The combo amp has gone in and out of style over the years, reaching an initial peak in the mid Sixties before CBS purchased Fender and getting another bump in popularity during the Seventies when Mesa/Boogie hit the scene.
Today, numerous combo amp models are available to choose from, but few companies offer variety comparable to Carr, which makes 10 different combo models.
The Skylark is the latest addition to the company’s lineup, and it packs a ton of versatile features into its compact chassis.
My most wanted piece of gear...love everything carr does
Worth every penny. Amazing amps.
What's amazing is that people will poo poo amps of this quality that will reinvent - reinvigorate their entire arsenal of guitars, yet they'll pay lots more for a single guitar. Makes no sense.
A five thousand dollar guitar played through an average amp will not sound as good as a 600 Mexican strat or Tele played through one of these. It never falls, and is an immutable law of gear.
You nailed it with that comment!
Very true. Of course you can have nice amps a bit cheaper, but just look how Carr produces these fantastic instruments. They have to run a small business where almost every section of the amp (chassis, cabinet, etc.) is done in house.
I love my Rambler and Skylark.
Wait, you have 2 Carr amps? I'm tryin to figure out how to afford a used Skylark. LOL@@gurrgurr1023
Totaly agreed
Spot on
Whoa!!!---You knocked me out of my chair bro !!!---Keep it coming !!! Love the tone of these amps !!!
This amp is amazing
Car amps are the best out there! wish i could afford one...
if you save up it will be worth it, as you can keep one for life
Just ordered one on reverb excited to try it out.
what are your thoughts on the Skylark after a year?
@@gbc77000 I didn't like it for a while and kept almost selling it, but now that I use it on the non attenuated setting it sounds great with all my pedals and I love it. I have 4 other amps and it is the one I use mainly now. It is perfect for at home use which is how I use it. I don't really like the attenuated channel with pedals. It is good with only a boost. The dirt is not as good to my ears as some of my pedals.
I just picked up a Skylark too and it is truly epic !!
One of the guys at our church plays through a Carr Rambler & it sounds great. Fantastic build quality :-)
Very nice amp! You made it sound great Paul :-)
Are you talking to the guitar?
Wonderful!
Wow first time I've heard the Skylark, Man it sounds killer. I have a Super Bee and this is next.
Cmon Paul button that top button
lol
Cool sound!
Truly touch sensitive
Those things are might mighty combos!
Mr.Paul I love that guitar !!!
I wish I had an amp:-(.. Especially one like this. Someday again:-)
How are you playing without an amp?
You know you can use simple speakers for your electric guitar.
How do you do that?
Siddharth Karunakaran plug it into any speaker with a jack, turn it up.
YonOtto Ok thanks.
I want that guitar! :-)
Nice, Sounds a lot like an old Peavey tube amp.
Too expensive. Great dirty tone and beautiful break-up in the distortion that few amps rival.
Cool!
What model of Les paul is that? VOS? finish looks very cool
Sounds amazing but it's one expensive little bugger.
Best tube amp...
😍
Sounds really nice, but for 12watts and a price tag of $2,390.00, no thank you!!!!
Paul can play but he looks like holy shit in this vid
bruh
ok so what is the difference between this and the Mercury ? splitting hairs it seems
Skylark is American voiced - Mercury more on the british side of things. Cranked mercury is in JCM800 territory but will not do blackface/tweed as well as skylark. Skylark with not gain up as heavily as the Mercury but excels at American sounds. Reverb is slightly better on my skylark than on my mercury too - more of an even taper
Dominic Hand
Thanks ! I see Skylark has 6V6, Mercury has EL 34
You a lucky guy to have both, I am trying to decide on one.
Then there is that Carol Ann OD3r LOL
Dominic Hand So for mortals who have to choose just one... which one would be the one to go for dirty blues tones?
This guy's a great player, but I think he needs to get out a bit more. He has that "Hi, I've been living in an abandoned mine for about 30 years" look. It'd also be nice if he learned something besides the blues scale, although I realize that's not necessary these days. In fact, it's not necessary to know how to play much of anything, as long as you have a good publicist.
This is the most pompous and pretentious comment I've seen in a very, very long time.
Awesome!
