The ZO6 has an aluminum frame and saves 136 pounds, the GS has a steel frame. The front fenders are carbon fiber on the ZO6 too. The Z has a magnesium engine cradle, a magnesium roof cradle, The Z weighs 3150 the GS is about 3400. There’s more than meets the eye. Nice car 👍🏻

@Jay Barrow I have a video on it, now im currently recording the rebuild process. So the LS engines have weak lifter buckets once they go past 75k miles, unfortunately for me combined with abuse, the lifter spun, & destroyed my cam
The LS3 is a wonderful engine that handles forced induction very well, some feel it is actually better for tuning vs the LS7. Also the Tremec TR-6060 is a bulletproof transmission. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful GS, I also daily my C6Z and on the highway average right around 30 mpg with the LS7. The LS cars are outstanding for gas mileage and bang for the buck! Love the look of your car, drive safe brother!
Good video. Very honest and to the point. I think you got a great deal although I missed how many miles it had on it. I bought a 13 GS 3LT last Sept. With 10K miles, not a mark on it for $45,995. We live in St Louis and had to fly to Dallas to get it so we could drive it home. Great way to get acquainted with a new play car, I love this car.

Good review. I had a C6 GS years and years ago. Great cars. I ended up selling it and going with a 5th generation Camaro. I'm still a Corvette guy but the Vette didn't speak to my soul. Even with cam, heads, tune and other mods, it didn't speak to me like the Camaro. The Camaro Gen 5 1LE (when done right with suspension and wheels) is an angry looking muscle car. There's something about the 1LE that makes it fucking addicting to drive. I can't put my finger on it but it's genuinely a driver's car. It's currently running high 10s as of this posting on soft tire. Keeping this damn thing till the day I die.
Nice Vette! Those wheels look great. The Grand Sport (and Z51) also has lower and closer gear ratios in the transmission compared to the Z06. The Z06 is setup for big fast race tracks. The Grand Sport is setup for smaller, tighter tracks and autocross. It's a more suitable sports car for enthusiast street driving IMO. I love my GS and wouldn't trade it for a Z06 on the tight, technical roads I drive.

One I hadnt seen said yet is the Z06 had carbon fiber body panels over the fiberglass the base and GS got instead. Z suspension is more tuned for a race track than daily driving it. These are what I have picked up on from other comparison videos between the Z and GS
two more of the major differences between Z06 and Grand Sport are that the Grand Sport has a steel chassis (heavier but easier to cage and repair damage from off track excursions) while the Z06 and ZR1 have an aluminium chassis and the Grand Sport is a Targa like the basemodel so it's a little less rigid than a Z06 or ZR1 with the fixed roof.
Makes the Base and GS the better drift chassis too, and cheaper to fix a bent alimunum frame is a gonner since pulling it straight will more than likely cause it to crack
I bought my 2009 C6 corvette new and don't regret it for a minute. The car is all I hoped it to be and more. I still drive it on a daily basis. This is American engineering at its best.
The add-on features really complement the GS stock body. You'll love the heads-up display if you get it. Roadrash can be a potential problem with a car this low, especially in black. You have a good eye for style... Congrats!!!😎
I've been borrowing a friend's 2011 Grand Sport for a week and am absolutely in love with the styling and performance. After driving it for a week in the Seattle area and dealing with the front dam scraping on EVERY large speed bump and angled driveways, going diagonally over the long speed bumps by my house, I have lost all desire to own one. If I could raise it by 3/4 of an inch and it would help I would do that. Otherwise, my '93 Nissan 240SX is WAY more fun. You can actually rev it up without going to prison. Driving this Corvette on the street is like sitting on a nuclear bomb you cannot use (except on freeway on ramps). This is surely an exceptional track car and country car, but in the city it's really not fun at all. The body styling is absolute PERFECTION. I could look at it all day.
I agree thats why i have not jumped the gun on lowering it even more. Although they look absolutely beautiful when the fitment is flush, idk if its worth loosing drivability. I live in san diego, i always drive it like a grandpa cause theres absolutely traffic everywhere, and cops on open roads
Great info. Great car. I have the same exact spec'd car in a 2012 Inferno Orange. You are spot on about the headlights. There are also some more big differences between the ZO6 and grand sport. The ZO6 has a different lighter all aluminum frame. The transmission is geared differently. The differential is also different and beefier. The ZO6 is a non targa top fixed roof car. Shocks and springs are different with different spring rate. The front fenders are not just different looks wise, the zo6 has carbon fiber fenders. The ZO6 is about 100 pounds lighter i think. Also, another big difference is Grand Sports can be ordered as automatics and convertibles. C6Zs cant. But that means losing cooling options, hand built motor, and dry sump in the grand sport in the autos and convertibles
Great video man! And great looking GS! My current daily is a C5 6speed. I love how it drives however as a 20 years old GM. I’m a little tired with all the plastic rattle and wind/road noise. And I lowered my car since the stock height of C5 is just way to high. But I like the how C6 GS looks with stock height and I’m really thinking to upgrade to C6 GS. So do you have any experience with rattle and wind road noise that make you need to raises your volume when you speak to someone in car? And have you have any issues with the car so far? Thanks!
The C6 gs is definetly a great option. After 2008 they fixed a lot of the problems incluiding rattles and wind noise. Since i have stock speakers, nothing has been tampered with and thats why i do not experience any rattles. Windnoise is not really a problem in my car, the only rattle that was insanely annoying was the e brake button rattle, which i fixed with a 3M foam insulation.
@@PushingGears got it, after I got my C5 I already took the center console off 4 time due to replace this or that. I don’t think the E brake on my C5 rattling but I will definitely keep an eye on it if I purchase my C6. Appreciate the feedback man!
You got a good price on that car. I am surprised no heads-up display. Not sure why the wheel spacers are needed. My Z06 has those same wheels you have in Black, and no spacers needed.

I wouldn’t cam, turbo, supercharged leave as is, maybe if anything headers but it’s not necessary. You’re already beating most cars twice or more it’s price in the streets by being stock lol
I had a 2008 zo6 highly modded multiple owners raced n abused money pit traded for a 2010 GS auto car 1 owner car 23k miles ended up financing 25k after trade of my Zo6. I dig my Grand Sport the targa top drivability etc. Exahust only. Siver car with black C7 zo6 replica rims 345s in the rear.

The LS3 is more reliable so you made a good choice. The LS7 in the Z06 sounds AMAZING but has dropped valve issues.

The other difference over the z06 is the steel frame (vs aluminum in the z06), but otherwise you're pretty much spot on. Two thumbs up from me.
