Where were you during the eclipse? I've been digging through some old footage during the downtime. This was an amazing experience so I'm glad to finally share it with you all.
Never got to a full eclipse here in England. About 90% perhaps, withmultiple weird blue crescents and light rays at about the 10 o'clock position - very apocalyptic and weird.
Great memories. I was with some friends & colleagues from my astro society up in the mountains just west of the Tetons. It was my first total eclipse. th-cam.com/video/hUNJw3AxdxY/w-d-xo.html
I'm glad you're posting these Chris. I didn't experience this one, but I was fortunate enough to view a total eclipse some years ago. I was among a large group of people, and I remember a hush coming over the whole crowd, and then spontaneous applause - which is a slightly strange thing to do, I don't think that sun could hear us - but at the same time a very human reaction. I couldn't help but relive some of this watching your own eclipse, and it was hard not to get caught up in your enthusiasm for the event!

I have to give you mad props for this. Not only because of the good footage & documentation but how you literally expressed & noted all of the unseen such as the ambient temperature changes, the lighting of the day of the surroundings. How the crickets came out. The behavior of the animals. Just the change in everyday life behaviors during this event was pretty spectacular. Thanks for this video it truly is mind boggling & well worth watching over & over!!!

What I so love about this video is the obvious joy that Chris felt as he experienced the eclipse. "This is SO cool!" I sense that joy and simple wonder in many of his videos. He has the eyes of a child and I mean that in the very best sense. Chris: As my late Mom used to say to me, "don't get old."
Do you know how LUCKY you were to have clear skies!? And so close to the edge of the eclipse path - short totality but would have been an awesome diamond ring effect. A bit jealous. Well done and thanks for sharing.
@@Face_Reality Well, maybe 'jealous' is a bit strong. And admittedly we did see the eclipse, but only after a two-hour car-chase to stay ahead of clouds. And, whilst it was pretty awesome, I've often heard that an eclipse seen from the edge of the path of totality can be even more spectacular. This observer seemed to be fortunate enough to have a very chilled experience all round.
I've never seen a total eclipse before, other than on TV, but this video really put me on the scene. I did experience a partial eclipse 30-40 years ago in northern Wisconsin. Went into my front yard, armed with two white paper plates, one with a pinhole in the center, turned my back to the sun, and watched the sun imitate a phase of the moon---on a paper plate. Got no side effects, though, as it was only partial. Thanks for posting this, Chris. Everybody stay safe.
I went for the full solar eclipse on the Oregon coast a few years ago! It got really foggy, the temperature dropped, and the birds were all flying inland like it was time to go roost. Really cool to see your experience of this one in a different setting!
Hi Chris, I remember being in my first total eclipse in 1999 here in the UK, it was just so surreal. From my vantage point on a hill I could look down at my horses in the field and they just froze and stopped eating, it got real cold and the wind picked up and everything was just silent, very weird but a very cool experience. The part of the eclipse at 3:45 in the video is called the diamond ring as that is just what it looks like. I glad you got to experience it, there is nothing that really compares to the feelings you get when it hits totality and then you see the sun start to shine again, awesome. Thanks for sharing this 2017 footage, take care. xx
Very cool !! I witnessed this in Seneca, SC... It was a once in a lifetime, incredible experience that is for sure.. I'm glad you uploaded this during these troubled times. It put a smile on my face!!

Me. I live 15 miles west of Austin. It is supposed to be overcast. And then thunderstorms. Yeah, bummer. But still super excited. It’s the surroundings and the wildlife that interests me. We’re in the path of totality. Experiencing pitch-dark at 1:30 in the afternoon. It’s going to be surreal.
I experienced the total eclipse in '17 the most awesome experience of my life. The most phenomenal thing for me was it went from dusk dark to night dark in an instant. It was like turning off a light switch only you were outside. I felt special because all I had to do was go out on my deck to view it, front row seat to the best show on earth and it was free.
It reminds me of the total eclipse in France (where I still live) back in August 1999. More than 20 years ago! Same experience, your video brought back many memories. Thank you!
This is so awesome. I’m from around the Portland area of Oregon, and this was one of the two most amazing moments in my life. As soon as it hit 100%, everything went silent. It was a silence that was not just heard but felt; almost like a pressure change- so crazy! Loving all the uploads!

There is such a bizarre feeling when an eclipse happens. It's a feeling that can't be verbalized but it feels spiritual. I cannot wait to experience the next one and I hope to find myself in an open field like this one with no one around.
Flew to Nashville just to witness this. And yes, all the crickets came out and all the street lights went on and went from hot to cool. It did look like the sun was setting everywhere you looked. It kinda made you feel like you were tripping 🤣 . I only wished it lasted longer, because it’s truly amazing! I think we get another one in 2022. It’ll come right over NY state🤞🏻

I experienced this from inside the path of totality as well! I was in South Carolina, and it was such a beautiful experience. It was such an odd tone of light that illuminated everything during totality - almost like I was looking through polarized sunglasses. I also heard crickets start to chirp as well!
I remember when I watched the 1999 total solar eclipse in Hungary. I was on a open field like yourself and witness the eclipse there. I remember all the crickets suddenly started making a lot of noise and the mosquitos started biting me. It was in August so the weather was really hot and we also had this weird sunset feeling. It was so awesome! Your video brought back a lot of great childhood memories. Thanks for sharing with us! Glad you witnessed it.
This was one of the most awesome days of my life! I was an intern at Cox Enterprises in Atlanta. They gave out those "special glasses" so we could look at it. The way it got so dark in the middle of the day.. I LOVED it! It was just so atmospheric & ominous. I wish it was like this everyday lol.
This is so neat, just you and the windmill, breeze. I got a sensation from this! I remember in Houston, we got 1/3 coverage on a very hot day. That bit of difference cooled us a bit. Such a neat experience. Hurricane Harvey came through the following August. A year full of natural events 😎
My first time of experiencing such an eclipse was at school where we were all given those eclipse spectacles in the morning and we were told that when the time would come we would be asked to go out to watch this phenomenon. I still remember it was lunch time and the eclipse had just started so i went outside and wore those spectacles. I was just amazed at that scene since it was a first time and the eclipse was like a quarter in. By the time the sun was fully covered, I was in the school gym playing badminton. I vividly remember thinking about how dark it was for 1p.m and we even had to switch on the lights for some minutes during which we were called outside to watch the eclipse. It was honestly a wonderful experience.

That looked like a great place to watch it. Surprised at how cold it got as you said it was in the 80s. Monday, April 8, 2024 will be a total eclipse in parts of the US (Texas through Maine) and elsewhere. The path of totality passes through central New York State near where I live, so I'll be in the 99% viewing range. But being it's in April AND central NY, it may be cloud city above us (ha ha). Fingers crossed. Great video!
I live in a town whose self proclaimed claim to fame is "X.... 2 hours from everywhere." I lie not. If you're 100 miles from everywhere, where are you?
I remember seeing the eclipse happening and it honestly like like a black hole in the sky as if something was going to come out of it. In Act 2:20 it speaks of this that the sun will turn black and the moon red. Recently scientists found rust on the moon causing it to turn red. Y’all the scripture is being fulfilled right in front of us. The second coming of Lord Jesus Christ is not far away now❤️🙏🏾
Went to Hopkinsville, KY in 2017 to see. Totality and one of the best spots in the world. Met a ton of great people from all over the world. I can definitely second your experience! The birds and bugs were fooled for sure.
I was at work when this happened. I live in Florida, so we didn't get the full view but it was noticeable and it did get slightly dark. It was like when you look out through lightly tinted windows. My mom however, at the time was living just outside of Portland. She was saying people came from all over the region to watch and it became dark enough that the street lights automatically came on. Crazy awesome.
I was at 6220 US-231, Castalian Springs, TN 37031 and I got to experience the whole 2.5 minutes of totality. Brought me to tears a bit. Then headed back to Chicago afterwards. I left for Tennessee at 3am and got back the next day at 2am
I’ll always remember getting to experience that solar eclipse. The best way I can describe the lighting was like wearing sunglasses but not wearing sunglasses lol
I live in suburban Seattle, so we didn't get a full show but the sky had such a weird tinge to it. Very good stuff. As usual amazing video. You pick the best stuff, the coolest places!!
I was in Nebraska for this too. I was in a giant field of sunflowers. I spread my dog Triggers ashes in the shadow of the moon. It was a highly emotional experience. I dropped down to my knees and cried. It was amazing. If I had the resources I would be chasing eclipses around the planet every year.
I'd love to see a total solar eclipse someday! I saw a partial eclipse in 2017 and it was really cool, about 78% here. I was the only one super impressed by it. At about 50% I was like "OMG it's like there's a cloud blocking the sun BUT I CAN STILL SEE THE SUN, OMG wow this is so cool!" and at the most it got I was like "wooooooah, this is surreal and so wonderfully eerie", I was so in awe I almost started to cry from overwhelming joy, my mouth hung open in awe, I even drooled on myself a little. I had to keep reminding myself not to look at it. A few people were like "if she's that impressed by this, imagine if she sees a total eclipse". I also was in awe the time I saw a total lunar eclipse in early 2019. Both were awe-inspiring, a little ominous and eerie, but wonderful, grand, magnificent, spectacular sights. We're getting a 95% solar eclipse here in April 2024. I imagine that'll be similar to experiencing a total eclipse?
I was in Oregon for this. Coolest thing I have ever experienced. It was so weird how you could tell the light was dying outside. It was early in the AM but it felt like it was a late afternoon. It sort of even got cold out.
This was an amazing experience to witness, I wish I would have gotten to see it! This video more than made up for that. I felt the excitement in the whole thing, and I couldn't get enough of it!
This is so awesome. I live in Atlanta and experienced something like 95% totality years back and it was soooo cool the way the light was and all the crescent moon shadows from the trees leaves. It reminds you of dusk but it's so eerily different. You can't put it into words but it's almost like an Instagram filter or something. Really cool you got to see 100% totality. I plan on witnessing it next time it rolls through on April 8th 2024.

In Act 2:20 it speaks of this that the sun will turn black and the moon red. Recently scientists found rust on the moon causing it to turn red. Y’all the scripture is being fulfilled right in front of us. The second coming of Lord Jesus Christ is not far away now❤️🙏🏾

3:50 If a black hole was near us and we somehow survived,..it would look 100% same like this ....it's very interesting
Ye, i thought the same thing when i saw it and the thumbnail 2
No not exactly
Black hoes
Every time something like this is happening near me it’s completely cloudy
2:15 The crescent sun! 🌙
Thank you for putting this up. I wasnt able to see this because of cloud cover. I appreciate this👍
3:01 India and Mexico according to Hollywood
I saw this in St. Louis and it's probably the most euphoric thing I've ever experienced. I was freaking out in a good way.
Oh my God this is amazing. I would love to make a video like this!!! There's a solar eclipse in 2 days from now...
How'd it go?

Went to Hopkinsville, KY in 2017 to see. Totality and one of the best spots in the world. Met a ton of great people from all over the world. I can definitely second your experience! The birds and bugs were fooled for sure.
POV: your looking at the comments to not get blind
I was at work when this happened. I live in Florida, so we didn't get the full view but it was noticeable and it did get slightly dark. It was like when you look out through lightly tinted windows.
My mom however, at the time was living just outside of Portland. She was saying people came from all over the region to watch and it became dark enough that the street lights automatically came on.
Crazy awesome.
I was in jail sadly. But your joy makes me super happy
Why were you in jail😳
I was at 6220 US-231, Castalian Springs, TN 37031 and I got to experience the whole 2.5 minutes of totality. Brought me to tears a bit. Then headed back to Chicago afterwards. I left for Tennessee at 3am and got back the next day at 2am
I know u guys waiting for tomorrow Eclipse - 08/04/2024
No. It's 4/8/2024.
I’ll always remember getting to experience that solar eclipse. The best way I can describe the lighting was like wearing sunglasses but not wearing sunglasses lol
3:37 look like diamond ring 💍 ...
I live in suburban Seattle, so we didn't get a full show but the sky had such a weird tinge to it. Very good stuff. As usual amazing video. You pick the best stuff, the coolest places!!
I remember seeing this in Orangeburg SC. Soo cool
I was in Nebraska for this too. I was in a giant field of sunflowers. I spread my dog Triggers ashes in the shadow of the moon. It was a highly emotional experience. I dropped down to my knees and cried. It was amazing. If I had the resources I would be chasing eclipses around the planet every year.
you have glasses on? so you can able to see the solar eclipse
Travel to the totality. TRUST ME. You will not regret it

Imagine the people flying in an airplane it must be terrifying.
who's here during the 2022 one
me
imagine the sun heard him say “what a freaky light” then the sun just disappeared and the galaxy explodes
3:25 he entered Mexico
I was in Oregon for this. Coolest thing I have ever experienced. It was so weird how you could tell the light was dying outside. It was early in the AM but it felt like it was a late afternoon. It sort of even got cold out.
I was actually on the moon when it veered off course and threw itself in front of the sun. Could not see Earth at all. What a time that was
Keep digging buddy! Much Respect from Northern Az, I’ve watched all your videos during this down time, a few times! 🗿
Fun fact
During the solar eclipse ants starts behaving weird and horse start moving thier ears up and down,
This was an amazing experience to witness, I wish I would have gotten to see it! This video more than made up for that. I felt the excitement in the whole thing, and I couldn't get enough of it!
3:55, why is there just a tiny black dot in middle of sun?
Its the moon
@@reddeadghost4343 why doesnt it cover the entire surface of the sun?
@@snowman7672 if it was closer to the earth , we would view it as bigger and it could cover the sun fully , but from the distance that it is it cant
@@reddeadghost4343 hmmm, thats odd, theres plenty of video footage of it fully covering the sun....guess im missing sumthing here
@@snowman7672 its becase the light is strong, put a camera at the sun and it will have like light around it. what we saw was not what he saw
