I lost a 1500AUD helmet in Sydney. For there was no camera and the police told me there was no way to find it. I need to clarify that China's 'Skynet' system has almost brought crime in China down to a shocking rate, in China you can't even see the police chasing the car, because the police just have to let him go and check the surveillance camera later, the surveillance does not record the voice, it does not affect normal people, in China except criminals, no one worries about the camera. The West's fear of cameras is based on media disinformation and the fact that cameras in Western countries are often operated by private security companies rather than the police, which is very different in China
@@linwoodhucse628 I studied in Canberra, Australia for 4 years. My bicycle was stolen and I was harassed by homeless people and teenagers. But most of the London cameras are concentrared in wealthy areas. China cameras are all around the cities. That's why London isn't as safe as Shanghai. East Asian countries have this culture of cameras all around the city, not just wealthy areas like westerners do.

As a Brit having lived in Shanghai for the past 28 years I really enjoy watching the reactions of foreign visitors to my (new) home city and in fact to China in general. It's an amazing country and as someone who has traveled to many countries (as a photographer) not only the Top 3 most photogenic (geographically and culturally) but definitely the safest. Not one incident in 28 years.
So glad that you have found a new home in China. 28 years is a long time to go without any incidents. But, you are a Brit, and so to us you will always look like a foreigner. As a foreigner, you are a guest in our country. Of course you know by now that Chinese greatly value hospitality. As long as you behave with normal courtesy, you will always be treated well. You are our guest, and you deserve to be treated as well as possible. BTW, after such a long time, I must assume that your putonghua must be pretty good by now. I often find Chinese speaking foreigners greeting non Chinese speaking foreigners and offering help with directions and translation and such. I hope you are doing this too. After all, you are really one of us now, haha.

Don't your country install cameras in public places? Mooncakes in China vary by region, each offering distinct flavors and fillings. Cantonese-style mooncakes, like the one from the hotel, are the most common, featuring a soft crust with sweet fillings such as lotus seed paste, red bean paste, or salted egg yolk. Some also contain mixed nuts or dried fruits. The Shanghai-style, like the one you bought, has a flakier crust and often includes savory fillings like pork, though sweet versions exist. Other notable varieties include Suzhou mooncakes, with layered pastry and mixed fillings, and the savory Yunnan ham mooncakes. Pork floss is made by stewing pork in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, and spices until tender. The cooked pork is then shredded and stir-fried or dry-fried over low heat, allowing the moisture to evaporate. This process creates a light, fluffy texture, resulting in a savory, slightly sweet meat floss often used as a topping or filling in various dishes.
So you don’t want media to mention disappearing ministers or camps with no due process? Or Peng Shuai treatment? Any answers regarding covid yet? Virtually no bad media against Chinese people or culture.
I have just finished my European trip and returned to Shanghai from your country. Welcome to Shanghai and also welcome to China. China is very large, with 300 cities and countless small towns. The cultural scenery and cuisine of each city are different from south to north and east to west. I hope you can explore more cities in China, such as Harbin, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dali, and Xinjiang, which are all great travel destinations
19:40 what you guys had was crab meat xiaolongbao (蟹粉小笼包/蟹粉小籠包) which is one of the most premium foods in Shanghai, and it's pricy for a reason, you can't compare crab meat xiaolongbao with ordinary xiaolongbao or steamed buns/dumplings.
Thank for showing how to purchase the subway ticket. Even though it's a simple procedure, but to foreigners, seeing it being performed is very helpful.
I am a local Shanghainese. In China, this way of eating fried pork chops is only available in Shanghai. The fried pork chops in Shanghai originated from Vienna before World War II, and the sauce originated from Worcestershire sauce by UK Lea & Perrins.
There are 3 national holidays week every year last 7-10 days. China New year Spring break around the week on May 1st week. Mid Autumn and national days. Avoiding travel in China during the national holidays week, very crowd and the cost higher everywhere.
The old buildings you showed on The Bund at around 0:44 are modelled on the Three Graces on Liverpool waterfront. The tallest one is a copy of the Liver building, but without the Liver birds!

There are two total different types of moon cake. Moon cake normally means Canton style moon cake (the one you got from hotel). The other is Shanghai style which more like Puff Shell skin
Moon Cake Festival - I only met one person -Vincent in Chengdu) who loved Moon Cakes in my 6 years in China. One of my clients worked at a large bakery and they produced 2 million Moon Cakes before the Festival. They are offered to family and friends as a traditional gift in beautiful presentation boxes. The truth is they are quite heavy to eat in all there many flavours. It's like gifting Christmas Puddings, a tradition, but most people don't really enjoy more than one. The freshly baked ones are lighter / tastier. Best wishes from Bangkok.
we wholeheartedly welcome well mannered, well educated nice people like you guys to come and travel our country and share our amazing tourism assets with you, have a wonderful time
I thought when I visited India was overwhelming, but all this smart phone/apps use, I would be still stuck in the airport!!! LOL! Cracking up to date vlog, the REAL China. Looking fwd to more of the same please!
Hope that you will enjoy Shanghai and perhaps, get to see other less visited areas. After all, this is a mega city in an area that is several times of London. Chong Ming Island, for eg, is a huge sanctuary for nature and rarely visited by foreign TH-camrs. Oh, 'low crime does not mean NO crime' - even in a safe country like China, it is always good to maintain a healthy dose of common sense and situational awareness.
The dipping sauce at 16:00 is actually called 辣酱油(spicy soy sauce) or Worcester sauce. From its name you can probably guess that it comes from the UK and it does, by 1900s or so. It is widely used by Shanghainese and Cantonese people for cooking and dipping.
@@SK102938 Exactly! It's not spicy at all. '辣' means spicy, and that's it, the sauce itself is not spicy AT ALL, we just call it that. They probably gave it this name just to differentiate it from other soy sauces.

Freshly baked moon cake is only seen in Shanghai, normally it’s not sweet but only with salty pork, but they did some ‘innovation’ to put some red bean mud inside, or even chocolate. However, it not traditional moon cake when we talk about mid-autumn festival.
33 million and no crime. While i couldnt even leave any bags inside my locked car with tinted windows where i live in San Francisco. Had my car windows broken 4 times last year and once this year, i wasnt even leaving anything that looked valuable. They just broke every windows they saw. Had also visited london and was told not to wear any watches or if you buy something, swap the bag with a tesco or waitrose plastic bag to avoid these thiefs😂😂. Rome was the same, paris was even worse. 😂
You are right. I live in northern China, and I also felt that WFC was like a bottle opener when I was traveling in Shanghai. In fact, locals call the three tallest buildings in Shanghai: Syringes (Shanghai WFC) Bottle openers (Jinmao Tower) Egg beaters (Shanghai Tower) lol
Actually the sauce for the pork chop is Shanghai.Worcestershire sauce,Which was originated in England and transfers to Shanghai about one hundred years ago.Virtually Shanghainese use it on pork chop exclusively.
Er, minor factual error in your introduction - Shanghai's population is around 25 million (equal to 1 Australia) at the moment and NOT 30 million. Only Chongqing (technically, a municipality) has a population exceeding 30 million (about half the UK) within China. Glad to see that you guys are enjoying yourself in China. I have been watching the China series.
Pork floss is not a certain part of the pig. It's just dried pork shredded into fibres. Also the correct way to eat the dumpling is put the whole dumpling into your mouth and you have the soup inside your mouth.
Chinese cuisines are not only cure the starving, but there are some Chinese medicinal purposes for the balance human body. So you guys eat the crab dumplings, the restaurant would also serve ginger vinegar to balance kind of cold properties of the crab because ginger is the heat properties. There are the traditional wisdom of the Chinese.
That's true... But the Golden Week celebrations were even worse 😳😳 Next time we come to China, we really would need to pay attention to the dates because we didn't expect it to be that bad haha
It's noisy and loud because the bund area is one of the the most visited areas in China and the staff must clear the mass of people away asap to avoid any incident.
Yeah! Possibly it was even busier than usual because it was the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival and we could see a lot of people watching the moon at the promenade too 👀🌝

Well, moped/motorbikes/scooters riding on the sidewalks are common in many parts of China. When I was in Hainan in 2019, the motorbikes not only ran on the sidewalks, but cross the street along with pedestrians. So, it's quite challenging that you need to see ALL DIRECTIONS to make sure you're not going to be crushed over 🤣
Hello from Singapore and welcome to Shanghai, my favorite city!! For milk tea can also try 喜茶 (hey tea) and 茶颜悦色! Hey tea has a more fruity taste I think and 茶颜悦色 is more like tea. Enjoy ur stay ❤
As for desserts, I would like to point out that the traditional Chinese food culture emphasizes balance and nature, so the sweet source is often the natural source of lotus seeds or red beans. In China, there are few very sweet desserts, besides, desserts are also used to match tea, and too sweet desserts will cover the taste of tea. Therefore, Chinese people can hardly accept Western authentic sweets, while Westerners find Chinese desserts very bland😂

Good to see that you are enjoying China. It does look so modern clean safe beautiful and yet so affordable!
Amazing, I miss Shanghai !
07年去过上海、北京、杭州、南京、等玩、一转眼已经全变了、看到你俩去玩这么开心、我也很想回去中国玩😂😂😂
The one on Nanjing Road (Lao Da Fang) is unique local style. The one you got from the hotel is usual style from all over....
看了你们第一集的视频就喜欢上了🤩很期待两位后面的旅行视频
Thank you so much ❤️ It means a lot to us!
China is a beautiful, safe country!!!! Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a local Shanghainese. In China, this way of eating fried pork chops is only available in Shanghai. The fried pork chops in Shanghai originated from Vienna before World War II, and the sauce originated from Worcestershire sauce by UK Lea & Perrins.
Oh, wow, that's a super interesting story! Thank you so much for sharing :)
胡说八道什么呢你😢太离谱了,在伦敦的上海人不得不出来拆穿你并且表示不知道你这样假的科普居心何处
Oct 1st is the National Day of China
Yes! It’s been pretty crazy yesterday on the streets 😄😄😄 It seems like a lot of the Chinese love to travel around this period!
@@JayandKarolina 因为是有连续7天的假期
There are 3 national holidays week every year last 7-10 days.
China New year
Spring break around the week on May 1st week.
Mid Autumn and national days.
Avoiding travel in China during the national holidays week, very crowd and the cost higher everywhere.
Actually CC5Va are all over the world. London has the most !
The old buildings you showed on The Bund at around 0:44 are modelled on the Three Graces on Liverpool waterfront. The tallest one is a copy of the Liver building, but without the Liver birds!
Yes, spot on! 👍
Your video was transported to bilibili and got a lot of views❤❤❤
蟹黄包 crab roe soup dumplings vinegar with ginger slice ! not soy sause
Chagee is literally Tea Lady. It’s a franchised Boba brand. It was founded in 2017 and its headquarter is in Chengdu, Sichuan
Last month, I also traveled to Shanghai. I think Shanghai is a nice city which has lots of interesting places. Shanghai is also a safe city. I think you will like here once you come to Shanghai.
Great videos!!! Just subscribed to your channel. 👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉 Like how both of you handle and show audiences about the foods, transportation and the sightseeing spots in the videos.
Welcome!! We’re always trying to be informative but also natural in front of the camera to show what the place is really like 😍
There are two total different types of moon cake. Moon cake normally means Canton style moon cake (the one you got from hotel). The other is Shanghai style which more like Puff Shell skin
Shanghai style, no. Jiangsu style, yes.
As far as I know, Worcester souce is never spicy hot, or with soya in it.
@@SK102938 Exactly! It's not spicy at all. '辣' means spicy, and that's it, the sauce itself is not spicy AT ALL, we just call it that. They probably gave it this name just to differentiate it from other soy sauces.
Only in important festival the police (in light green) will enhance the ‘guide’, in a normal weekend it would be nice to tour that street.
The uniforms of Chinese police are dark blue or light blue, and those wearing light green uniforms are the armed police force, equivalent to the National Self Defense Force of the United States
Wow. Nice. More foreigners should visit China.
Been many times to China/Shanghai
..love it alot
..the view, the food, the people , safety and infrastructure.
Will be back with my family..... ❤🎉
Thanks for sharing. It is a full moon on the 1st and 15th day of the Lunar calendar months. The highest skyscraper you visited was three-quarters complete when I visited Shanghai in 2015. The view at the top is breathtaking. Your videography is great.
Freshly baked moon cake is only seen in Shanghai, normally it’s not sweet but only with salty pork, but they did some ‘innovation’ to put some red bean mud inside, or even chocolate. However, it not traditional moon cake when we talk about mid-autumn festival.
长沙也有
上海的月饼是苏式月饼,起源于苏州。
33 million and no crime. While i couldnt even leave any bags inside my locked car with tinted windows where i live in San Francisco. Had my car windows broken 4 times last year and once this year, i wasnt even leaving anything that looked valuable. They just broke every windows they saw. Had also visited london and was told not to wear any watches or if you buy something, swap the bag with a tesco or waitrose plastic bag to avoid these thiefs😂😂. Rome was the same, paris was even worse. 😂
23million 😊😊
犯罪率如此的西方社會是誰的責任, 誰要負責呢? 事實上是沒有人會負責. 今後會改善嗎? 相信也沒人有信心,
Well said Steve 👏🏼👏🏼
It’s hard to imagine a time in our lives when we’ve never experienced theft.
Meanwhile your governments would rather spend your tax money on wars, conflicts and supporting corrupt leaders.
You are right.
I live in northern China, and I also felt that WFC was like a bottle opener when I was traveling in Shanghai.
In fact, locals call the three tallest buildings in Shanghai:
Syringes (Shanghai WFC)
Bottle openers (Jinmao Tower)
Egg beaters (Shanghai Tower)
lol
Another amazing video thanks so much for your content. I feel like I am enjoying your travels with you
Awesome! We're so glad to hear that! :) Thank you!
I’ve been to London last year, and I think London is very similar to Shanghai in many ways
The subway can enable QR code scanning, so there's no need to buy physical tickets.🥰
incredible video
Hope you both all enjoying china
Nice views, informative, useful tips for first timers. Thanks for sharing.
Actually the sauce for the pork chop is Shanghai.Worcestershire sauce,Which was originated in England and transfers to Shanghai about one hundred years ago.Virtually Shanghainese use it on pork chop exclusively.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Er, minor factual error in your introduction - Shanghai's population is around 25 million (equal to 1 Australia) at the moment and NOT 30 million. Only Chongqing (technically, a municipality) has a population exceeding 30 million (about half the UK) within China.
Glad to see that you guys are enjoying yourself in China. I have been watching the China series.
LOL, I can tell that Karolina was pretty nervous when she passed the ferry security check with her hands up.
@18:40, how did Jay manage to get his soup squirt perfectly into his bowl at a 35 degree angle? Impressed!
Really nice! Great! Thanks for sharing!
So your next trip would be to Hongkong/Shenzhen/Guangzhou/Foshan/Macao areas. Again, that is very different from Shanghai area. Try it.
Sounds great! We actually went next to Chongqing and then the route down the South as you recommended! :)
So this is where you've vanished too !! Used to watch your delivery videos and these randomly came up 😱😱
你们是会玩的也是会吃的,豫园的小笼包和沈大成的点心(粽子和月饼之类的)都算正宗上海小吃
We in Malaysia Love China n love you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Pork floss is not a certain part of the pig.
Mid-Autumn Festival is a public holiday in China and all the attractions are super crowded!!
That's true... But the Golden Week celebrations were even worse 😳😳 Next time we come to China, we really would need to pay attention to the dates because we didn't expect it to be that bad haha
I am visiting this winter and can’t wait. Thank you for such an informative video.
You’re so welcome! Happy travels ❤️
It's noisy and loud because the bund area is one of the the most visited areas in China and the staff must clear the mass of people away asap to avoid any incident.
Yeah! Possibly it was even busier than usual because it was the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival and we could see a lot of people watching the moon at the promenade too 👀🌝
thanks for sharing ! well done !!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for your introduction of this city with us! Very prosperous city of China ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! We really loved Shanghai!!!
So fascinating🎉🤩 Thank you guys! Have fun🎉🎉
Thanks for watching! We're staying in China for a little longer so we can't wait to see how the future travels will go! Many more videos coming your way! :)
cha ji is now the most popular milk tea in China, because its ingredients are very healthy, but it is not so sweet, but the Chinese people are now pursuing health
Absolutely stunning Shanghai, couldn't believe how beautiful and modern the city really is!
Couldn't agree more!
Hurry up! Looking forward to coming to Hangzhou!
In traditional Chinese, 姬(Ji/Gee) more likely means princess/your highness. Nowadays in the general way, it indicates young ladies.
I was in Nanjing Road and the Bund yesterday, we probably just passed by each other.
Very beautiful China from Pakistan
What an amazing place wow great video jay and Karolina thank you 💕
Hi Jay, you looks so similar with the guy from Channel Gig Hustle!
I’m a Chinese and based in Nottingham, been following Gig Hustle for a bit of time. Or, you own the both channels?😂
You've found me haha. I am Gig Hustle 😂 So interesting that you found me through a video in China!
@@JayandKarolina it really is ! How magical 😂 Should recommend some Chinese restaurants back in Notts.
Enjoy your time in China ! Expect more wonderful videos.
I’ve been to Shanghai so many times the attractions never fail to disappoint!
Well, moped/motorbikes/scooters riding on the sidewalks are common in many parts of China. When I was in Hainan in 2019, the motorbikes not only ran on the sidewalks, but cross the street along with pedestrians. So, it's quite challenging that you need to see ALL DIRECTIONS to make sure you're not going to be crushed over 🤣
Oh my god! I went to Shanghai in May, but I forgot to go each the Nanxiang buns and did not go eat the east pearl tower popsicles!!! 😭
Hello from Singapore and welcome to Shanghai, my favorite city!! For milk tea can also try 喜茶 (hey tea) and 茶颜悦色! Hey tea has a more fruity taste I think and 茶颜悦色 is more like tea. Enjoy ur stay ❤
上海有茶颜吗?
@@何先生-j3e i can't quite remember where I've had it but likely yes since it's a chain and Shanghai is a big city after all
@@何先生-j3e ooh I see. Thanks for the tip, won’t go looking for it next time I’m visiting Shanghai!
Lovely Views Amazing country 🤙
As for desserts, I would like to point out that the traditional Chinese food culture emphasizes balance and nature, so the sweet source is often the natural source of lotus seeds or red beans. In China, there are few very sweet desserts, besides, desserts are also used to match tea, and too sweet desserts will cover the taste of tea. Therefore, Chinese people can hardly accept Western authentic sweets, while Westerners find Chinese desserts very bland😂
Sweet girl and polite gentleman, welcome to shanghai. Nice prepare for the traveling, You tried the best traditional shanghai food--fried pork chop and the Xiaolong(which you called dumplings). Hoping all the best you stay in China
But for the Xiaolong we got a word: open a window(Use your front teeth to make a small incision) first and enjoy the soup in side, or if you bite it half, the soup will explode everywhere,xD
We loved exploring Shanghai and eating along the way! It was quite busy period (around the Mid-Autumn festival) but it didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves 💖💖 Thank you so much for sharing!
Can’t believe they installed a glass security shield and how the train door perfectly aligns either it. US is so behind 😮
我们的地铁很多都是无人驾驶的
I think Chongqing is the largest city in the world both by landmarks and population not Shanghai
