      Thanks for your comment. We go over all that on the SUPboarder Pro video of this turn. But the basic principle is feet in same stance but paddle on your backside to turn Right in normal stance.

      The board he in the video is an iSUP. Notice the bar across the middle running to the nose? That is to keep it stiff.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @brekbrek7869
      @brekbrek7869 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What a pointless comment, its not a surfboard, its a standup paddle board. I use mine on rivers, lakes and close shore ocean, not the slightest interest in surfing on it. I have a surfboard for that.

    • @anneliseb7041
      @anneliseb7041 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brekbrek7869 stand up paddle surfing is actually awesome. And unlike with a surf board you dont need to wait for big waves to have some fun. You can catch any waves with a sup from big to tiny waves

    OK... Crazy question, but I've never seen "my turns" anwhere, so I'm asking....
    For my part, I stay in the middle of my board, put a huge outside "backward" paddling on the side I am, like a big "C" shape (it stops the forward glide and start the rotation, and then, I change side and give the same "big one C mirrored" in order to finish my turn and start gliding in the opposite side) A kinda what we did when I was rowing and we have to go back.
    Am I crazy ?

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Sarah, There's no wrong or right when it comes to paddleboarding. If your turn works for you, great. But the problem with doing any sort of backward paddling during a turn is, if you go into the turn at speed you're not using that forward momentum you've made to help you do the turn. The type of turn your talking about does get used in many race events too. But when you get the hang of the Stepback turn it will be faster for sure. Also remember when you join SUPboarderPro you can send us your videos to be analyzed by our experts to help you get the most out of your paddling. www.supboardermag.com/2018/01/05/get-involved-new-supboarder-pro-video-breakdowns/
