There's an old flashback from Ymir in a previous episode where she says she was a vagrant girl who got picked up by a cult to be their "Ymir". So I think the prevailing theory is that Eldians from Marley that wanted to bring back their old empire took this vagrant kid and then put her on a pedastal, and when they were found out, they all got sent to the wall and injected. Vagrant girl named Ymir got titan-ified, then slept for decades getting buried by rock and dirt, until it ate Marco and became the Ymir we met in S1.
I love the idea that the solution to the Eldian Marley problem is they need to sit down and watch Shrek.

Colossal Titan is basically Marley’s nuclear weapon so the holder *has* to be someone passive and easy to control. That’s why they chose good ol’ Bert.
Also why Armin makes a good colossal titan.
that's not the only thing tho, he was super equipped with weapons in general. Reiner mentions how he controlled the Colossal on his first try which we haven't seen anyone do before. So sure his personality played a role but his abilities too.

@@jorex4011 we didn't see his training but marley knew he had skills. Porco only described Reiner as being without skill, not Bert (before they were chosen)
I just was curious on why Marley sent kids instead of adults and the reason was cause kids are easily manipulated and that way would be loyal also cause Marley didn't want to officially announce war cause then the king fritz... Uk what I mean. Intresting no?
I still believe they should have sent adults.
As long as the warrior candidates were born and raised in Marley one way or another they would be brainwashed to an extent. Like did you not see how reiners mom was acting?
Perhaps they could have waited for the warriors to grow a bit more before they sent them.
@@kappapi107 Reiner's mom doesn't have power. Only a kid can be manipulated to do exactly what you want him to, despite him having tremendous power. In fact, the adult titan shifter in the show have been shown to be doing their own thing, despite what their so called superiors wanted of them. The older they are, the better they are at hiding their true agendas.

In my previous comment when I referred to the mom I was just trying to make a point that even adults can be/have been brainwashed by Marley ( which makes sense since reiners mom lived there her entire life). I know that she doesn’t have power but if someone like her were to become a warrior… I don’t know, don’t you think she would have a higher chance of succeeding? Especially since she’s older so she’s hated paradis eldians longer and it’s not easy to change a person like that.
Just like in the real world with older generations. There are things they don’t believe in that younger people do. I don’t know if I am doing a good job at explaining my point of view….
but yeah. 😅
On the other hand, sending kids can also backfire in the sense of..yeah you can brainwash them and train them but at the end of the day they are kids so they can get distracted.
Anyways, I still think that Marleys strategy wasn’t ideal.
@@kappapi107 I get your point of view. But I don't even think that someone like Reiner's mom could become a warrior. To get through all that training and be a finalist, you need to have a selfish goal strong enough to motivate you through it, and I don't think being Marley's lapdog will cut it as motivation. But also, how brainwashed is she really? Cause to me, it just seems like she is making rather sensible decisions given the options she has, the options all eldians from Liberio have:
- get a warrior in you family and suck up to Marley, then you get all the same rights and freedom as Marleyans.
- sympathize with Paradis or speak against Marley in any way, then you get turned into a monster and thrown to waste away.
Seen this way, her choices seem rather sensible.
Now is she became a shifter, suddenly she would have the power to create her own options. If she were presented a situation in which betraying Marley results in the best outcome for herself, her family and her fellow eldians, I'm sure she would do it in a heartbeat. Same as Gabi.
easier to make it into the refugee camp, they can act like they lost their parents since there was no record because of the destruction, and easier to make it into the army because they were young

I don't understand why they don't explain about Ymir's backstory since they have it all messed up and they won't go into her story anymore.
They don’t want to spoil anything but I completely agree. It’s pretty obvious this group doesn’t pay much attention at times or can’t remember some of the smaller details. There’s been a lot of moments where they where derailing hard but they still didn’t explain anything even tho it’s in the episode they watched. Like at least replay bits of the episode lol.
