Thanks for coming along on this chilly morning ride with me, TWOWHEELD friends! So do you ride motorcycle as a daily commuter, or do you only go out for the specifics rides? Come along with me for Shadowday, then at the end, leave your comment down below! 👍🏻
When I was 24, I didn’t have a car and got a Suzuki Boulevard S40 as my only transport. I rode her for 3 years and 24k miles before she was stolen. That was in Denver, so rain, snow, hail, everything. Now, in my 30s, I ride a Ninja 400 as half commuter, half fun. Mainly to take some miles and wear off my truck. No more miserable winter rides though.
Bummer to hear that your bike was stolen! Sounds like it all has worked out well for you! I know around here, we wouldn’t be able to only have two wheels as transportation. We would be staying home for a few months on end. 😆 Thanks for watching and sharing your story!
I'm finally back to work so i'll be using the shadow to commute to and from. absolutely love the work commute especially after work. After all the BS that can come with a 9-5, after a ride it all goes away the minute i start the bike up!!
I really like all of your Honda shadow content. I'm looking into one myself as a starter/commuter bike and you've definitely been very helpful! I couldn't help but subscribe
Thank you for subscribing and welcome to the TWOWHEELD family! I am happy to hear you have found the content very helpful! I will have to get out on the Shadow again soon to get some new content with it! It is such a fun bike to ride around on! Again, welcome, and I am sure we will see you around in the comments! ✌🏼
I ride my shadow every day back and forth to work! Never miss a day 😄 I used to take 100 mile each way with the wife on the back lol 🤙 Still waiting on those stickers lol
I bet that Vegas weather helps make it a lot easier for that! 😉 Happy to see you again. Missed you the last few weeks! As far as those stickers go… apparently someone wanted them more than you! I didn’t receive them back, so I will have to get a new envelope off to you. Shoot me a new email with your address so I can make sure it is correct, and I will be happy to send again! ✌🏼
With winter around the corner there are some ideas and suggestions you could offer. Winterizing your motorcycle. Not a supper big deal here but other parts of the country it is. Battery maintenance, tires, coolant, oil change and other suggestions. Just a thought for a video. Take care and ride safe.
Winter definitely isn’t too far away! I kind of do but kind of don’t winterize my bikes. I try to keep them ready to ride at all times, even during winter. 🥶 I appreciate your ideas and will see if I can put something together for the mentioned winterizing steps into a video. Thanks! Ride safe! ✌🏼
In California so for the most part am a daily rider. Gas is too high thanks to the gas tax. But I just like riding. Use the SV650 for work just got the Shadow for two up weekends. Am excited about it! Am planning to use it for commuting till get use to it. Been a long time since I drove a cruiser type bike and will be nice to have the girlfriend for a ride. She won't get on the sportbike but she'll ride on the Shadow. Waiting for the bike shop to get it finished and ready to ride. Can't wait!
Sounds like it will be a great time once you get it from the shop! I always loved when my wife would ride on the back! She rides her own now, which is pretty cool, too! We don’t have as high of gas tax here, but I know what you mean. It’s definitely not cheap! Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
I'm retired so once in a while I'll just take a ride to no where for the fun of it but most of the time I just ride for a purpose. I have a windshield and lowers full face helmet plus engine guard chaps I can put on to stay warm. At my age I don't ride when it gets a lot colder. Put my bike in my heated garage for winter with a battery tender on it.
Sounds like the good life right there! 😊 Won’t be long, and many motorcycles will be going into hibernation around here! Thanks for watching and leaving your comment! Good to hear from you again!
I was riding to work 3 times a week when it was a little warmer. I left the house the other day not realizing it was 45° burr. My commute is Hermosa to Rapid City.
Forty five does get a bit chilly, but we are pretty tough here in South Dakota! Good to see another fellow South Dakotan here in the comments! Welcome to the channel! You have such a beautiful area to ride out that way! I’m hoping next year I can get out there on two wheels!
I moved here from Florida 3 years ago so my blood hasn't thickened up yet 🤣. I love riding in the hills. Especially Iron Mountain road and needles highway.
The recent upgrades definitely made a difference! Stage 2 DynoJet carb kit upgrade, removed the snorkel behind the air box and inserted a K&N air filter into the stock box. The back side of the box is open without the snorkel, she it gets lots of air! Then there is a set of Cobra Streetrod Slashdown Full exhaust on it. Those are installed as they come from Cobra. Other than that, I run 91 Octane Premium Fuel. Those upgrades definitely brought the bike to life!
Your voice actually sounds like Steve Carrell in this one. I would love to commute on my Shadow Sabre 1100 as I have a 30km route each way... and sometimes I will during late spring and summer... but as I live in the Canadian Maritimes.. the weather can be iffy and winter/springs can be just simply hostile to bike riding.
I bet it seems like that late Spring/Summertime goes by really quick! South Dakota has some interesting weather at times as well. I was actually able to ride a couple days ago. It was in the high 30’s to mid 40’s Fahrenheit on my ride, but I enjoyed every moment of it! Can’t wait for spring again! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I ride 7 days a week year around. I commute to work as well as for pleasure on the weekends. I also have a multi purpose motorcycle bag that I bought from Cycle Gear that easily straps to my sissy bar and can hold as much as about 3 days worth of groceries.
Nice! I wish our weather would allow for riding daily! Sounds like you have a pretty good setup with the bag you use! Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
Ride two to three times for work. 90 mile round trip commute. First season riding…so getting used to interstate speeds, winds, and riding as if you’re invisible has been fun for training and experience
That is a great way to ride. Ride as you are invisible, not to be confused with invincible. 😆 Definitely gives a person some good time to practice in traffic! Thanks for commenting!
I commute to work 5 days a week on my Phantom. I bought a multipurpose bag from cycle gear that can hold 4 days worth of groceries that I keep in my refrigerator at work. I also ride for fun on the weekends and take cross country trips with about 100 pounds of camping gear strapped to the sissy bar. You guys don’t know what you’re missing!
Right on! Sounds like you have a great setup! I wish we were able to ride daily! We ride as often as possible, but there are more days we can’t ride versus days we can unfortunately. 😢
I use a purple panda mic connected through the GoPro audio adapter, plugged into a GoPro Hero 7 Black. I keep the mic tucked back in the cheek pad and it’s pretty decent for not having wind noise. When I run a windshield, I do get some pops on occasion, but with no windshield it is perfect. Sounds odd, I know. 😆 Believe me, I have spent a lot of time trying to get rid of the pops when running a windshield. Somewhere in the playlist, I do talk about the setup if you want to go hunting for it. 😊
I purchased my VT1100C Shadow as a toy only. It's always a treat for me to ride in any direction I want. But ... as the Insurance / Government Collaboration Cos rape me for my Auto insurance. I may just unload the Car and install a three wheel kit on the Honda MC. 'Dey got by the cohunas.
That is something I have yet to change out. When my time comes, I will probably do a little search on some of the forums or the Honda Shadow Facebook page. There is also a chance someone will come along here and see your comment and drop a response below for you. Sorry I can’t be much of a help today.

Yeah, I have pretty good leather with a liner that does well, but I have wore my Carhart extreme gear before. The same I would go ice fishing or do snow blowing in. It’s nice and warm and no wind gets in. 😆 If it’s that cold, I have other transportation. In your case, you don’t have many options I’m sure! Either get a ride or take the bus. Or be stubborn and just grit the teeth and ride! 😂
I could, but I don’t like putting the pressure on my laptop even though it is in the bag. The seat is pretty narrow, and idk how much I would trust transporting it. If something happens to the laptop, I am out of commission editing videos for a while. 😆 So I just strap it on my back to be safe with it.
