@@tonyburzio4107 I think he's joking about how there's so many people willing to wait for the next generation of products in hope for a significant upgrade instead of buying the current generation. Realistically speaking the Macbook Air is getting an M4 refresh in 2025 so unless you're getting an M4 pro, you should not be waiting for an M4 air
It would absolutely make sense to distinguish the 3 market segments, casual users, power users, and extreme users by separating the chips into 3 camps:
1. The regular and Pro with more efficiency cores for better power consumption,
2. The Max/Ultra with more performance cores for desktop configurations not limited by portability,
3. The niche but lucrative market of the next (real) Mac Pro, possibly with multiple tandem chip options for cash-laden corporations and wealthy loons.
I just bought the base M3 Pro MBP 14 so there's no M4 in my future. That's fine for my use case, the M3 is a beast.
for Macbook Air, at least a 90 hertz refresh rate for screen, 512 tb / 16 gig ram as minimum. fingers crossed

i seen and heard was out of touch tech bros one after the other talking about video editing on m3 talking from a social media stand point instead of a consumer stand point i am none the wiser about
the base model being good enough for web browsing and watching videos online it was about editing videos i’m not interested in making videos
i just wanted to know if it’s good enough for regular use
My latest prediction is that there will be new macs with get this, M4 chips within the next year. Plus I hear of rumours of something completely unexpected. New chips will get M5 chips are in development for release within three years. What will they think of next? Plus lots of upgrades with USB-C connectivity.
Nah , Tim Cook isn't a cheapskate .... guarantee you MacPro M4 Ultra/Hidra is gonna be power hungry chip and will need the big chassis for expandability and cooling. Apple never design something for short term.
Just like there was a reason why the chassis on MBP14/16 got beefier even though we saw how over engineered chassis was for the M1Max.
Turns out future version of the M-series chipset can consume quite a bit of power and also the fans turns up.
Apple engineer their chassis for 5-10yrs horizon.
