My hair is thinner and I can't use as much styling product as I see in others use in their videos too! Glad to see someone else with similar hair / issues. And diluting product with a lot of water works better with my thin wavy hair too.

I mix the Ecoslay jell-o-shot with home made flaxseed gel. A 50/50 mix. 💗.

I think glycerin in hot humid California weather is making my ringlets flat and unruly....I noticed u mentioned evolv....it has glycerin, ok?
For things you rinse out it doesn't matter. I rarely use leave in and this one does have glycerin BUT I needed something moisturizing to balance out the dryness of the gel and layering this hard hold gel over works great. Typically you just need a glycerin (humectant) free styler as your final product.

You don't find that the SmartCurl Leave in is too heavy for fine curls? I noticed it has shea and coconut butters as some of the top ingredients.
Do you have any tips for letting hair dry/styling it if I hate having hair in my face? I usually pin the pieces around my face back while it's still wet.
Not really. I don't cut the hair around my face too short so that I can keep it out of my face. I used to pin it back with bobby pins when it was shorter. You can try finger coiling or brush styling it away from the face.
If you were in the shower and not film in the tub, would you do all the shampooing, conditioner and styling products with your hair hanging down?
Shampoo and condition upright, then I flip for leave in and stylers.

When new to curly girl how often should you wash with shampoo?
As often as you need to.
I notice you don’t use a brush to style your curls. Did you ever?
I don't. Brush styling leaves me without any volume because it defines and clumps too much.
I've always heard that you shouldn't wash your hair every single day, especially for curlies. But I try to workout every day and I am a huge sweater and my hair gets really greasy. So I end up washing it. Any suggestions for this?
Just wash it every day, but don't use a strong shampoo daily. I would alternate cowashing and shampoo to be safe. This way you're not stripping your hair every wash.
Hi! Hoping someone can offer some suggestions! I am very new to all of this and have not had one successful hair day since beginning. I have very fine curls and need lots of volume. When I diffuse, the cowlick I have at my crown causes my hair to lay, push forward (towards my forehead) and flat against my scalp. I’ve literally tried everything to fix this issue but nothing works. When I flat ironed my hair, I could back comb a little which worked fine but that obviously doesn’t work when wearing my hair curly. I’m so beyond frustrated!
Do you style upside down? I find that makes my hair go towards my forehead. I have to style right side up with a brush. For my cowlick I used to clip it into a better position (while wet) but with my hair longer it lays fine on its own now. I just make sure to brush all the hair on top of my head up and back so that it falls down where I want it.
