Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. It was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

You should record /show when you cross a state line into a new state and maybe announce what number the state is in your list of states you'll visit. Or at least say we are now entering Arkansas etc and record the signs signifying the State. Just a suggestion.
At least show a little of the State besides the one local you're going to. Some of your followers will be thrilled to see something they recognize even if it's just a quick glance and a quick consideration.

@strawberry helicopter if this video isn't your cup of tea, i highly recommend checking out some of their older stuff, especially from 2019 and 2020. I've watched a lot of travel channels on TH-cam, but only follow 3, and this is one of them. The quality of their videos is top notch, and when they were traveling internationally they explored all sorts of interesting places and cultures and met all kinds of people.

@strawberry helicopter Try watching their vlogs on climbing to the Everest base camp or their adventures on the Siberian Express. If you saw how they started and followed how far they have come, you would understand.

Interesting renovation. I worked in that AR silo when it was active. From a historic standpoint the shell is still accurate less the heart beat that once beat there. Thanks for the share, if you make it to AZ you should visit the Titan II museum to complete this adventure. :)

A Cold War missile bunker Airbnb
Now THAT is an Airbnb that stands out. Always been fascinated with the Cold War (for obvious reasons) so the fact a bunker from that era was turned into a cool place you can stay and sleep in is pretty cool and amazes me. What an experience. The historian side of my brain is in its happy place

Interesting but I miss the travel on a budget videos and living in the van. Kind of a lot of hotels/airbnbs lately. Would like to see some mix of food vlogs, small towns, meeting locals that live in the area, hikes- like in the past.
Me too! Was thinking I would love just to see some "normal" everyday stuff..Every week it seems it has to be something "great"..I actually skipped a few weeks watching.
@@lisakelly2194 totally agree. I follow adventures of A + K and I feel like Kara and Nate used to do a lot of what they do, and now it’s more like expensive hotels and quirky Airbnbs. Which is fine, but I would have liked to see more of what the state had to offer.

My wife and I stayed here a year ago. I had been following GT's channel and was so excited when his conversion project was nearing completion. Our stay happened to correspond with our move down south and I just happened across this video right before booking the Airbnb. This was a dream come true for me and I was so pleased that you guys made a video about your stay here. You gave an amazing tour of the complex. It really cemented my decision to book it. GT was a great host and when I met him I gushed like a little school girl. LOL
This man is living the dream! How cool would it be to buy a place like this!! I wish I had the opportunity to find stuff like this and do projects like this! I just find it so cool to be apart of history!

That is super cool, if you ever make it back to Arizona there is an intact silo complete with missile, minus warhead. And they'll let stay in the original crew quarters.
Kara and Nate, we love watching your videos!!!! I found you on TH-cam a couple of months ago, so have been getting caught up with all the locations that you have visited over the past 4+ years. It's great to be able to see these many locations around the world, even though I'll never get to personally visit them. Your videos on your trek to Everest base camp, South America and Antarctica are the best and so fun to watch. Plus, your 2020 and 2021 van life videos are so great to watch, as this lets us see many locations and sites in the USA that we won't be able to see on our own. This is so cool. In the Air Force I was a MMII missile mechanic. One reason the floors are hanging and the space away from the walls is if the ground around the silo or LCC is blasted they will sway and remain level. This allows a launch and for the LCC to sustain an impact. Really brave to climb that ladder without a body harness and retracting lanyard system.

Yeah; my first thought on seeing the 'bare' circular-staircase opening: "why isn't there a railing around that?!" And then climbing out up the 50-ft. ladder?! Weird to think that my acrophobia (height-fear) might keep me from staying *underground!*

I never thought about how unsettling it'd be to wake up in a bunker and it's still pitch black. Not just the complete darkness but the silence would probably be maddening too
