Julian was never a prodigy, true he was a hardworker with fundamentals but he never really showed any signs of a prodigy, for example when he was pitted against Lamelo, the difference of a prodigy and an average joe were shown
Was he really a child prodigy or he just worked harder than most kids his age and a few years above him? He doesn't have the shooting stroke, the smoothness in dribbling, he is quick but predictable but it works in middle school but in highschool against real competition like lamelo it didn't work
I don't want waste my time with another dumb video about Newman. First he is not even 5-6. Second. He is a terrible ball handler. His dribbling is what we call spam dribbling. Not creating much separation or paths to the basket. Third. He limited skills. Fourth. His shot is bad (though improved as of late). Fifth. He has zero athleticism. He is quick but has no explosion or lift. And last he has no basketball IQ and a bad attitude. Height was the least of his problems. And the NBA or any D1 college hardly know his name. He is not even good enough for many high school varsity teams.
He did a lot of dribbling practice, but very little basketball training. He was an average player with above average dribbling moves. But even those were more suited for And 1 mix tapes than high level basketball.
@@ShuckyDucky09 - If you play street ball, sure. I was a guard, playing organized basketball, from 1963 all the way to 2004. I have MADE thousands of more shots than you have ever taken. I still hoop, at aged 68.
If mugsy had bigger hands he could dunk. He was a freak athlete 5ft3 and could touch the rim... also muggsy had like 30 blocks in his career. Imagine getting blocked by a dude a foot shorter than you...
Be never had good fundamentals and only made any team due to his father. He has never been better than the kid on the b team that really loves the game and thinks he is good.
No joke, as I was watching this video, I somehow ended up on Randy Newman’s Wikipedia page (from the wiki for the movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, which he voiced a character in). His biggest song was “Short People”, a 1970’s hit.
He was never the player he was marketed to be. His career has been a smokescreen. Its was never about basketball but about the grift/building the brand. Papa Newman took advantage of the highlight tape age and fools online at it up. That’s it. Ppl gave him way too much credit.
Julian is currently playing at Bethesda University. They have no ties to the NCAA but compete in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). Neither Julian nor his team are doing well.
2:01 so where's these floaters and jump shots?Even if he doesn't showcase elite level floor generalship all he ever did outside of dribbling and deep threes which more often resulted in airballs
Why would it scare me? When he was 11, and 5 foot 5, he was GREAT. Then he was 17, and 5 feet 6. All the other players were JUST as fast, but six inches taller. Dude has bad genetics.
Hooper's and fans of Hooper's, could NEVER respect what Julian Newman was. He was a ball handler who couldnt score against taller guards (mind you Isaiah Thomas, Damian Lillard, Ja Morant, was doing it at a high level when Julian was relevant in HS)..The diffrence is..Julian was heighten as a dribbler, but TRASH as a scorer. He was only relevant because he could dribble (and often times WAY too much)..and never saw a D1 college team offer and rightfully so..overall, HE SUCKED...Not hate...Factz💯.
Bruh you talk about height and then name hall of fame players😂. The man has no defensive skills no real offensive skills without having the ball, truthfully he couldn't even make the wnba😂.
I would think he would be better with all that training from youth. The man is garbage. What people don't realize every high-school player doesn't want to go to the NBA.
Well thats the thing, he had burnouts from all that training. It's never good to over train period, but especially kids, Phycological and physically can stunt them. Julian not having the talent anyway didn't help.
terrible clickbait lmao he lost his chance when he stop progress when he turn 13 yrs old he was good player when he was 10 years old because no kid train basketball like him, 15D1 offer is complete lie lol he didnt even receive D2 offer lol
Julian Dribbling while dodging Basketballs his father is throwing at his face was the stupidest drill I've ever seen 😄

No matter how talented an athlete may bebebebbbebebebe
He shud have built his brand around streetball like the professor, his dad just doesnt accept his gene
His pops had him doing all that training and they never hit the weights?

Why would a five foot six guy bulk up? That would make him slower, and my man isn't getting any boards.
@ you need me to explain to you why you need muscles to play basketball? Not gonna do that

Better off getting an education
Jeremy Lin was good in college and jimmy butler ended up at Marquette and was drafted don’t think those are good examples
his dad did him wrong... should have focus on food and height. spend too much shit on fancy drills, sad af
he lacked fundamentals but did have a shooting touch, however it seems like he simply can't shoot anymore. now he's basically useless on the court.
If mugsy had bigger hands he could dunk. He was a freak athlete 5ft3 and could touch the rim... also muggsy had like 30 blocks in his career. Imagine getting blocked by a dude a foot shorter than you...
Mugsy blocked Patrick Ewing. Imagine getting blocked by someone 1'9" shorter...
I believe muggsy dunked once during practice. He was a freak athlete for someone so small
He did dunk just never in game he’s dunked many times in practice

Unfortunately, Julian inherited his father’s genetics
Ego was bigger than talent
Jeremy Lin?! Jimmy B?! Those were dumb comparisons lol They just got overlooked, I saw Jimmy in college, and he was good.
Seems he plays better when he is smaller, and it got worse
I think his dad over over worked Julian when he was a child which probably stunted his growth.
Idt so. Thats been proven false that early working out stunts growth. He is also taller than his dad

It's just genetics with him,he was never going to be tall, not stunted growth!
