We saw the old (a provincial governor's palace) to the new Shikumen architectural complex. Still a great place to visit with great food, friendly locals, safe and clean (we saw no litter, no tagging). If you visit on the weekends or holidays you will be swamped with people.
Most of the people you see wearing uniforms on the streets are security guards, not police officers. In fact, there are relatively few police officers on the streets, except for traffic police.
those police-looking people are guards actually. i highly recommend west nanjing road, the other side of nanjing road, very boogie and luxurious, full of fashion houses, fantastic boutiques and world class shopping malls.

I found that many people in the West feel very important and that the government must monitor themselves, right?? Do you really think anyone deserves to be watched?? I think too highly of myself. I want to say that you are nothing, and no one cares about your political statement 😅 if your political statement alarms the police, it is because the police are afraid that you will be surrounded and beaten. It's not that you think your words can have any influence. 😂 it's really arrogant. China, 1.4 billion people, the city is very densely populated, not so many police to monitor everyone.
I really don't understand why there's such a ridiculous rumor about China baned Christmas. Truly most Chinese people whorship their ancestor and Confucianism. But there is still more than 20 million Chinese Christian.
China used to be very crowded, but no more since people are living in a three-dimensional manner in high-rise buildings, huge shopping malls, underground markets and in the tubes. Even more significantly shopping online for almost everything from the comfort of home.
There is no need to go to Nanjing East Road, it is flooded with tourists. In fact, the essence of Shanghai is from Jing'an Temple to Nanjing West Road. You'll find a more local feel. Also, go to Xintiandi and Zhangyuan, especially Xintiandi, which is a relaxing place with many modern buildings. You can experience the combination of Shanghai's history and modernity.

There is one thing that I dont understand from the western media is on the matter of "police", "security guards" or "surveillance cameras" in xxx country. Why the media want to imply that this is a bad thing. I am a good citizen, having all these makes the place I live in a safe place. I don't need to worry about people robbing me, attacking me or shooting me. I only reason that I can think of is either the people who dislike these have done something that they are not proud of or they don't trust the government and believe that the government will use the "surveillance cameras" against people's interest. I trust my government, I have nothing to hide and I hope we have more police forces and cameras to make my place a safer and pleasant place to live in.

不知道西方国家为什么对中国摄像头如此敏感,实际上中国人对此无所谓,为什么对能给你带来安全、让坏人恐惧的摄像头不欢迎呢?况且实际上世界摄像头分布密度最高是伦敦!
谢谢!
Thank you! ☺️
A great thanks to you guys for telling the true feeling about China! Wish you have a good time there!
Thank you! 😃
those are not police, just security guards
I see more police in the U.S. for any of the games taking place in the US.
The police are standing guard! The security guards are taking a walk on the roadside!
You are the funniest person I have ever met. Others are sincerely sharing their travel experiences here, and you are shouting slogans here. No matter what your appeal is, it makes me think you are a clown and you are talking about a very low level. @anglohan5428
Ok thanks ☺️
@@sunkissedbucketlist also good to note is that the police you see are almost always traffic police or public safety police and are not armed. Only the criminal investigations police have handguns
23:58 Those are 生煎包 (Shen Jian Bao) - aka little baos with juicy meat filling grilled on one side. Popular there along with the famous *Xiao Long Bao* - similar steamed juicy meat filled dumplings, specialty of Shanghai.
24:51 Chinese dessert of Roasted snow pear with dates (yes!), snow fungus , goji berries, and lemon. Chinese white/snow pear or Asian pear (雪梨)are more crunchy and light than western Packham pears. This dessert has ingredients to ''moisten'' your lungs, sooth your throat and reduce coughing which happens a lot during flu season.
Ah thank you so much for sharing! Now we want to go back and try them haha ☺️
Hi guys, thanks for the wonderful video of Shanghai China. Take care and stay safe.
Shanghai is so cool Linda 😊
Thank you for this wonderful video. Can't wait to go and visit Shanghai!
Have fun! 🤩
Welcome to travel to China! Welcome to book your itinerary with me!
I came across some of your videos last and saw another one today. They were great, I've been to Shanghai and Shenzhen and I had a great time and yes Shanghai is very big and vibrant and it is clean. But if you travel to the outer areas you'll see another side like in all cities. Despite the politics, the people and the culture is awesome. But when you get out of the tourist areas you will see another side which isn't as glamorous and some people tend to treat foreigner's a little different. But you just brush it off and move on, yes the language barrier becomes harder. I still plan to return and yes you really can't see Shanghai in 6 days because it's so big.
We’ve had the most amazing time in Shanghai and are already planning another trip soon ☺️
@@sunkissedbucketlist Yeah, I can’t wait to return to Shanghai, plus I need to return to Taipei as well, I loved it there. Hopefully this fall 🤞

Something that we take for granted has been an eye opener for these westerners, it’s weirdly pleasant.
It’s interesting to see different perspectives ☺️
Thanks for so many compliments for Shanghai, enjoy your trip.
@anglohan5428hong kong is part of China… if it’s Tibet then understandable but Hong Kong people are Chinese
Thank you! 😃
I'm surprised China is still considered a "developing" country according to the HDI. This country seems way more developed than a lot of "developed" countries...
It's because the difference between developed and underdeveloped areas is still quite huge. There are still many people living in poverty
china's HDI is categorised as "High", which is just below "Very High" of western European countries
@@MagicalKidnot true. not living in poverty. they dont make a lot of money in USD doesnt mean they are poor. China has the strongest purchasing power parity among all country. Means with the same amount of money you get the most things in China, comparing with other country.
@@MagicalKidoh really? The US has millions of homeless people lol
@@MagicalKidit’s about avg income. China’s infrastructure is amazing. But avg income is considerably low

Thanks for the video. As I am going to Shanghai later this year your video is really helpful.
Shanghai was bloody amazing. But you also need to also check out Beijing (the ring city - the 7th ring is 1,000km to circumnavigate - the 1st ring is the Forbidden City, a tourist attraction with modern day Chinese dressing up in ancient attire) and Suzhou (Chin'a Venice, a 2,500 year old modern city with canals and bridges zig-zaging everywhere). It is so true. China is NOT what we've been lied to back home. People need to visit China to see the REAL China. The most futuristic country in the World (and I've been to many countries).
We would love to visit Beijing 😊

We were there on 5th November and saw most of the places you visited. A lot less people than when we visited in 2019, but again so much more new buildings. We saw the old (a provincial governor's palace) to the new Shikumen architectural complex. Still a great place to visit with great food, friendly locals, safe and clean (we saw no litter, no tagging). If you visit on the weekends or holidays you will be swamped with people.
Absolutely! Glad you also enjoyed 😀
What a city, hey?! Love all the videos about Shanghai. Merry Christmas everyone 🎄💝🎉⛄
Happy Holidays! ☺️
thank you for the video😊love from Strasbourg.
Most of the people you see wearing uniforms on the streets are security guards, not police officers. In fact, there are relatively few police officers on the streets, except for traffic police.
Thanks
those police-looking people are guards actually. i highly recommend west nanjing road, the other side of nanjing road, very boogie and luxurious, full of fashion houses, fantastic boutiques and world class shopping malls.
Ah sounds cool! Thanks for the recommendation 😊🤩
Thanks so much for all those recommendations ☺️🤩
Some of the messages said something about surveillance, and I really laughed.
❤❤😂😂
This is the power of anti China fake news propaganda
😂可能是看太多了
@Hmong6868 能够避开监控识别的方法很容易,戴个帽子戴个口罩解决问题。那群人那么怕摄像头,多的是方法识别不了,他们为了喷而喷而已。

Thanks for the recommendation ☺️
Thank you for your vidoe. We were just there weeks ago. Go Huaihai rd as well, it's more for local and young people. 😊

Underrated Chinese cities but in reality, they have the most modern, well-planned, clean cities compared with other cities in the world with excellent transportation, wide roads, modern high-rise buildings like in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Qingdao, Fuzhou, Wuhan and Shenzhen.
Thanks for showing us footage on the ground of China and as you says its nothing like what we are told in the uk media.
The food in Shanghai is the best so I suggest researching a bit more and try as much as u can whilst there.

14:58 The plates on the handle are commercials for a wedding planner/organizer. The 2 words said "嫁娶" in ancient Chinese, which means "wedding", and is probably the company's name. At the bottom it said "一见倾心喜嫁娶", means "Love in first sight and wedded happily".

Usually it's Indian medias and Indians who are against China and Chinese progress.
Definitely pay a visit to Xintiandi, French Concession, Jing'an Temple, Nanjing WEST Road areas, locals actually are in these areas. You wont regret it! Cuz Nanjing East Road and the bund are mainly for tourists, locals wont go there unless to run some errands, most ppl you see there are tourists from other parts of China.
Thanks for sharing your recommendations ☺️
My opinion is the same. Nanjing East Road is a bit outdated and is not the choice for young people and locals in Shanghai. You can go to Jing'an Temple and walk to the largest Starbucks on Nanjing East Road. You should go to Xintiandi and Zhangyuan in the evening.@@sunkissedbucketlist

Why even try? Let the ignorant stay that way.
Thats true. Our media in the UK keeps giving us BS about China. Luckily we have people like these who show what its really like there.
Yeah, I’m not trying anymore. Been living there for decade and always go there every year after that (minus the pandemic time of 20 and 21). Leave them, people who open mind will be curious, go there, see the place by themselves and made their own opinion.
It’s great to have an open mind and to see things for yourself 😊
Thank you for sharing the best about China
We enjoyed our time 😀
Welcome people from all over the world to visit China! ! The climate in China is quite different from north to south, so you can experience different natural scenery. If you like modern cities, you can go to Shanghai and Shenzhen. If you like historical buildings and cities with rich culture, you can go to Beijing and Xi 'an. If you like natural scenery, there are more, such as Zhangjiajie and Jiuzhaigou. Come to the three northernmost provinces in China in winter. Harbin now has one of the largest ice sculpture exhibitions in the world, and there are many delicious foods and prices here.❤❤❤❤❤
Yes! Do not judge a country based on what the media tells you 👏

It's nice to see you guys having fun in China❤! But the food you choose is "exclusively for tourists", they are usually very expensive (almost double the price in normal stores, for example those potatoes costs about 6 yuan elsewhere) and not that tasty😟. Media is media 🤷🏼♀️
China is really beautiful
It’s a very interesting country to visit ☺️
Thanks for sharing. Felt like I was right there in Shanghai.
We can’t wait to head back to Shanghai 🥰
Being a German I'm fed up with the sentence " don't visit China ".
There’s many countries with travel advisory’s but it’s just that, an advisory! Of course we should use common sense but otherwise, happy travels 🤩☺️
