Loved this video! You are an excellent teacher! I have hand knitted for years and wanted to try a knitting machine. I found a Bond Ultimate Knitting Machine to learn on. Your explanation was far superior to any I have watched. Looking forward to see what you show next.
Thank you so much, I am happy to hear that. The Bond machines are great knitting machines. I am sure you are going to have a lot of fun on that machine 😀
Thank you for your wonderfully clear yet detailed instructions, I looked at so many videos but was still stuck. It also helps that your close shots are excellent. I have a Bond Sweater Machine I picked up second hand years ago but have never been brave enough to try.
You are very welcome, thank you. And yes it can be scary to start on a knitting machine sometimes. But it will never get less scary, so just go for it and see if you like it. Good luck! 💪🏻😀
These were licensed by Knitmaster, made in the UK by Knitmaster. Great machines! They were made between the early 50s to the late 60s, then the Japanese machines really became dominant place. Knitmaster stopped producing their own and just used their name on Silver Seiko (Silver Reed) machines.
Yeah, great machines indeed, love these 🥳 Isn’t it intriguing how knitting machines evolved and how brands in different countries put their names on all kind of machines. It’s fascinating 😀
hey Bas! would you be able to show us how you clean your knitting machine? your videos inspired me to buy this exact one, so thank you for keeping all the knowledge about this machine alive :)
This lovely young man just dropped off a version of this machine yesterday. We used to sell machines in the 80’s not this model, but the Knittax was my mom’s first machine. This new arrival is quite dusty, so wonder about cleaning it properly. All the needles are in excellent shape. I’m guessing sewing machine oil is a start. I don’t know how the carriage can be removed for cleaning and the row counter seems unresponsive. Thanks so much for the videos, much appreciated. I’m delighted to find you.
@@stephaniegrace8623 I managed to find a manual in Dutch that specifies how to clean it! What I end up doing is taking of the carriage by removing one of the bolts on the right or left side (on the plate under the carriage when it is completely to the left or right, so just move it a bit) Then unscrew the small screws that keep the number plate there. Next open up one side by removing the 3 screws inside. Then the needles, then the sinkers. Sinkers are A PAIN. Removing is pushing the spring upwards and then pressing the sinker a bit to the left and right. Assembly is following the steps opposite order. Hope this helps. Yes, the manual is as vague as this..
Thank you, I made a note of it and if I ever have some extra time, I will see what I can do. Hopefully 😀 What you discussed below, is correct by the way. That is the way to clean the machine 👍🏻
Thank you very much for this video, it’s clear’ the quality is great and you cover the basics! I wish I had it 12 years ago when I first started with the knittax machine from my grandmother. Your video is like a refresher course 😊
Discovered a knittax m2 while cleaning out the attic in the chalet of my husband’s family in Switzerland. It was purchased in 1954. I was soooo excited to find these videos! I’m a hand knitter but super excited to try out this machine which seems identical to the one you are using.
@@hannyhoekman6825 Ik weet niet of ik je goed begrijp, maar als je steken te los zijn, moet je een strakkere spanning instellen. Dan worden je steken strakker. De draaiknop bovenop op een lager nummer draaien. Succes!
As someone who knows how to hand knit and machine knit, I wanted to say, ‘Well done’. This will be useful to so many trying to make sense of their own machines. Both the video and instructions are very clear. Good job. I’m subscribing just to enjoy your presentations. 😊
Hi Bas, thank You so much for your effort in making this video. I have two of these machines one of them with a ribber. Now I finally know how to work correctly with them. I like those old simple machines and find it very sad, that there is only few interest in using them. I like them from an aesthetic point of view. I tried but couldn’t find out how to use them correctly. Thank You so much for showing me.greetings from Germany .Kirsten
I've never liked knitting with needles, so someone suggested a knitting machine. Thank you for the demonstration. It does look like something I could do. 😊
This is a very good tutorial video, very well presented with cler instructions. I hce 2 of these machines, a M2 and a Knitmaster 4500 which is the same. I hope you will continue making videos for this machine, and if you do not mind, a maintenance/refurbishing one would be great! Thank you
Thank you so much, I am happy to hear that! Request about maintenance is noted 👍🏻 although I am working on some other projects first.. more to come.. 😜
Super!
I have the knit star version….love the technology in this machine. The sinkers work extremely well and considering its age, it works so much better than machines I have used with overhead tensioners
This was excellent, I have a Knit king 4500. I love this machine, it's simple and very fun to use. I would like to know more about yarns and tensions. I subscribed too. Looking forward to more knitting information.
Thank you! Request about yarn and tension is noted 👍🏻 although I am working on some other projects first 😜 These machines are so much fun to knit on, totally agree with you!
Du bist ein großartiger Lehrer für das Vorgehen mit der Strickmaschine! Ich haber gerade eine Strickfee 2 geschenkt bekommen. Sie scheint baugleich mit der M2 zu sein!
How I enjoyed this! I knitted a lot on such a machine that I bought from an old lady many years ago. Unfortunately it was stored a place where mice chewed at it, so it was ruined. The mice actually chewed the plastic sinkers! I wish it could be fixed as it is still in the attic. I just sold a newer machine because it was not good for my shoulders and neck
You’re a great instructor!❤ I am looking to up my game with my LK150. Hoping you’ll release plenty of videos and will get loads of views and followers. Hugs from Provence 🎉
Very nice tutorial. Maybe now I'll try the used knitting machine a friend gave me. But she was told it drops stitches, and I didn't want frustration, so haven't tried it yet.

Thank you so much. These knitting machines are vintage and are not produced any more. You can find them in second hand stores and online on second hand sites. Good luck! 😀
This is the exact same one that I have ! So far I have made rectangles and decreases, next are increases and then a garment 😎 Although when I set mine on the table the needles tend to slide to the back, is this normal ?
Cool! Before you know it, you will be knitting garments like a breeze 😜 The needles should stay in place. Sounds like a worn out needle retainer thread. You can unscrew the machine and replace it, or you can just leave it. The machine will still knit beautifully 😀
Great video! But I get really frustrated with these knitting videos, because what's the point of watching them if those machines are almost if not impossible to find.
Idk about you, but I watch just to be able to watch somebody else use it. I can’t afford half of the knitting equipment that I see on YT, but I like watching others
