Still loving my R6! Best "investment" I've ever made. I've gotten cash offers for more than I paid out the door from dealership brand new! If you love the sound of triples, buy one that is already established in the marketplace by saving time and money and it's just as pure as an R6... ready? Daytona 765! Go!
99%+ can’t even handle the R3 yet they’ll complain about the R9. Stop complaining and go buy any number of other liter bikes you can’t handle. I personally think the R9 is the future.
IRC makes an autoblip for non-TBW bikes. Can you test it out? I’ve heard great things about it. I feel the same way about true super sports but do want auto-blip.
I'm interested in R9. My bias stems from love of triple engine of my STR RS. In terms of pedigree STR is based off a supersport while R9 is based of a naked bike platform. Regardless of pedigree, CP3 is capable of being good in track and Yamaha knows how to tweak geometry and gearing. If they sort those 2 components out along with adding capable braking and suspension, I think it will be a modern actual Daytona in the track.
I was extremely excited for the r9. I had a 2017 FZ-09 and always loved the way the R6 from '17+ looked, so the thought of R6 beauty with an fz/mt09 engine really excited me. Fasted forward and this bike just...doesn't look good man. It's got a super long wheelbase and that whacky gap in the frame is just horrible. Bought a tenere 700 instead 😂
Only the people on the internet are complaining about the R9. Same thing happened with 2015 R1 when it was launched. People absolutely hated the looks but now they say it's one of the best looking bikes. People trash talked about GSX8-R but after being launched it was probably the best middleweight parallel twin bike inspite of 8s already existing. People will absolutely hate change but will change their opinions once they start seeing good sales figure and good reviews about them.
You nailed it pretty much. But what my comment was is that its for the GAMING GEN and OLD MEN HAVING A MID LIFE CHRISIS. Exactly what you said. Your buying into marketing hype. Its not for the purist. Im not saying i want a ZX6R, but who rides for practicality? Thats what your SUV is for. Some of us riding is worth dieing for. Test ride a 14yr old since updated GSXR750 before you buy that R9.
Your comments and others are the inspiration behind this video but some people are attacking me for it.. hey I’m just a story teller.. challenge the argument not the person.
@PetroHead That's why I don't do youtube videos. You gotta handle immature trolls. Stick to your guns. If they really rode they'd have respect for anyone on 2 wheels. How many people are actually buying new motorcycles now? A VERY low number. It's just bullshit.
I'm just not so much a fan of triples, I mean, I don't hate them as much as twins, they definitely sound way better than twins, but I'd still just always pick an inline 4
As an ‘09 R1 and ‘22 KTM RC390 owner, I hate the R9. Any used 600cc sport bike made in the past 20 years is a better bike. Plus, it replaced the R6 because of government regulations, and not because it’s better. If it brings more younger riders, then it’s ok I guess.
Depends what you want, lighter weight more horsepower get the Kawi. If you want more torque get the Yammie. If you want to not care about either of them get a real bike ( 1000cc ).
I just realized you’re in San Diego. Back when I first started riding, I would do the same loop from mission valley to Kerny Mesa or clairemont area using the backroads. Then back to my place in mission valley. I was having weird Deja vu the entire time watching this lol
I can sum it up in a sentence. Why would I pay for a triple cylinder bike for the same cost of a faster, better looking four cylinder bike. You may as well be screaming "I'm a shit rider" as you pin it down the highway because that's how it looks when you get passed by smaller 4 cylinder bikes.
Riding with one hand is not recommended by any instructor. Can't vloggers learn to talk w/out their hands while riding? 40 years ago I had a car bumper appear all of a sudden from under the car in front of me that ran it over. I had nowhere to go and thankfully I had both hands on the bars or I would have been toast.
I turn 23 tomorrow, I got my motorcycle endorsement in Oct 2023. I haven’t bought a bike, cause I’ve always planned on moving to another country. I’m moving to Japan later this year, and I’m trying to save up to get a Panigale V2. I just think that bike is beautiful, has more than enough power, and has all of the nice electronics like autoblip up/down. I don’t hate bikes like the r9, but there will always be a part of me that wants a bike like the R6 or Panigale V4R purely because I want to hit those crazy high revs. It’s the same reason why my dream project car is a Kswapped GT86 that revs up to 10k rpm, which is very high revs for a car. There’s just nothing like revving your engine out to super high rpms to get up to high speeds.
The mind boggling difference between an R6 and V4 is clearly something you don’t understand. Stick to a smaller displacement bike. You’ll get yourself hurt
You fanboying your own bike... non of the people writing in your comments has ridden either the r9 nor your bike... hafe you ridden the r9 or what is it that qualifies you to speak over it?
The HP of the R9 is no where near the HP of a literbike. Torque is close because of displacement, but the R9 is in 600 supersport range for HP. IF I'm going to spend $12K I would rather have a Gixxer 750 or the ZX6R. That R9 is a gimmick.
Yamaha made a business decision. Developing a new engine is costly..whereas a chassis & bodywork is cheap. R9 is another parts bin bike as all mfgs are doing, make a few tweaks and drop the lump in. Innovation in a stale market isn't wise. Motorcycles have plateaued long ago, there's basic chassis architecture that works for any given genre, and they've reached stress limits in high hp engines to keep them alive/reliable for the street. More restrictive emissions are a huge hindrance. So get used to it. The US market may change with possible relaxing of emissions which could lead to a real R9 with at least 150hp...
Have you ever owned an R6 or a 959? The most uncomfortable and back breaking sport bikes ever.. today’s sport bikes are for a ‘soft’ generation who aren’t sport bike riders but want to look cool and still be comfortable.. rarely will they track.. cruise control, loads of tech, app connectivity, comfortable geometry and the list goes on is what they prefer and manufacturers have listened.
@PetroHead thatz why u different bikes to suite wateva u wanna do so complaning a sports bikes an practical or comfy is crazy wen u have alot more option now then wen i started riding bac in the day
The R9 is a low testosterone 'supersport' that is designed for the low T generation. EU climate kooks are ruining sport bikes. The R9 is nearly superbike size but tuned way DOWN to meet Euro 5.
pretty sure "purist" hate the r9 is because its not a inline 4 r6, which imo couldve been saved from termination IF PEOPLE WERE BUYING THEM but no one did. people complain omg the r9 suck, its not an r6, why didn't yamaha continue making r6 blah blah blah. Financially from a business standpoint. no manufacturer would continue to put R&D money into something that is not making money, and by no means selling enough to justify the continued support with tightening emission restrictions. If it was selling and producing money then you bet your ass yamaha wouldve gotten the R6 emission compliant with the euro5 restrictions but there is just no market when consumers are not buying. R9 is a cheaper more cost effective and not only that is already within regulation with the CP3 engine that they just need to make it sportier and trackable. there is no reason to try and make videos of why people hate that the triple is on its way in and inline 4 are on its way out. people will complain no matter what and its all keyboard warrior, no ones putting money where their mouth is, just all bark and no bite.
@PetroHead not even a little bit lol, I just take these videos with a grain of salt and being realistic about it. Just like when the r7 came out and now the r9. Yamaha has said they will have a new gearing set up for the R9. Not saying it will be set up for track optimization but it won't be the same as the mt09
Still loving my R6! Best "investment" I've ever made. I've gotten cash offers for more than I paid out the door from dealership brand new!
PS - they should've kept the dual headlight design from the R1/R6 instead of that weird single headlight for the R9, looks weird IMO, much prefer the mean nasty attitude look of the R6/R1 front ends..
Ya the cyclops eyeball in the middle is a let down.
@@PetroHeadhot take: the v4s "eyebrow" drl's look like an after thought.
So from your standing in the video im definitely on the purest side. It seems like its going to compete in the new 900cc sport bike category, and for that i might as well get a 1k bike. Also remember in europe the r1 is pretty much gone now so if they said hey you can have a bike with half the power and more relaxed if you where really into super sports it would be a let down. Ill just hope my rsv4 doesnt have problems down the line like yours did.
Thanks for the videos
900 is pretty much the new middle weight.. crazy as it sounds lol.
@@PetroHeadits not. It's dogshit. I won't beat around the bush either. F euro5. This is the US. if yam can't get their shit together they deserved to be called out. Jesus they helped develop the motor fir the LFA for crying out loud. R9=900cc 400.
man i'm excited. love the sound of a triple engine.
If you love the sound of triples, buy one that is already established in the marketplace by saving time and money and it's just as pure as an R6... ready? Daytona 765! Go!
The R9 will be raced in WSBK Supersport class. This is the same reason why Ducati completely changed the Panigale V2 for 2025 too.
It’s not plug and play.. there is one company that offers blipper for the ZX6R but they never emailed me back.. I’ll try again.
Bingo!
Daytona > STRS
MT-09 > R9
No comparison.
The R9 is going to sell like crazy
True on not plug’s play. But what true options exist with non-TBW.
street triple rs is king of the category.
I miss mine. Amazing bike,
@kupalisky3553 Yes, the category of bikes missing 1 cylinder 😉
@@GhostRider020 go ride a Honda RC51 and come back and tell me number of cylinders matters.
I know i hate it, from day 1.
@ 100% correct.
The R9 will be a hit. They‘re already selling out everywhere.
The problem is that they discontinued the r1 and announced the r9. It seems like the wanted it to replace the r1 but the r1 is a much superior bike
it better be for twice the price
Since I didn't put a deposit down. And may have to wait anyway, than ill probably just keep saving and get an R1 lol
This IS the right choice.
Depends what you want, lighter weight more horsepower get the Kawi. If you want more torque get the Yammie. If you want to not care about either of them get a real bike ( 1000cc ).
Make sure you flash it buddy.
Soo nobody has the bike this is the most wait and see thing ever. Personally I just think it’s ugly forget stats but I’ll have to see it in person
I agree. I hate the R9. I want the Pure R6 back
I just realized you’re in San Diego. Back when I first started riding, I would do the same loop from mission valley to Kerny Mesa or clairemont area using the backroads. Then back to my place in mission valley. I was having weird Deja vu the entire time watching this lol
lol.. I usually pick a route so I have enough time to make a video from start to finish.. this route made sense.
2:00 First thing any track rider dose is remove the electrics lol
The R9 will be like the R7…a Mt09 with clip one and fairing
Yes it's probably uncompromisingly the best street sports bike currently... which is why I hate it.
They hate them??? Thats why they are sold out for the year completely in the entire state of az...
@ i know that the V4 is much faster. I’m talking about the engine note. I don’t like the sound of two cylinder motorcycles.
You fanboying your own bike... non of the people writing in your comments has ridden either the r9 nor your bike... hafe you ridden the r9 or what is it that qualifies you to speak over it?
Fanboying? You barely watched the video.. I’m unbiased and just told a story.
@@PetroHead mans cant even spell correctly. not worth responding to these bozos
Ya Trump just exited the Paris Accord.. so we might see changes but the rest of Europe is still Europe so maybe.. maybe not.
It's downgrade from R6, that's for sure, I don't even need to mention R1.
Kawasaki for life!
I love the zx6r
It looks like an R1, had bike sex😂,whit an R7 and this is what came out. A slower bike for more money! PASS🖕. JUST GOING TO GET THE NEW R1.
Only well adjusted man in the comments section.
@pjbiggleswerth8903 HUH??
@@garydickson9669 oh nevermind.
@pjbiggleswerth8903 Right!
Ever utuber always talk about a motorcycle not bein practical sport bikes were not ment to be practical
@PetroHead thatz why u different bikes to suite wateva u wanna do so complaning a sports bikes an practical or comfy is crazy wen u have alot more option now then wen i started riding bac in the day
"Everyone" hates it ? smh.
Where is that everyone?.. xd
Did I hurt your feelings by telling a story about two different viewpoints.. Purist vs R9 fans?
@PetroHead not even a little bit lol, I just take these videos with a grain of salt and being realistic about it. Just like when the r7 came out and now the r9. If it's not a 4 r6 then it is all you get from people that you call purists. I ride a gen 5 zx10r. I'm not pressed about it. No need to get defensive my friend. All I ever see from these videos are witch hunting about reasons why people hate it and it always end up being the same. They want a 4 but gotten a 3, they hate but none of them are buying to save the bikes they keep talking about. Prove to me that isn't true. You can give me a million reasons and it all boils down to the same bull that's been talked about.
Bro.. How am I defensive? Sorry my logical mind is having a hard time figuring out why someone would be upset at me for telling a story about two kinds of opinions. Challenge the argument, not the person.
@ i'm really not, I find it entertaining that you think anyone with a rebuttal is suddenly pressed with your story , its not that serious so no need to try and pull drama out of something there isn't any. just take your free viewer count and sip some tea.
Wow I swear this is great for anyone who wants a superb example of what gaslighting is.

I don't hate it, its just ugly asf.
I know u had the rsv4. Ive had 600s. I do not know how u can pick this 600 over the 1100. To each their own i never loved the ninja tho. Had a zx9r loooong time ago. Analog power. Thing was terrifying. The rsv4 tho. Its magic. Got my gabro mtorque map and my lv corsa. I honestly think i might keep it forever. And the gamer gen thing is right. They cant do anything full speed so they have to be given these kids toys so they dont kill themselves.
I don't ride with an ego or a lust for power. Every bike is an experience. If it's about power, I'll run circles around any 1100 with this 600 on the track. Bro.. No bike is a toy... dial it down a bit because you have people with zero experience reading these threads and you don't want to ego trip them.
I don’t like the r9 because it’s ugly

They gave you a bike that can pass the regulations. End of story. It's pretty sad that people who make motorcycle videos like to pretend the manufacturers are giving us these bikes for some other reasons. I guess it is some kind of coping mechanism to protect fragile minds? Seriously, why are you so either deluded or ignorant? I know a lot of motorcycle people are completely apolitical but at some point pull your freakin head out.
