    ON LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
As I continue to work to be a better person, I want to make sure the work and creative projects I make are never at the expense of others. The places I visit and the experiences I have, ESPECIALLY in this video, take place on unceded territory of Indigenous peoples. In solidarity with their struggle for sovereignty, I have included land acknowledgements below and within my video. But land acknowledgements aren't enough! So please check out the resources below on the Indigenous communities who lands I visited!
Tovaangar (Los Angeles basin, So. Channel Islands; UCLA)
We acknowledge the Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (Los Angeles basin, So. Channel Islands) and we are grateful to be visitors on this land. We pay our respects to Honuukvetam (Ancestors), 'Ahiihirom (Elders), and 'eyoohiinkem (our relatives/relations) past, present and emerging.

I’m so happy for you Brisa that you’re a part of a program that embraces you and that correlates with who you are as a person. I’m just as blessed with my medical program. I keep saying it wouldn’t matter if all the medical schools in the USA accepted me, I’d still choose Midwestern University. I have a family here and that’s saying a lot because it’s always just been my mom and I.

I LOVEEEE THIS FOR US! Like there is nothing more important than feeling safe, loved, and like you belong when you are going through an educational process. I am so happy you have a space like that in the medical field! That is super important!!!!! Thank you for sharing your experience!! And thank you for sharing such good vibes!!!!

it looks so fancy and I swear the fancy places the ones with the questionable food 😭 . like I went to a research conference at Yale and twirled my fork in my plate until the truffle cake came out 🤣

I am in the process of trying to finish my Doctorate in Business Administration, what would be the advantage or disadvantage of doing a post-doc?

This is such a great question... and honestly makes me think I should make a video to answer it. But in short I would say a postdoc does a few things 1) provides extra professional development that you may not have gotten in grad school OR just would like extra support with, 2) gives you more time to develop more competitive CV for the job market, 3) Provides networking opportunities as most are done at another institution 4) gives you space to look at your research from another perspective (like not as a dissertation or a grad but as a professional)
soooo if you feel like you would benefit from more professionalization within your field or want more time to research a post-doc may be great. HOWEVER, they are usually less money than full time jobs and focus mostly on professionalization in academic so might not be exactly what you want if you don't plan on being a full-time professor (but this is personal and could also be great even if you don't wanna be a professor).
Those are the basics of it all. I hope that helps!
