We, the "Jingu-no-Mori Guitar Ensemble," currently have nine members and meet and practice once a week. We engage in various genres of music and have recently taken on significant challenges.
Five years ago, we performed all the movements of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" (excerpt). 2 years ago, the fourth movement of Beethoven's Ninth (excerpt), and last year, Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" (excerpt). Today, we will perform all the movements (excerpts) of Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World."
The term "New World" refers to America, as perceived by the composer Dvořák, and it carries the emotions of his Czech homeland. The most important reason for the popularity of this piece is its beautiful melodies that transcend the boundaries of classical music. The first movement begins with a quiet introduction, followed by the first theme, which reminds one of a Negro spiritual, and ends dramatically with the second theme, which builds to a powerful climax. The lyrics and melody of the second movement, "Goin' home, goin' home I'm a-goin' home," may have been heard at least once before. The third movement consists of main sections, a trio featuring scenes of indigenous people dancing, and a coda. The fourth movement is suddenly energized by a melody similar to the music when sharks appear in the movie "Jaws," followed by the famous theme and the principal theme of each movement, and finally closes with a grand climax.
Condensing all the magnificent movements into 20 minutes and performing without a conductor posed challenges for the ensemble.

私たち「神宮の森ギターアンサンブル」は現在9名のメンバーで週に1度活動しています。色々な分野の音楽に取り組んでいますが最近では大曲にも挑戦していて、5年前にはロドリーゴの「アランフェス協奏曲」全楽章（抜粋）、一昨年はベートーヴェンの第九の第4楽章（抜粋）、昨年はムソルグスキーの「展覧会の絵」（抜粋）を演奏しました。今回はドボルザークの交響曲第9番「新世界より」の全楽章（抜粋）に挑戦します。
「新世界」とは作曲者のドボルザークが見たアメリカの事で、チェコ出身の彼の故郷を思う気持ちが込められています。この曲が人気のある最も大きな理由は、クラシックの垣根を超えた美しいメロディーが次々と溢れ出てくるところにあるといわれています。
第1楽章は静かな序奏から第1主題が現れ、黒人霊歌を思い起こさせる第2主題のあと力強く盛り上がったところで劇的に終わります。第2楽章の「遠き山に日は落ちて」の歌詞とメロディーは、一度は耳にしたことがあるのではないでしょうか。第3楽章は主部、トリオ、コーダで構成されていますが、トリオの部分は先住民が躍る場面が表現されています。第4楽章はいきなり映画「ジョーズ」の中で鮫が出てくるときの音楽と大変よく似たメロディーで盛り上がり、続いてあの有名なメロディーが、さらに各楽章の主要主題が登場し最後は壮大なクライマックスの中で幕を閉じます。壮大な全楽章を20分にまとめることと、指揮者なしでの演奏に苦労をしました。

指揮者なしでこれだけ合わせるの大変でしょうね。1泊目のヒット、トレモロの数、スケール等々。
