The event is meant to be historically accurate....which is a flaw and a plus, a plus since old cards are nice but flawed since we have today's knowledge about these formats.
I know I was meaning like even for then I played back in early 2000s too I can't believe it took us so long to realize how good it was lol
@@braysonplayz4298I only ever found two copies on my 2004 tournament edition for GBA and ran both with triple trunade and duster. More outs is more gooder
Back then people were scared to play it because cutting LP in half = bad
Now we realize it’s worth the cost
@@GlennElliottKeller Cutting LP in half used to be a serious cost, but there were some decent life point gain cards you could use like nimble momonga that helped offset the cost while doing something else. We probably overestimated the negative of paying half half your life points, but having a card that is effectively 7 tools of bandit/magic jammer/trap hole in one deck slot is pretty good, in old card evaluation terms. Even when I used to think it was really expensive, running one plus imperial order was basically mandatory

i actually just play one nobelman it was a choice between playing 39 deck with upstar or just plaing another copy and i saw that i had a lot of ways to get rid of sets so it never felt big impact to me

Honestly, I love OCG Vol. 5 Format and Curse of Anubis format. I hope that those are made.
Among TCG: Chaos, Goat, Ruler, Hat, “end of 2016 - pre-zoo”, Zoo, and Toss format are my favorites.

Despite all the tilt during the event I enjoyed it for the most part. Warrior control with Marauding Captain and The A. Forces caught W's

No good fusion. We have in the form, last warrior from other planet, as long as opponent did not draw creature swap then your are fine. Tbh, old format is better, as your need to learn card management a lot, your don want end up no card at all, since most of the win is come to whoever manage the card correctly. Second in the early 2004, there is no such thing as heavy combo deck. 3rd your need to learn about recruiter, recruiter is the card that special summon monster from deck if it been sent from field to GY. Shining angel and mystic tomato is the best one, as if destroy shinning angel special summon dd warrior lady to f@#k opponent up, destroy mystic tomato to special summon spirit reaper or yomi ship.
As you can see from the video, recruiter can't recruit if your opponent doesn't attack and you can't attack.
4 out of 5 duels are fueled by level limit area B, messenger and gravity bind.
If you enjoy this you must be a psychopath who wants to torture your opponent because they can't even do anything for 12 turn streak waiting to draw the out for your floodgates only to be met by solemn judgment
This mode is so trash, floodgate Andy's all over. I hope they never make this a permanent mode. Respawn as a kid if you want this dogshyt Yu-Gi-Oh back.
No one will force (or want) you to play it bro don't worry. Let other people have fun different people enjoy the game in different ways to you.
Is this any worse than the even more impossible to out floodgates of modern yugioh? Atleast here you have heavy storm, mof, mst, dust tornado etc, and a much more slow paced format that doesnt care as much. Ive really enjoyed this event! Super fun playing some monarchs.

@@mushygingerbread3949this is the thing right. You have so much more time to out said floodgates and they are so much weaker. A turn skip in modern is game unless you can also skip your opponents turn. In retro formats sure they can buy themselves some turns with these cards but if they can’t kill you themselves you can just chill until you draw one of the half a dozen outs you have room to main because don’t need to cram 12 hand traps and 12 one card starters. It is just so much more relaxing to play.
Hell if you’re desperate malevolent catastrophe was completely unlimited to 3

@@austinwestfall8018modern players saying stuff like this and then queuing super heavy, mannadium or stun like those decks are better. Or you know having the game decided by comparing hand traps. Also incredibly skill intensive.

My experience with this event was not horrible but also not extremely fun, I think that the player going first has way too much advantage, if their deck is well constructed and they don't make basic mistakes, the win is almost guaranteed. Still, I think this should be a permanent mode of the game for the people that enjoy this stuff, while I prefer the modern game, this mode would be great to for people that are just starting to play or played 20 years ago. Can't wait for the Edison event.
its good mode overall for me, at least there is place to play if i tired with modern yugioh, I'm not saying modern yugioh is bad, its just sometimes i wanna play yugioh but with slower pace. N/R event was the blast and this is one of them that MD provided.we need this mode to be permanent
If the game launched with a “classic mode” I just can’t help but wonder how many more players it would have maintained that wanted to play for nostalgia and then got stomped into the dust on ladder by 15 minute combo decks.
Given how much longer these duels overall took (somtimes more than twenty turns), is that really so big a factor?
In chess white also has the upper hand strictly speaking but winning with black isn't unreasonably difficult either.

Not gonna lie, this event has sucked. Most of my games are just people flipping floodgates and setting 3 solemn judgement. And a CRAZY amount of people playing heart of the underdog exodia. You sure bro, I'd love to sit here for five minutes while you draw every card in your deck one at a time

@@isluh96133 dust tornado 1 mst 1 storm vs 3 gravity bind 3 solemn judgment 3 Messenger and 3 level limit area B. Basically you have to play nephthys to deal with those otherwise it's an instant scoop if you play an aggro, draw the out.
@@isluh9613keep in mind you can't nobleman floodgates either, basically you stuck with 5 s/t removal 4 of them are single target vs 12 effective floodgates and backrow protector. Yeah sure buddy.
