    Thanks for talking on this! My main issue since going CG was my scalp, it was so dry and flakey but wasn't traditional dandruff and everything I did to try and help treat dry scalp and product buildup didn't do anything. Recently with all the Devacurl issues that have been coming out I realized the whole issue may be the Devacurl shampoo I was using >.< I was using the loo poo and the buildup buster pretty consistently and my scalp would just get worse. I've cut out all Devacurl now and I am hoping my scalp will start to get better xo

    What I love is that some of the brands you recommend do samples so you can spend less on a better product to try them out. Mop top does samples, bounce curl does trial sizes and Jessie curl does a sample pack for free all you pay is 4$ for shipping.

      Yes, samples are so great. Since I published this video even more brands have started offering samples.

    I have fine hair that’s around a 3b curl and I began co-washing and avoiding silicone before I even knew it was a whole big thing (I just discovered what the “curly method” was when this deva curl issue hit my TH-cam feed 😂)... it works really well for my dry, damaged curls, but I do need a regular shampoo once in a while.
    It appears, from the stories and comments and videos I’ve seen, that most people experiencing issues with deva curl do clarify their hair on a regular basis. A lot has been said about how people just “need to wash their hair”, but I honestly don’t think that’s the problem at all.
    I used deva curl for years without issues. My hair started severely drying out and shedding maybe about 4-5 months ago. I switched to curlsmith co-wash in December and my hair is about a million times better.
    I use the same method but with a different product and my hair is nearly back to how it used to be 🤷🏻‍♀️
    I know co-wash isn’t for everyone, but I just don’t think that’s the issue here.
    Really great and informative video!! Excellent advice about clarifying when you feel everything about your hair has stopped working

      That's definitely not the only issue. There is for sure a problem with the product. But I think part of it is that they aren't water soluble so they build up quickly. I'm glad you found a line that works better for you.

    Ordered some Evolvh products! I am excited to use them! I have low porosity hair, do you have any suggestions or recommendations on how to deal with it?? I know for my type of hair (low porosity, thin, 2b/2c hair) that less is more. But my issue is the part that comes after conditioner. I have to ensure my hair is not sopping wet to put the leave in and gel otherwise product just sits on top of hair. In some reviewes i read that the evolvh products were great for fine and thin hair. What do you think would be the best way to treat hair like yours but just low porosity? I find that if i just shampoo alone (no conditioner at all) my hair is more curly 🤷‍♀️ but they appear dry.

      @HolisticEnchilada  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Be sure to squeeze out water before applying the styling products of you want to avoid sopping wet. But I'd emulsify the styler in wet hands first because it needs water to spread easily.

    • @HolisticEnchilada
      @HolisticEnchilada  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And you could try just using conditioner on your ends and skipping the leave in

    I had no idea about the Diva Curl products. I only use the Diva Curl lite gel but is that bad too? If so, is there a drugstore gel that is good?

    I have transitioned my hair for two years. I’m doing the big chop this week. What do you recommend for 4 type hair?

    • @HolisticEnchilada
      @HolisticEnchilada  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't have a lot of experience with type 4 hair so I can't say. But the methods and ideas are the same. How often you do things like deep condition and cleanse will differ.

    So what ingredients are moisturising and what ingredients have protein? Especially moisturising. I'm just so tired of not knowing and seems my hair just keeps getting worse 🙁

    • @HolisticEnchilada
      @HolisticEnchilada  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moisturizing ingredients are oils, butters, and fatty alcohols (cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, behenyl alcohol, arachidyl alcohol and myristyl alcohol). Proteins will say hydrolyzed or protein in the ingredients. Examples include hydrolyzed wheat protein, rice protein, amino acids, collagen, keratin). I have a post about proteins that might help holisticenchilada.com/rice-water-rinse-for-curly-hair-protein-treatment/

      I’ve been using curlsmith for a couple months now and I really do love it... I use their co-wash, the intensive hair serum and the density elixir.
      My hair seems to love it. A great change after deva curl.
