- Joyce and I sat in our front yard and watched the 2024 total eclipse. I also timed the playing of the Pink Floyd Album "The Dark Side of the Moon" so that the song "Eclipse" would play during the totality moment... especially the line "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon"...
This is not a filtered, high-end camera. It was Joyce's cell phone with no special filters and we are not pros, but you still get the Halo, even though the view is quite different than the naked eye. (Yes, once the eclipse is full, you can look with the naked eye and not the special glasses for a couple minutes).

Keren...selamat pagi dari Batam island.......semoga sukses....
Thanks.
Great front row seat. I'm 70 and have yet to see a total eclipse in California. Glad you and Joyce had the opportunity. Bill from California
This was certainly our first. The last total eclipse in this area was before this city existed. It was just a trading post called "Fort Industry" in 1806.
Awesome.
What a great experience.
Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was cool for us!
Hi Joyce, a truly amazing event outside your house, that deserves a huge wow. We did not get to see it here, so thanks for sharing your video :) :) :)
LoL... I was filming, Joyce was just chatting away with the neighbor who came out just in time.
How wonderful to see such an amazing event, thank you for sharing this with your friends from overseas.
Thank you for watching! I wish we had better cameras to really catch it.
Very cool. Rained all day where we were. Thanks for sharing. Dave
That has been the Toledo luck for many astronomical events, but we had decent skies this time... the best one to have it work out. Last one here was 1806.
Awesome........this dont happen that often. thank you for sharing...Tony.
Last time there was a 100% totality in this area, my city didn't even exist... it was just a trading post called "Fort Industry and Port Lawrence (1806)"
Very good Anthony quite a special thing to watch cheers Andy
It was something very cool... and fun... timing the album and starting it at the same time so that the eclipse hit at the right time on the album... no one complained about the music (we did not play it too loud, but it was definitely audible)- made it a fun event for sure.
Hi Anthony Always a great few moments watching an eclipse, gives a sense of 'The bigger picture'. Thanks for sharing
It was amazing to see the full eclipse with the naked eye. We, like everyone, have had partials and lunar eclipses many times, but the full was something else.
Hi Anthony, thanks for sharing this rare experience of an eclipse. Cheers, Paul.⚫🟡
Somebody gets one every 18 months, it was finally our turn. Last one in this area was 1806.
You got a Good View.Awesome capture
Thanks, Arthur. I tried. I wish I had a better camera to show how it looked in the sky. Our phone cams actually distort the image.
NHi Joyce thank you for videoing and sharing . For those of us in the land down under .it was great to see regards Grev
Hi Greg...it was something to behold, and usually, this area clouds up and rains on such events.
Had a public holiday watching the Eclipse did we???lol
Must say it is a cool event.
Not really. The school system gave the kids the day off, but Joyce had to work a half day. Most folks had to work as normal.
Hope you enjoyed it 👍
It was very, very cool. We had seen partial sin the past, but this was a totality... first one since 1806 here, and even most of the partials are on cloudy days here. lol
Hi Anthony. Thanks for sharing, must have been amazing. All the best Stefan
Es war ganz interessant und ausgezeichnet.
Thank you for sharing
There is a total eclipse somewhere every 18 months or so, but the last one here was 1806. So, I am glad I got to see it.
Very cool 😊
Thanks 😁
Cool beans 🫘
It was fantastic to see for us, especially the totality with the naked eye. Just wish we had caught it on camera properly.
Really cool 👍
Thanks, Deano. We were quite happy to be able to see it. In Toledo, clouds and rain often override these events.
Well, we're still alive...
All the doomsayers were wrong again.
Very cool Anthony.
Thanks, JD.
Very cool! - Jenny
Thanks. Our city was just inside the totality line, so we were lucky. I am not a camera guy and just used my phone. I wish I could have captured how the totality looked to the naked eye.
@@ModelTrainOutsider Your welcome, We were at 90% but Steve and our friend Matt went to SE Illinois and got some trains with the total eclipse so he will be working on that video for this upcoming Saturday premier.
Amazing
When the totality hits and you can see it with the naked eye, it is amazing! Sadly, the camera did not capture it the same way.
@@ModelTrainOutsider We have had one in my life time here, going dark for that short time was unreal feeling, I believe the next one here is 2090 ish
Good stuff Anthony! I never pulled mine off, didn't want to take any chances, lol!
There should have been a moment when you saw nothing with the glasses (it would have been all black), that's when you can take them off and see the silver light of the sun around black moon. Awesome sight!
@ModelTrainOutsider yeah, when I had the glasses on, it was just pitch black, I guess I was just to gun shy to take them off.
Very cool, but still think Monty Python's Flying Circus The 1972 Eclipse of The Sun, so you have been eclipsing. Take care, stay safe, and have fun
Well, we didn't have our smoked glass or trout... and, we actually avoided rain, which is a Toledo curse for such events (partial eclipses, meteor showers). Joyce watched the video and softly scolded me for not telling her I was recording while she was talking to our neighbor. lol
At 40 seconds in, your eclipse looks like a donut.
It did indeed.
