the foil. If you don't allow for that small sliver of space, your pattern will tend to grow or not fit properly. Also make sure you grind off all of your marker and keep checking for fit using a copy of your pattern to lay the pieces onto. Let me know how you make out.
@@artbycherylann8431 thank you!!!
A lot of love and patience goes into making stained glass ornaments. They look so lovely.
