Dan I can identify with your story. I had this paralyzing fear of loosing my family if came out to them. The fear kept me from being my authentic self and I was in misery. When I found the courage and decided come out to my family come what may. I did and it has helped me create stronger relationships with my mother siblings, children, and grandchildren. I don’t regret it for one second. For anyone out there who may need to see or hear this. It gets better.

These revelations about who figured out your sexuality long before you confessed to anything...is so fascinating. Not that you were a "flamboyant" closet case. family,especially...are discerning enough to know their "family". For you to think... you were hiding your side glance cruising is sort of comical. A little observation goes a long way!! Dan..glad that your experience was comfortable and introspective. Because...so many are total horror stories...count your blessings..my lad. Thanks for the overview!! This channel has been long overdue.

Dan, what a lovely story of how the truth set you free. It is not easy to come out and face the fears that so many of us have experienced, but it is always, without exception, the only way to live. So happy for you, Dan!

What so many DON'T understand is that IF someone decides to CUT YOU out of their lives because suddenly they now know you're gay, they DON'T really, truly "love" you. So they are NOT a "loved one". Who wouldn't want/need to 'lose' someone who cuts you from their life because now they know you are gay? This is why I do NOT believe in the fantasy, "unconditional love". I love you UNLESS you tell me you are gay. Condition #1. Seek out those who will love you knowing FULL WELL exactly who you are & let the others go. You don't need that STRESS!
