I’ve been working on a “every controller for the Switch” video project off and on for the past year...but...I NEVER thought to put anything but a Joy-Con on the Ring-Con. You’re a genius!
That’s kinda cool, the Famicom controllers are recognized as “HVC controller”. HVC being the code used for the NES/FAMICOM, and stands for Home Video Console.
Something I would definitely try: Famicom expansion port to NES controller adapter --> attach an 8bitdo NES Retro Receiver --> test Bluetooth connectivity of these controllers on the original Famicom
@@burgerinabox6063 Unfortunately, even if that registered as a command for ROB, it definitely wouldn't have the information necessary to send multiple inputs. (Besides, I don't think it's realistic to expect somebody to get this thing to communicate with a 2018 fighting game running on a modern flatscreen TV...)
Funnily enough I just played through Zelda 1 on the Famicom app and the pol's voice are so hard to kill on the Famicom version bc they want you to use the mic! Really makes me wish I had these controllers... 😭
I have the common Revision 1, which changed the B and A buttons and revised the console hardware. I actually had transplanted parts from two different units 'cause I had the smart idea of using an NES AC Adaptor with my initial unit...and I killed it.
4:24 i realllly wish you went into depth about the ring con compatibility. I'm guessing the controller just refuses to connect wirelessly when ring con adventure is being played, but the device has everything a joycon has internally except rumble and motion controls...
Didn’t even know you could pair retro switch controllers to the iPad without a dongle. Excellent video. My Bluetooth recognized it immediately. For anyone reading this; the sync button disconnects and turns off the controller.
I doubt anyone will answer, but I went to Japan and brought these back to the U.S. I am wondering if I can safely charge then in the US with the voltage difference.
I'm curious does the mic actually output to the TV or Is there some crazy audio capture trickery here? because this could be a way to record voice for switch video recordings as useless as that sounds
Hello helloooo akfamily home I am glad you are doing well really enjoying your videos a lot awesome videos as always hope you have a good day can't wait for new videos go akfamily home go.😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸
2:15 that microphone is actually amazing quality, and considering that was from 40 years ago, holy shit. While at 2:54, yeah it’s just meant for noise detection, but man, that’s such a downgrade.
Imagine going into a Smash tourney and your opponent is using a ROB
But they're not playing AS rob, they're playing ON an ROB minifig.
@@nukiradio that's the joke
Someome's gonna do it only because of this video, *I can feel it*

That ROB part was suprisingly funny
Famicom color scheme appreciation gang rise up
Ayy
Game & Watch color scheme appreciation too
You got me
*manifests into existence*
Big part of why I got them
put the nes joycon on the right and the famicom joycon on the left
Something I would definitely try: Famicom expansion port to NES controller adapter --> attach an 8bitdo NES Retro Receiver --> test Bluetooth connectivity of these controllers on the original Famicom
The last part was intresting .... What's next? Playing Wii Fit Trainer with the balance board? Or Melee with the Ring Con?
You have no idea how badly I wanna see that Famicom Mario 64 stream.
That last part was amazing, great video.
Out of curiosity did you still use Gyromite's direct mode for that ROB scene? Or did you use something else?
it was probably the flash from the “GO” text that made ROB do that. real bummer if he did use gyromite direct mode though...
@@burgerinabox6063 he said rob only works on CRT

@@Platitudinous9000 makes sense... still a great joke that really peaked my curiosity on how ROB works.
@@Platitudinous9000 ROBbed me of joy
That was a good ass bit at the end
It probably doesn't work, but it'd be cool if the mic worked with the Japanese Joysound karaoke game.
Well you’ll need a usb mic for that to work
I wish you could buy both the NES and Famicom colors in any region.

That Mario 64 stream does sound like a pretty fun idea
Yeah it is.
Can you play the entirety of Rhythm Heaven Fever with the Famicom Controller?
I wonder what color the menu will be if you have an NES controller attached to one side of the switch and the Famicom one on the other.
4:24 i realllly wish you went into depth about the ring con compatibility. I'm guessing the controller just refuses to connect wirelessly when ring con adventure is being played, but the device has everything a joycon has internally except rumble and motion controls...
The SNES Online controllers are so nice! I love the SNES redesign on the app.
They're out of stock, I wanted them, I can't get them
Edit: I got it, a while ago actually
Same dude
Same
Kinda neat they gave the mic some functionality
The ending really brings a smile to my face!
Didn’t even know you could pair retro switch controllers to the iPad without a dongle. Excellent video. My Bluetooth recognized it immediately. For anyone reading this; the sync button disconnects and turns off the controller.
Finally...
The direct connection from the Switch to R.O.B.
I want those famicom controllers so bad, but everybody on ebay charges them for so much money
Just revisited Japan recently and bought these at the Nintendo store, pretty cool to know there are actually other things it can do, thanks
just got these today, having a blast they are so cool!
You’re probably the first one to use a rob to play smash. Nice things of interest video!
So even playing the US Zelda version the Mic works?
Cool!
I love how the 2nd controller still has a microphone.
My favorite thing is that you can yell at the Pols Voice.
To use voice shouts in Legend of Zelda you need the Japanese NSO Famicom version, or it works in the American NSO NES?
When on PC, how does the P2 Mic work?
I was thinking you should make a video on the rock candy wii controller. Just a suggestion.
2:54 Congrats, you gave everybody flashbacks to when they had to deal with foul-mouthed kids when playing Call of Duty on Xbox Live in the early 10s
🤣🤣🤣😂 for a moment i was hoping you could actually use the joycons with the famicom via an adapter but bruh!! That was hilarious!!!
Imagine a rob v2 for the switch...
I doubt anyone will answer, but I went to Japan and brought these back to the U.S. I am wondering if I can safely charge then in the US with the voltage difference.
"Which is pretty much the case for every Nintendo controller that doesn't start with 'J'"
PRO CONTROLLER MASTER RACE.
I own a U.S. ASCIIware Turbo Pad for the Super NES...which interestingly uses the Super Famicom's color scheme as opposed to the U.S. SNES colors.
4:25 That was painful to look at. Why would you do such a thing?!
Plainrock 2.0?
Note to self: I'm going to try to figure out how to play Cookie Run with a Famicom controller now.
what is cookie run

Weird to think that the Famicom controller has a microphone on it... but not the actual Switch.
Can the Famicom controllers physically connect to the Switch in docked mode?
how did you get ROB to work without a CRT tv?
I'm curious does the mic actually output to the TV or Is there some crazy audio capture trickery here?
because this could be a way to record voice for switch video recordings as useless as that sounds
I assume he just connected it to his pc, opened a recording app, such as audacity, then selected the device as the microphone
1:30 how did you get rid of the dotted borders???
Does thisbuse batteries?
I love that thumbnail :p
Can you use the left one attached to the rail, with a normal joycon on the right to have a usable d-pad?
finally! a joycon with built in mic, the switch 2 is real
It’s a controller from 3 years ago 😅
Have you tried using them in the SNES app?
He's back!
Hold up. The Famicom only had Start and Select buttons for Player 1?
No they didn't have it in any.
I guess you could say you're a..... FANicom?
Ok, I'll be leaving now.
Sweet how Japanese hardware still has special features in the American version, even though you shouldn't have it
Turkey noise 3:08
Use the Famicom controllers with Super Mario Bros Wonder.
2:14 have you ever tried the Wii U gamepad in any way possible?
So these controllers come with all those or something else?
I HIGHLY doubt that these things will work for super mario 3D world + Bowsers fury...
LMAO the ROB part
6:25 hahahahahaha punny😂
Oh hey I have the same charging platform
How did you get R.O.B. to do that?
Your name looks like a Wi-Fi network
You're not wrong...
I wonder if anyone's tried to speed run Mario 64 with those controllers
Famicon colors look way better than the American ones
5:54-6:29 HOW!? THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!
Edit: wait what bad controller starts with J?

Famicom so different changes name to NES
Aight then.
Why did the Famicom have a mic only for the second and not the first controller?
So weird
I don’t think these controllers art TOI’s
