It was disappointing when I first found out the partners from the previous Paper Mario were originally going to make cameos. Thankfully, this feels accurate as to how the characters would speak postgame, ignoring one or two spelling errors.

This was brilliant. This is exactly how each of their personalities would shine if they actually appeared. (Funny enough this actually manage to give Watt a personality since she lacked one in 64) Goombario and Sushie had the best lines though. Goombario's snarky comment about all Goomba's intelligence and then shuns Goombella, harsh, but funny. The Spines being "Pipes" comment was the best line. And Sushie's comment on the Yoshi kids being angsty teenagers just feels so accurate. Then of course there's the lovely Lady Bow (I know she's already in TTYD, but still)

One of the troubles in the trouble center has a Goomba who wants to find love. Have Goombella out when you talk to him, and he'll fall for her, only to get rejected. He runs off, dropping a special cake that restores HP, but "you can't eat it alone".
All of this new text feels pretty authentic and detailed, and Suhie's mention of the Yoshi Kid mood swings fits in well with the Goombario's Quest animated series by Eastbeastfilms. I look forward to seeing a whole new Paper Mario game, made out of the existing code from PM64 & TTYD, and that possibilty is only getting closer! The only thing that feels off here is that a couple of the PM64 idle animations are a bit too fast, namely Goombario & Kooper. (And Watt lacking a shadow)
Watt lacking a shadow makes sense, since she MAKES light, y'know. All of that is on IS's behalf, anyway. I only used what was already there in the game, and wrote new dialogue.
That's fine, I guess. It's great to finally see a video of those unused PM64 Partner character animations put together, rather than see them only static and unassembled on the spriters' resource.
I'd love to see someone make a 2-in-1 mod in the TTYD engine, where TTYD's story unlocks once you finish 64 but you can travel back and forth between Rogueport and Toad Town ports (and some sidequests would require doing so).
That pipe part with Goombario was pretty clever, I gotta admit Also Newer DS will be complete in due time, remember, Skawo's a human like us who needs to do human things, probably. (he/she took 2 paid days off to work on this for us, at least show some appreciation)

Being told that they can’t make original characters and that Bowser MUST be the main villain is just plain stupid. So it’s okay when Mario odyssey adds new, never before seen characters and species into its game. But Paper Mario isn’t allowed to have a Goomba stick out by having different colored shoes and a purple hat? You also gotta love how they said that for Origami King that it’s difficult to mod Mario and that you aren’t allowed to add new characters to the Mario franchise and world. Then they go and create Prince Olly, an ORIGINAL CHARACTER. You can’t do that. You can’t say it’s difficult to mod Mario and that you can’t create original characters. And then processed to have your villain be an original character while Mario is modded in the game (1,000 fold arms)

That would of been amazing if they did that, but the only characters you do see in the actual game is Bow at the end and parakarry at the beginning of the game. Still really cool to see what it would've liked liked.

It's funny, in the paper Mario universe. They have actual modern day techonolgy, like cars (i know cars are in the regular Mario universe) computers, tv's. Where the regular Mario universe only has cars, airships. And a few others

Maybe she doesn't exist in the coding? Cause all the old partners (except for Bow) are unused sprites in the code of TTYD, the guy who did this just used the unused content and made it work on a rom of the game.

Little background story behind the screwup involving the Lakitu tattle: In Japan, Spinies are referred to as Paipos, someone in Nintendo of America's localization team misread the Katakana as "pipe", and didn't realize that the text was actually referring to Spinies
I played ttyd as a kid and only got around to playing the original last year for the first time. So watching this I was CONVINCED that I had just missed all of this as a kid because I didn’t know any of the past partners. That is until I saw Watt lol But still this is really great, good work!

I like how goombella’s blunder with the pipes is canonized in this mod. It goes from a mistranslation error of “Paipo” to intended feature

Little background story behind the screwup involving the Lakitu tattle:
In Japan, Spinies are referred to as Paipos, someone in Nintendo of America's localization team misread the Katakana as "pipe", and didn't realize that the text was actually referring to Spinies

So glad I got this in my recommended after TTYD got remastered
I played ttyd as a kid and only got around to playing the original last year for the first time. So watching this I was CONVINCED that I had just missed all of this as a kid because I didn’t know any of the past partners.
That is until I saw Watt lol
But still this is really great, good work!
