Here we are, the end of Paper Mario. Gotta say, it was nice to see each of the videos in this playthrough, even though it didn't last too long, like almost two months at least. On the other hand, at least it didn't last like a whole year lol.
Despite me not having played the game, it still was a treat to see your playthrough of this game. This game does have a simple gameplay design, with the characters attack power and defense being in the low numbers and not even reaching the 100's, unlike most RPG's, hell, even compared to the other Mario RPG's (like SMRPG and the M & L series). Still, this at the very least works in its favor as a game that introduces many people to the world of RPG's.
And I did also like the variety and creativity of the characters shown in this game, with most of the NPC's not being just Toads, and even the ones that were, at least they did end up having some differences in their appearances to help make them stand out. This would be something that would end up being retained up until Sticker Star, unfortunately. Oh well, if some of the more recent Mario games had shown us (Super Mario Oddyssey, Wonder, and Princess Peach Showtime) is that at the very least they can make a variety of characters for each of the worlds you visit, and it was pretty much a miracle that even SMRPG got a remake last year. Oh damn, we're not talking about Paper Mario anymore lol. Sorry, I often get sidetracked talking about other things.
Nevertheless, this was a fun playthrough to watch. Can't wait for when you end up playing another games like Persona 3 Reload, other Mario games, or especially for this case, the Paper Mario TTYD remake for the switch. Until then Hawlo, see ya!!

Extremely well done with this part, and now watching the ending, Though now comes invitations to everyone, and so many people are here, and now celebrate and parade time, everyone there, even Fat Shyguy, And what a way for it to end. Though now with that game complete. Now comes the sequel Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door. Keep doing amazing.

6:23 Yup. Even managed to max out my Power Bounced. I was bummed that there wasn’t a reward for doing so, but I still felt proud of myself.
As for my thoughts on this game, it was truly a treat. Before I got the game, I asked some of my classmates about it. I asked how accurate it was to the commercial for it, which showed Peach tied up and dangling over a paper shredder. They told me that, despite the name, it’s not about paper, but rather only looking like a pop-up book come to life, and I believe it.
The parts where they take advantage of the “paper” part is merely for comedic effect; Mario falling off the veranda in the Prologue, taking a nap, or some NPCs going flat standing up to hide. It never became the focus like the last 3 games did, and I’m glad for that. It makes me feel like this game could’ve been called something else (like Mario Story), and nobody would care.
Being my first Mario RPG, this game was basically “What if a Mario game had a story?” First level was a grassy level, Second one was a desert level. It never forgot its roots, but it threw in some twists too. A toy box… and that’s about it. Everything else was familiar enough not to alienate newcomers that were still Mario fans.
The idea to have Mario enemies as companions was a stroke of genius. It felt like a subtle anti-racism message to me; not every Goomba or Koopa or Bob-omb or whatnot works for Bowser. It would’ve been easy to have everyone go the Lakilester route and be bad guys that joined Mario after losing to him, but nope! They all have their reasons for joining up, and most are pretty unique. And the introduction of new characters was also neat. The Mer-Family (as I call them) were nice, and the flower folk in Flower Fields.
But the best part of the originality was the abundance of variety in Toad designs! You got the standard red spot, blue vest combo, but some had hair, some with different hair styles, some with mustaches, some with wrinkles, all with different colors, and some with unique names & clothing! Sure, most of the prominent ones were puns on words that end with “ty” (Tayce T. = Tasty, Russ T. = Rusty), but I’ll gladly take these over the lack of originality the last 3 games were rightfully mocked for, even if they tried to mock themselves in Origami King.
The battle system is simple, but I feel like it needs to be. Part of the reason Super Mario RPG got its on-the-nose name was because players never associated Mario with role-playing games until then. So, to make an RPG as simplistic as this was sure to ease in newcomers to the genre, and not making it feel like they wasted their money nor their time. However, being the first game, it made sense that the sequel improved on its battle mechanics in a way I prefer. Let me put it this way; If this game ended up getting the remake instead of Thousand Year Door, and that had their battle mechanics (Super Guard & Partners able to use items), it might’ve been the perfect Paper Mario game for me. As it stands, what keeps this game fond for me is mostly the story, as it’s a bit better than its sequel, but just barely.
A fun trip down memory lane before another trip with TTYD’s Switch remake. Looking forward to when that happens.

0:48 How is the gang doing?
    1:58 Looks like Kooper & Bombette R a thing now.🥰
    2:41 Kooper's with Kolorado's expedition.
    4:17 O that Kolorado.😅🤣😂
5:44 I wonder what Luigi's top secret mission is?
I think Luigi's wish was 2 B in his own series of games & that wish was granted.🙂
15:36 We all know that Bowser will never change his ways.
19:45 Once we enter the party, the game's truly over.
    Luigi's leading the parade.😁
Looks like Jr Troopa & Kammy R having a wizards duel.😅🤣😂
29:13 It sure was. Thanks 4 this walkthrough.😁

17:03 Why would Herringway call it "Paper Mario"? What aspect of the adventure would indicate to the reader that paper is involved in any way? Plus, isn't the paper aesthetic, just a constant truth in this world? The norm, not the exception? Are you all made out of paper? If so, why delineate the material that everyone's made out of? Why not just call it "Mario Sto-"? Ohhh, wait. That's right. But if you guys weren't made out of paper, would he call it "Flesh Mario"? Are books made out of flesh in this world, then?
21:16 A Mario RPG where the credits begin with Luigi, who hasn't been playable in the game, leading a parade? Oh, yeah. Totally haven't seen *that* before!
22:32 Bob-ombs with hands. Top 30 cursed things you can't unsee.
Despite all the (playful) criticisms I gave to this game (that were mostly copied from Charriii5), I still personally enjoyed this game. In fact, I'd say it's gameplay is something that feels more balanced in comparison to that of its sequel known as TTYD. I feel like it's more balanced due to the BP being hard-capped at 30, as mentioned before. The partners themselves, meanwhile, feel more like abilities than actual characters, which TTYD decised to improve upon at the cost of difficulty (though there were some story beats of TTYD that didn't sit right with me which I'll probably point out when getting there).
Thanks for yet another walkthrough again, Hawlo.

17:03 This! This, right here, is what the last 3 games in the series has *_poisoned_* viewers into believing about this game (and the two next ones), but let me set the record straight; In the first three Paper Mario games, these people *ARE NOT PAPER!!!* When Mario stepped on a fire bar, he wasn’t burnt to ashes! When Mario dipped in water, he wasn’t soggy! The “paper” parts were used in comedic ways, not actual ways. In the beginning of the game, Mario fell of the castle as if he was solid. In the Prologue, when Mario fell off the veranda, he fell like a piece of paper. But that was just comedy! Mario never went flat on the ground to dodge multiple oncoming attacks from Bullet Bills, because he can’t do that in a serious situation! The reason it’s called “Paper Mario” is because it’s as if a pop-up book came to life. It’s why the intro shows Kammy literally taped onto the story. However, Nintendo ran with it and just made Mario more and more “papery” as the sequels went on, until he was literally paper, as of Sticker Star.
Still… “Paper Mario” does feel a bit odd for a story title.
22:32 They don’t have hands. They’re lifting up the Koopa Bros’ hands.
