I was in school in the 1950's and 1960's. Memphis TN. Awesome food cooked on site. Beef stew, puffy rolls, pies, cake, choice of chocolate or regular milk. In high school we had BBQ sandwiches with coleslaw and fries. Cinnamon buns with lots of icing. Coca Cola and other bottled beverages. We could even get sweetened iced tea. The list goes on and on. Miss those good meals. My mother grew up during the depression and that was another story. They could not afford school lunches (their mother was in the hospital with an infected arm for nearly a year (pre antibiotics). Their father couldn't find work. Mom talked about eating a handful of unshelled pecans one day. That's all they had for the day. Mom's grandmother came up from MS and saved the day for a while. She brought a lot of food she had canned and taught Mom how to cook efficiently. My dad grew up on a farm and had plenty to eat. He graduated in 1937. They carried their lunches in buckets with handles. Usually, a big biscuit, slice of meat and some beans.

For us, in the 90's, your school lunch was still a school lunch, but you could use credits or pay for Pizza Hut or Subway. We also had an open campus, so it was rare that we ate in the cafeteria. We had fresh pizza, deli, convenience stores, Burger King, Dairy Queen, and a grocery store within walking distance.

I remember cafeteria food from the 80's and 90's. Some days were better then others, yeah to pizza, hamburger, chilli days. Was not a big fan of casserole, chicken nugget, spaghetti, or meatloaf days. Our only choice was milk but in highschool, I could purchase ala carte, so my lunch consisted of granola bar, cool ranch doritos and chocolate milk. Sometimes I would add a bannana or apple

Grew up in 2000s and 2010s in Canada so we had no school lunch program, so during elementary years parents had to make your lunches everyday. However, every last Friday of the month there was a fun lunch if your parents pre paid for it, which the first 2 years were KFC, McDonalds after that the rest of it was Pizza and veggies from Papa John's

But then in high school,84-88,they cooked everything fresh and we had bomb hot meals and we had a sandwich bar and a salad bar….but always only milk or chocolate milk….

Never had any McDonald’s or Pizza Hut Graduated in 97. No Gatorade but we had the option for iced tea. Pasta, pizza, nuggets, meatloaf for 12 years. We had taco day which was always exciting. I think chicken patties on a bun was available everyday for people who didn’t like what the main protein was. My school made homemade desserts though! Cookies, cakes, fudge. I don’t remember fruit unless u count jello!

70s was definitely not the era of Disco, that was the last era of classic rock. 80s is when disco became prevalent! We didn’t have fast food for lunches in the 90s, best thing we had was the salad bar and the milkshakes they made guaranteed three weird hairs on top of each one 😂. 2000 I’m in high school, there was no more lunch, I’m outside with my friends the whole time waiting till we get home to eat something. 2010 I was outta college and a couple kids deep 😅. Love the video though, this was a great walk down memory lane for me! Thank you guys! PS Dasani is the worst, the amount of salt they add alone gives people heart burn. I’d go for tap over a bottle of Dasani.

I was born in 78, who remembers the milk pouches? They would come in a small clear pouch that you have to stab, and a lot of times it would go through to the other side. I remember everyone had to have the coolest lunch box in elementary school. When you got older and made it to a higher grade, you would have to bring your lunch in a paper bag. If you were still using your lunch box though, you would get picked on by everyone, especially if your mother wrote you a note on the inside saying she loved you, and to have a good day at school. How dare our parents love us back then!😄 We also never had the free meals like the kids have today. Nowadays, if your family isn't that well off, and you can't afford the lunches, then the school would supplie them for you. Back then, if your family couldn't afford your lunches, you were screwed, and didn't get any lunch! 😁 but one of the things I miss the most about school lunches, was trading all of the foods you didn't like with your friends. Friends today just aren't the same as they were back then. That's not in a bad way, it's just in a different way. 🤠🥸😎

In your 1960s lunch, they did encourage us to eat spinach like Popeye but it was never fresh spinach like that, lol! It was canned spinach we got, there was even a Popeye brand canned spinach. Most of the vegetables we got back in lunches then were canned. Most kids wouldn't known what to make of a pile of spinach leaves.

I was in school in the 60s and the food was fabulous. I don't really remember pizza until the 70s though. I know no school lunch I've ever had looked as bad as what y'all ate here 😆 My kids were in school in the 90s and just the opposite of this, they had salad bars and all sorts of healthier options. And of course, nugs 😄

The way you did 90s elementary/middle school food dirty. We had the best sloppy joe's, and those amazing, rectangle pizzas with the tiny, square pepporonis...Bomb... But you showed us getting McDonald's in the 90s... Smh lol
Editing: Because I also grew up in California in the 90s, and we definitely did not get soda as an option, ever lol. Not until high school, which was 2000+ and you had to pay extra for it.

When I was in middle school (2002-2006) Fiesta pizza was the thing to have cause it came with nachos and cheese sauce. In high school burritos were a popular item as well. Cool video guys 👍

I went to school in Minneapolis Minnesota in the 50s and 60s and we had home cooking in school. We had hamburger or turkeys gravy over mash potatoes, cake, fresh fruit, butter bread or peanut butter bread, and chocolate or white milk. I loved school lunches. The only time I took a lunch to school was when my mom made salad dressing cake.

80s lunch was tater tots and square pizza, NOT with triangle pepperoni, the squares, corn, no gatorade, but milk. The 90s the same, except you could only get 2% milk, and it was fries, not tots.

If anybody is looking for a video similar to this one that Brennen did back towards the tail end of 2022 type in "Eating the Worst Recipes of 1950... (Can't Believe People Ate This)" into the TH-cam search. He chokes down a cake thick with cream cheese and other ingredients! Obviously finish this video first then head over to that one! 😁

I'm Australian and was born in 1984. Here kids bring lunch from home most of the time and can buy food from the canteen as a treat. Most of my lunches were a sandwich, cordial and fruit. Sometimes I was allowed to buy a meat pie for lunch

I was born in the 80s in Australia started school in the 90s, we brought packed lunches with bread rolls or sandwiches, packet of chips, fruit boxes, and once a week would get a lunch order, which is food from the canteen, I'd normally get a pizza single or lasagne

I would have been having lunch in the 70s and early eighties...always had a metal lunchbox - Partridge Family! I remember warm bologne sandwiches with mayo. Funny...it sat out non refrigerated all morning and we didn't get sick!

I miss early 2000s when I was in middle and high school and I lived off taco salads. We had different lines one was like pizza, one was taco salad, etc. And then a spot where you could buy chicken burgers or nachos

I was in school during the 70s and 80s. What looked like dog food, but tasted so good was beef and gravy over potatoes! Pizza was like sauce and cheese on a piece of bread , I swear! But the “piece de resistance” was peanut butter bars! We were begging people for dimes like we needed a straight up fix to get those bars!! You didn’t go into breakfasts, but Super Donuts were (and still are, I believe) the shiznit!!

Public school in the mid-90s in Philly was like TV dinners and then pizza on Fridays.
The private elementary school I attended from 1998-2006 you either brought your own lunch or you could go home if you lived within walking distance. We got out like 12:20 and had to return by 1.
Highschool..we had wraps, salads, & sandwiches freshly made along with a hot grab & go section which was usually pizza, fries, chicken, and random stuff on special. I graduated in 2010.
