When installing the lower frame rail filter, you need to add a little light grease to the housing threads and green o-ring, otherwise, you think the housing is tight but it may not be 100% tight which allows air to enter the fuel system. At the very end, you need to purge/key on-off cycle at least 6 times to get the air out, possibly more times than 6.
You should always grease the o ring before installing it as well as the top inner lip of the housing. The housing will spin on much easier and give a better seal as those filter housings are notorious for air leaks.
Top filter u turn counter clock to take out and reinstall is clockwise to lock in it. Doing it the way u did can cause the check engine light to come on. Other mentioned everything else pretty much
Cody, Thank you!. I was concerned when I started to change my lower filter. I thought the lower housing was shorter that it was. Your video was clear and I could make out it was longer. When I was installing my filter it stopped after five or six rotations and the two alignment markers on the driver side inner frame met. I also could hear the fuel filling the system as I cycled the key 10 times. You could hear gurgling at the lower filter. Thanks again!
When changing the under cab filter, there may be an extra brace supporting the canister that will need to be moved. Then unscrew the housing until it gets past the o-ring, it will get substantially easier, then open the petcock drain. This is not covered in the video.
I just tried to do this. Must have drained half a gallon of fuel before I stopped trying. Then the housing spun not the lower half. Not so simple a job. Must need something to hold upper half from turning in a 2016.
Help Codyyyyy, changed the filters, did the key turn gas line purge 6 times and now I have a "low fuel pressure" warning and truck looses power and stalls
One thing I would advise folks not to do is just use the 32mm socket to remove the lower filter housing, one should use a strap wrench with the 32mm socket. Otherwise it could be a $90.00 price ticket to replace the filter housing as I found out because the plastic 32mm nut broke off very quickly. Apparently the Ford garage tighten the filter housing way to tight the last time I had my filter change. Good Luck.
I change both fuel filters somebody having an ideal why my truck don't want to start I am followed instructions to turn the key on 6 time for 30 seconds they don't want to start so you guys think go air into ar into the line
Cody I changed the top fuel filter and where the white clip u push in to get fuel line off broke -50 below. To replace that does the yellow Broke off too. What is that piece called to get replaced or how to I go about fixing it
So you broke the clip on the fuel line? Or the small clip on the housing that holds the filter under the hood ? I need to add a 6.7 powerstroke section to the forum , that way you can post pics. Give me a hour that section will be up. www.codythecarguy.com/forum
It was not the blue clip but the yellow and white clip both just shattered in the cold. Poor cell reception up here. Got it running but need to get some parts now. So mainly wondering how to replace that in hose section where white clip is to yellow clip Thanks for your response and information on this really great job Wish I could post a picture to show u
Cody I tried to sign up on your page says error Anyway I went to ford got the return fuel line How does that small black hose come off my new part with white plastic end that snaps to filter I can't get it separated. Do I heat the hose up to try slip off there or cut the hose and re push on new end
TheGreydog65 i did just that and truck will not start. Air locked the sob! $145 tow truck bill and now waiting on Ford to bill me for getting it purged. Hopefully I didn’t destroy any injectors
In the end result after 30 years since intro of diesels to small trucks and cars....its not worth it.We are switching back to gas motors as Verizon and UPS Cummins disaster. Way to expensive to maintain and repair. We got rid of Duramax tow trucks and went to 6 liter and 7 gm gassers.Cheap to fix and maintain in fleet use. Only our Mack remains which is bullet proof.
That filter underneath want to make sure that o ringringers oiled up and that’s thing screwed all the way up or you will have air what a pain in the butt

Good job Cody from a ford tec of 21 yrs 😊thanks

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It saved me $$$$
Thank you for posting this! Filmed well and explained well.

This was an excellent video demonstration. It really helped me out. Thank you

You had two o rings in there
Hello Cody, Thank you for ALL the videos. Can you show us how to remove the Turbo Silencer off a 2011 Ford F250 6.7L. Please. Thank you very much.
you mention spraying and cleaning up, what do you use to clean it up? i'm guessing not water right? new at diesel engines
Brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner would work best.
Thanks brother!!! appreciate the video. you just saved me some $$$ lol
Awesome dude thank you
When I try to loosen bottom filter the whole housing turns will not come loose , help
Great video, saved me a bunch of money. Really easy to do, great tips. Thanks
Stupid question, can I not unscrew that housing by hand or do I NEED that socket ?
Great detailed video 👍🏼🔥
why do you think it was suckling air?
I change both fuel filters somebody having an ideal why my truck don't want to start I am followed instructions to turn the key on 6 time for 30 seconds they don't want to start so you guys think go air into ar into the line
That prong sitting under the filter really messed me up. I was like what?? Mind didn’t have that.
What size on that socket
What can be wrong my truck goes engine power reduced after I change all my filters
While your there why not tell us what size socket is needed for the bottom one. Otherwise thanks for the instructions
32mm
Dude sounds like Noah that plays in the notebook
Hey Cody I got the 2017 model and I can't find the bottom fuel filter did Ford change it?
Does the lower power mode go off after replacing?
Cody, took mine to the shop, they can’t budge it, seems locked in place. Any ideas on how to resolve. (under truck filter)
What size socket did you use on the frame filter can?
32mm
driving to a dealer under reduced power cause more problems or get it towed.
Drifter's Den if the engine is running with no odd sounds you should be ok but personally I recommend getting it towed. That’s just me
how do you prime your filters/engine before you start the engine?
Cycle the key to on/run 6 times leaving it in the on/run position for 30-seconds each time.
What size socket did you use?
ISLAND DAVE about 36mm

Have a 2015 F350 giving a low fuel pressure warning code POO87 & P0170
Hopefully you see this... but this just happened to me. Low pressure warning. What did you do? I have a 2013 f350.
Thanks!
Thanks. Awesome vid
How often would you say these need to be changed? Or do you just wait for the computer to tell you to change?
TShull they tell you every other oil change... which at 80 bucks a pop is ludicrous... I do mine every 20k.
The schedule for my 2016 says every 22.5k miles
Awesome thanks!
Thank u for u videos ,,man ,works good for me ,, alot help

Why didn't you lube the orang
Trevor Mangus what would you recommend lubing it with?
@@mjwpowerstroke You can lube it with Diesel

Would have been a little more helpful if you had given us the socket size for the lower fuel filter.
heyy 1 bro
my dad afraid of changing the filter causdnhe thinks he's going to damage his injectors 😐
