    I was about 4 months into carnivore when I had my bi-annual doctor's appointment and they ran blood tests. My doctor nearly had a heart attack when my LDL went from 40 to 155. He didn't say a thing about my HDL climbing into the mid 50's (highest it has been) and my Triglycerides dropping to about 100 (lowest it has been). Nor did he say anything about my BMI dropping to 23.5 from 25. (lowest it has been). He immediately prescribed me statins which I have no plans to take. I haven't mentioned my diet to him because I know how he will react. My next appointment is in a few weeks. I am hoping the HDL continues to rise and Triglycerides continue to drop. I don't' care about my LDL. Thanks for all you do!

    This was super helpful, Dr. Baker. Thank you. My labs are generally great, but I do have some elevated ferritin and uric acid but without any symptoms that would cause me concern. I've mostly concluded that all is well and my body knows what it's doing, but it's comforting to hear your message in this video.

    I've sensed for quite a while now that the reference numbers are too simplistic and are more geared to make the prescription med protocol simple for doctors than to assess the actual health of particular individuals.
    I think this is why when people like me stop going to the doctor, the further away we get from the last doctor appointment the healthier we get in general and without regard to numbers on a piece of paper.

    Good morning Dr Shawn Baker, I'm a Brazilian carnivore and I've been following your videos for two years, I'm going to have an osteotomy on my ankle, a consequence of congenital clubfoot, and I would like to know based on a carnivore diet what I should include in my diet for optimal bone consolidation.
    Would removing coffee be good at least during this recovery period ?
    supplementing vitamin d3 would be good ?
    Here in Brazil we don't have much access to lamb meat, beef is the most accessible, what would be the ideal beef cut and terms of nutrients for excellent post-surgical recovery and bone consolidation?

    PLEASE HELP me figure this out. I'm at my wits end. Doc isn't helping at all and at age 63, I'm scared. I've started KETO and working my way into carnivore after coming from a diet of standard American (laced with trying almost every diet known to man) in between. I have about 100 pounds to lose, and had my most recent labs drawn, and it's not good. My A1C is 7 (it was 6.7) How is it going UP? My Magnesium is low, along with my chloride, total iron binding capacity, folate, Vit B12 is only 387, celiac disease test- negative. I have macular degeneration in the works, years ago I had a pulmonary embolism (resolved) but I'm still stuck on oxygen therapy (I think because of my weight) all of this is keeping me down, I can't walk far, my legs feel like lead, I'm exhausted, I sleep in a recliner, I'm sorry to vent here but like I said....wits end. I've taken supplements (what I consider good ones) and it's as if I've taken nothing! If you see this, can you tell me whether or not carnivore diet is going to help heal my gut to allow me to absorb what I need from my foods?? Please keep the videos coming and thank you so much for all that you do. I't's so greatly appreciated....

    can you please do a video that goes deeper into the Microbiome? im studying this subject and really conflicted on the fiber needs as some Biome markers require fiber. Im using the BiomeFx from Microbiome Labs (prefer this test as its a complete Genome Sequencing test and not just a PCR type like the GI Map). Maybe the biome markers that say we need more fiber is not that important when on strict keto?? so much to learn

      Your trigs to hdl ratio is the important bio-marker for metabolic health .Yours is about 1:1 ratio ,which is considered optimal. 1:1 also infers that your ldl is Pattern A type ,or the large /bouyant cholesterol particle that is not atherogenic .Whether or not you should use statins ,therefore ,is highly debatable (to put it mildly).I got a CAC Scan when my ldl increased on carnivore....the scan showed a zero score ,or ,no calcified plaque.... so I refused my Doctors statin recommendation.

    Doctors and nurse practitioners who don't understand that a ketogenic diet, such as carnivore, has to be treated differently from the standard American diet are showing their ignorance and in some cases, lack of interest in the truth. I'm shocked at the amount of doctors who quit learning and have no interest in discovering what has changed. Discoveries in biology and health have never stopped being explored. Why would those medial professionals think they have no need to keep learning about new discoveries in their field of expertise? I'm in technology which is constantly changing. If I want to stay in business I have to constantly learn and stay on top of what is new or changed. It's part of my job. Why do these doctors get a pass? Is it because big pharma is in charge?

  • @dough.9241
    @dough.9241 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I don’t go to MDs or do lab work anymore. A waste of time. The doctors would only look at the boldface or similarly annotated results where measurements were outside of the (worthless) reference ranges. Then I would get the cholesterol and low fat diet talk and be pushed toward a statin once again. Total waste of time and money. I don’t have the time or patience to try to educate the doctors on the proper human diet being the key to achieving and maintaining optimal health.
    I will continue to thrive on carnivore until I eventually die of something… heart disease… stroke… cancer… doesn’t matter, really. I started keto and, later, carnivore in my early 60s. It’s completely plausible that I would have pre-existing calcified plaques caused by a carb-centric diet consumed for the vast majority of my life. So be it. It’s better to be late to discover carnivore than to never reach beefy enlightenment.
