A lot of these styles you showed look amazing but my favorite will always be a Redwing 6" Moc Toe Supersole 1.0 style as a workboot. My Granddad always wore these and bought me a pair about the age of 14...so it's for sentimental reasons. I'm lucky to still have that pair.

I just got into higher quality dress boots. My gateway boot was the Thursday captains. I wanted a black pair and a brown pair so I went with the Classic black captain as my first boot and I went with the Arizona Adobe boot as my second boot. I also recently purchased the Elliott Balmoral boot from Beckett Simonon because they were on sale for $169 when the retail price is well over $400. The only downside is that they have a 3 month lead time. I hope they will fit me perfectly because I need it for my wife and I’s 10yr anniversary dinner and photographs.
I have a nice pair of black, snub toe harness boots that I honestly don't wear as often as I should. I definitely need to work on my boot collection
Boots is a must have in any men’s wardrobe
Great video on basic boot info for someone just starting out with boots. I would have added one caveat. Although, full boots might not work with a suit. An ankle boot goes great with a suit.
An Oxford or Oxford-brogue looks great and pairs well with business-wear. A plain Oxford or Oxford-balmoral is even better. Just so long as it is made in high quality leather without a lot of fluff and flair. And, the soles are stitched in either leather or thin composite. The difference between this and a chukka would be the more elegant silhouette of a dress ankle boot.
My personal favorite look (that I do not have) is a traditional dress Jodhpur boot. This is more dressy and formal than the suede harness boots used in the example. Harness boots aren’t bad for casual wear. But, a real Jodhpur has more class.

Boots are just cool period! I have several pairs and they are functional and look great. A dress pair of boots will also set you a part and normally I am 5'10" without shoes and with boots I am at least 5'11"...win!

Any recommendations for winter boots? I commute via subway in Chicago and walk regularly through snow and salty slush at temps down to 0°F. I hesitate with leather in those conditions and like some insulation, so I typically end-up with something not at all fashionable. Hoping you have some more stylish (but functional) recommendations

Something important is that the Thursday Logger is not exactly a work boot is the aproach of a workboot by Thursday, but its not made to be a work boot, it kinda looks like a work boot but its a dress boot, still one of my favorite boots on the market
