My 670 initially gave me a lil bit of a fight configuring the MIDI settings so I could hook it up to some VSTs but I finally got it. I run Pianoteq 8 with it and it sounds great. I got a 1/4 splitter for the headphones jack and hooked a couple of 1/4 TSR cables to it which I connected to 2 HS5 Yamaha speakers and I got a new sound experience now, given that the 670 has this feature in the settings where you can choose to run both, the built in speakers and external monitors at the same time. I'm considering buying the Yamaha CP88 as I love that keyboard sounds and features (mostly because of the CFX piano being my favorite) but I'll keep the 670 as well, which comes loaded with the CFX piano. Thanks for this info, anyway. Very useful for those struggling with the hook ups of this keyboard 👍
This configuration is excellent if you know how to balance the volumes on the four speakers. Use good quality cables with gold connectors. It looks very good.
@DiegoDourado - I didn't really had to make any changes. The only thing i kept into consideration based on online comments was to keep the speakers at 50% of their max volume to avoid distortion and then adjust as needed, but I left them like that as I get plenty of volume. Other than that, I get good balanced sound out of the 4 speakers 🔊
It is always preferable to use the external sound interface because the quality is better and you can record in 48 bits while the dgx interface records in just 44. In addition, the interface serves as an amplifier for your headphones, depending on the model it can be smooth on directly on dgx. I use audio technica m20x headphones and they work well. Reverse with yamaha hs7 monitors. Good sounds!!
How to connect external stereo speakers to the DGX-670? Is it enough to place a TRS stereo connector with mono L and R division at the headphone output? or will the sound be of poor quality? It really seems crazy to me that the dgx-670 does not have an L and R output and this is the worst of the limitations of this keyboard.
Following Phill. I love this keyboard and no one mentions this process at the stores. I'm not by any means a pianist but I want to learn one day. This is going to be my first piano one day.
So Guitar Center has the specs on the headphone jack as 1/8". Sweetwater has it as a 6.3mm or 1/4". GC also says you need an adapter for the headphone jack to convert to 1/4". Well, you answered my question as it's a 1/4". I want this for an amp output. The picture on GC can't zoom in enough to see it clearly. Thanks for being the only one to answer that question clearly. Subbed.

Indeed. I'm sure if they could do it again they would include that LR functionality. But the splitter cable approach works ok. I prefer the USB audio out for studio stuff.
You cannot use Apple headphone/wireless headphones directly. You would need a transmitter to plug into the output socket to use wireless headphones. DGX 670 does not transmit audio output over bluetooth to my knowledge. www.epianos.co.uk/can-i-use-bluetooth-headphones-with-my-yamaha-digital-piano Yamaha generally recommends using wired headphones with their digital pianos and keyboard instruments because of the slight delay that occurs when using Bluetooth headphones. This delay, known as audio latency, can make playing feel sluggish and cause the sound to feel like it's behind. While this delay is not noticeable when listening to songs or rhythms, it can be jarring when playing. With that said, you could connect the DGX 670 using USB to a computer or an ipad and see if you can listen to the output conveniently using your Apple / wireless headset without too much lag.
