Hi Charlie. I just received a KH-587 that has never been used. When I took apart the carriage to check it out, I noticed 2 x 1mm springs that had broken. The spring metal is hair-thin, so I guess 60 years of atmosphere must have corroded the metal. Maybe it was stored near the coast. The springs help flip/pull the MC cams when the MC knob is turned. Do you know where I can get replacement springs? This video and your video about push-button machine advantages are awesome. I hope you can do more!

Sadly you can no longer get parts for these models, however I do know that the carriages for all the 587/8 models are functionally the same, and also Brother had a serious tendency to reuse small parts, so any old scrap punchcard carriage is likely to have springs that can be modified to fit!
