Thanks for the video. This convinced me to pay $655 for the dealership to replace the plugs rather than do the job myself. (I can devote my energy to finish painting our house instead.)
I am 62 and I have worked on various cars over my life from replacing water pumps, lifters, rings, air conditioning compressors, timing belts, alternators, brakes, shocks, drive-axles, radiators, catalytic converters, etc..
It seems that Jeep made changing spark plugs WAY more complicated than it should be -luckily spark plugs maintenance, as I understand, is recommended at 100,000 miles.
Also, your video reminds me to "look for before I leap" when thinking about buying another vehicle.

A little tip. Save some time and just remove the brackets on the driver side of the motor that are preventing you from removing the intake manifold. The front bracket under the throttle body only has two bolts, just remove it. The other bracket further back has two bolts. Just loosen them enough to lean the bracket out of the way, and the manifold will come right off. Just did this today.

Dude this is ridiculous work to get into the spark plugs what in the world😂, I’m gonna end up having to do this to my Jeep gladiator but Jesus Christ wtf are the manufacturers thinkin? Oh let me guess! Don’t give the average at home car worker an easy day and scare them into a dealership mechanic to overcharge them , I’m guessing over 1K for a simple spark plug tune up . I can’t imagine what they would charge for an oil change , spark plug, Tran fluid, tire alignment, and AC system. Easily over 4K in California. Thank you for the informative video your a godsend✌️

One reason I like the 3.8 better than the 3.6 on the JKs, I have both, well 3, a JLU too. I like the 3.8 single coil too, like a distributor cap, one coil for all plugs, and $80 to replace, for ALL The plugs. All these new motors are a huge pain to change the passenger side spark plugs. The other reason is the stupid oil filter housing and that needing replacement 1-2X on just about every Pentastar. If I could have found a low mileage 2006/4.0 with a decent frame, I would have gotten that instead.

Great video, great instruction. Thank you for taking the time to make it. FIAT (some call it Jeep, Jeep died a long long time ago) sucks azz. The design of this enging is totally, completely, without question, F'd up. To have to remove, pretty much the entire top tier of this engine to replace 3 plugs and/or coil packs is INSANE. Since 1983, I have owned 4 Jeeps (real Jeeps, not FIAT's). This is a perfect example as to why FIAT has lost it's customer base. You should NEVER have to conduct moderate surgery to replace plugs and coil packs. This video has decided for me, I will not purchase a new FIAT. Thank you for posting.

They say change your plugs when it comes time to change a leaking oil filter housing, but mine went at 42k, so didn’t do my plugs, wish I did, but it was a warranty fix, so they would have probably charged me $550 to do the plugs, although 90% of the work was done for the oil filter housing.

@@kellie9274 yes it was … I didn’t realize it until I got the bill and looked on TH-cam on how it is done. When I originally asked the service advisor what was needed at the 100k service he said they had to take off a lot of stuff to access the plugs, I figured it was way above my ability. One guy on TH-cam said his Son that has limited mechanical skills did theirs in 3 hours. Plus when I looked up what the prices they charged for parts and found out they charged THREE times the amount I could have bought them at the store.

I've been changing Spark Plugs for 30 years across multiple platforms, many times... This Jeep JK Plug swap "IS" the the most intensively "Stupit" and complicated spark plug replacement I've ever seen. My 03' TJ spark-plug change so easy and strait forward... This JK Wranger is a Poor, Poorly designed excuse of a design as I might have every seen regarding the subject. Not even a tightest Japanese "Transverse" engined vehicle could ever be dreamed up being designed/packed into this kind of "Stupid-ness" that Mopar has. You'd have to try and make things this dumbly complicated. Udder FAIL Mopar. And I'm sad to say this but I am a Huge Jeep fan and have owned 3...
