I once commented exactly this CD with the words: The "yearly" Nightwish-album comes this time from "Visions Of Atlantis" - Just to correct myself in the next sentence, that this is meant as a big, big compliment. VoA has done this, what I'm missing a bit from Nightwish. Great Melodies, new build ups, singing together - having fun ... I don't think Nightwish is not having fun, but somehow their melodies are so complicated lately. VoA is "easier" (also meant as a compliment) ... Anyhow, noticed the rolling-r from Clementine in the 2nd verse? and Michele trying to accomplish this sharpness? You're right, both are great singers - lately Nightwish lost their male singer counterpart (Marco left the band). As good and fantastic Floor Jansen is - Nightwish lost a bit of it's soul. But ... this is VoA and they're doing more than well. The whole CD is full of melodies, riffs, stories, adventures, and and and ... and you're right: It gives a bit "Pirates Of The Carribean" - vibes :)
VoA sounds at least as good live: VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - Pirates Will Return (Official Live Video) | Napalm Records FunFact: In 2019, an audio engineer told the band that there was still something missing in their music. Clementine asked what it is. Then he wrote them this song. Since then he is there third songwriter and producer. The pirate-like is the hallmark of the band.
Oh my darlin', oh my darlin', oh my darlin' Clementine.... 🥰 Yes, indeed VoA is fantastic. Might be my second favorite after Nightwish. It's definitely a tight race between VoA and Sirenia for me!
Long live the Pirate Republic!
I just discovered them only recently, but they have a long history. I like them, always remembering me of NW a bit.

"Cutthroat island" movie vibes 😊...
We still don't know what the importance of the island is. What's on the island?

Avantasia and Ad Infinitum are my 2 behind Nightwish... though this and Epica may be making a move
I quite like this band 🙃
Michele is not Jesus is the Guardian Angel of Clementine. Listen Visions of atlantis live with Orchestra Pirates will return.
