The Pinky count is a great utility moves that allows you to get a break under a number of cards with just one hand. In my opinion, this is the best get ready for a double lift and it will clean up your overall card handling. It will take practice and you will need to develop hand strength to do it well, but it is worth it.

1:20 mega smooth 1 hand cut! Great vid!
If you trying to learn Pinky Count, look the position of his ring finger,
he says that other fingers doesnt matter but that's helping me a lot.
Ring finger is not touching the deck.
I did this naturally and I never release but it helped
Me too
It came naturally
Also wen u place ur thumb a bit forward it helps too
At least for me
Now I can count really well
Well done u can count , Philip lol
In all seriousness I've trained myself not to use the ring finger
The thing I find hard is the double lift
Hey watch the tutorial by the Russian genius
He has the push off dl,
Even asad has one. Try watching both. Will help a lot
Thank u
So happy to finally find a good tutorial from my POV. Thank you!
Two very key points. Very very key points. The first is the pressure with your thumb. The second is that the ring finger isn't touching the deck. Apply those two tips and you'll have this in no time.
I can't keep my ring finger away from the deck; when I'm placing pressure on the deck with my pinky finger, it simultaneously causes my ring finger to be pushed against the deck. What should I do?
@@azucar8846 It is the same for me. Did you figure out a way to make it?
@@justarandomguy1628 I now try to push my ring finger down a bit, so that it wouldn't interfere with the process. That's not an ideal solution though
@@azucar8846 Thanks, I will follow your suggestion!
@@azucar8846 yeah just put your ring finger down
If you're struggling with this, learn the classic pass, it helps a lot, the classic pass is rather difficult but it helps your dexterity and strength with your pinky
six year later. what is a classic pass?
Accidentally counts three cards with pinky count and does a triple lift
MirroredReality that would actually be more impressive than the actual trick
With me it's more like "counts 52 cards and flips the whole deck"
Honey Badger Strength & Conditioning counts the whole deck and lifts the table
@@realpadrino Well damn. That's a respectable amount of ineptitude!
Im a complete novice and have practiced this for 5 min so take my observations with a grain of salt. I think it's important to focus on applying the pressure as close to the TIP of your pinky as possible. And keeping the left edge of the deck OUTSIDE of your palm as he has. Not in your palm. Then it's easier to control your ring finger for whatever reason.
Thanks!!!
late reply but thank you
@@uno9915 No problem!
Am so glad years of piano has given me a headstart on finger strength and control
@yotamsho516 The deck need to be bent downward to do it. If the deck has been warped and naturally bend upwards then its okay because you should still be able to bend it downwards by applying the pressure I mentioned in the video.
Thanks - I have never tried to do anything specifc with my pinky before other than holding a break so this is going to take a lot of practice!
Thank you so much! I've been trying to find a decent pinky break video for ages and I saw this in a caption on another of your videos and took a chance. This is exactly what I was looking for. You're other videos are great too, so you've got yourself another subscriber.
Wow, those classic sleight learning days from the past, when 52kards really got me going with sleights and decks and everything else! :)
Anyone's pinky hurting like hell right now?
this + cardini change = hell

Thx! Best tutorial on pinky count I could find. Watched several other videos and just could not get it until watched your video.
Your tutorials are improving Asad! =) Clear, concise, and great quality!
pinky count is the best soulusion almost in all trick. and i just love your vids i've learned the most of you.
I'm still learning to get better at this but for me using less cards at first to practice definitely helps 👌
Since my hand is smaller, I use my ring finger to make it a ring finger count.😂
good idea thanks! my pinkie is too short to do this :D
Nice and clear tutorial! Good job Asad :) And the camera quality is great!
Very nice tutorial (like your others as well). One thing you don't mention is that your ring finger is actually coming off the top card to help allow the cards to lift. When I finally noticed that it made it much easier for me to do (without some crazy death-grip). Thanks for the vids.
This is the best pinky count tutorial ever
After watching this I had much success in my practice of it.
@itzzrudgenz Yeah, it is definitely easier to do with the thumb, but it isn't as hidden from te spectators point of view.
Wait how to do with thumb
now this is the kind of tutorial I will completely watch!
Love it
@iZzm3shee If you are talking about the one handed cut, I have already made the tutorial. It is called the Charlier cut and you can find it on my channel
that akward moment when you try to do this and you drop your whole deck
"you can do all of the dirty work with your left hand" 😂😂
I kinda feel mad when i first try cuz the card never pop up, but now is getting so much better. Nice tutorial
Can you please show your video setup?
- how you get that natural light.your camera and all that. Maybe a room tour? :D
@epicspart yes
Excellent and clear, as usual!
Thannk you i learn the basics in 4 minuts because of you
Yay Aristocrat deck! one of my favorites :)
Fantastic tutorial
Well done. I love this move.
You will obey me, pinkie!
all fingers disobey
Just wanted to say thank you, your tutorials are very helpfull :)
Very good Tutorial 👍🏻
This is one the most frustrating things I have ever done until I realise I have to lift up my ring finger
How do you bend your pinkie without bending the top of your ring finger?
your videos deserve much more viewers i mean much much more viewers
I find it easier to use the ring finger but that’s mainly because when I use the pinky the ring finger gets in the way.
Love our tutorials
Thank you very much!, it's really hard, i'm still trying :)
@Jim Pickens after 3 years in this journey let me tell you that we have succeed.
@Jim Pickens you'll get it in a week just keep practicing:)
@KoolKardz Asad is an Arabic name but I'm Pakistani; but I grew up in America. Confusing indeed :P
Thank you, you are just amazing with cards :-) great tutos!!! :-)
cheers for this, it's a hard move but I'm getting it, thanks, thumbs up 👍
awesome tutorial! nice job
asad I love all your tricks
I noticed my thermos in the small icon for this video, it stopped me dead in the middle of Aaron fisher card magic minute episode. I have it right next to me here on the comp desk.
I can do this easily with my right hand, but not my left hand? Do magicians usually hold the deck with their left hand? (I'm right-handed btw.)
+Creuzillion yes, right handed magicians typically hold the deck in their left hand.
Creuzillion I use my right-hand for tricks, and I'm right handed. Do whatever feels right.
Creuzillion prob more strength in your right hand's pinky
I use my left hand cause I watched tutorials and just followed along now it's just comfortable for me.
The only issue is that my left hand is the hand I use to write with. So doing the signature tricks where you have an already signed card, and use a decoy for you to sign, I cannot do at all. Since I can't consistently do my own signature with my right hand at all... Oh well.
Every magician says do whatever feels good and natural to you.

@epic in magic or cardistry, if you're left handed then you want to grip the card on your right hand, and the opposite :)
Love this move. Means I don't have to rely on the push-off double lift in every routine z
thumbs up for awesome quality
this helped me out alot
Guys, I just little bit changed the grip and i broke it down after 10 minutes!
Wow. I tried this and I ended up doing a thumb count on my first try. :)
same with me
Good job man
awesome job!!
I'd disagree that the position of the middle two fingers is insignificant. They hide the action from in front. They need to be curled in order to hide the cards flicking. Moreover, that kind of has to be trained and reinforced, because most people will naturally want to stick them out to get leverage with their pinkie.
thank you very much for your tutorials!
may i have a question? is it necessary to use new bicycle cards? i have ones, they are quite used.
this is reason why i ask: for me it is easier to do emsley count with my old bicycles. but to do sleights, counting it is better to use probably new bicycles.
could you give me advice, please?
+Michal Sedlacek For something like the Pinky Count it doesn't really matter how old or new the pack of cards is.
+52Kards thank you. have a nice day!
Unless the deck is really old and the corners are bent it's hard to do it then if you know what I mean
will this work even if someone is staring right at your hands? Like is it possible to make this so subtle that they wont even notice? Or is it better to just do a strike double lift in those instances?
Trust Me, This Is Wayyyy More Invisible Than The Strike Double
eric shoff misdirection sir try asking them a question. most people make eye contact when you ask them a question.
Find the way to say the person's name, they'll most likely make eye contact
really good job thanks brah
i just cant move my pinky without moving my fucking ringfinger
Jv_cardoso02 same here, at least on my left hand
Yeah my pinky and ring finger move together....so I'm really struggling with this.
This needs to be done on both hands as I am right handed
@CardzMasterz he has in an old flourishing video on his old channel
i remember the pain I had to go through to learn pinky count. but sadly still i am not as good in pinky counting with my left hand as good as i am with my right hand. with my right hand i mastered in a day as it is my dominant hand. but after a month still i am having trouble doing it with left hand :( it makes me angry at my left hand.
How you have trained ring finger to be release when you are pushing pinky down?
I just can't, When I am pushing pinky, my ring finger is also pushing down and it is blocking all cards to popup, I don't now how to release ring finger.
Maybe you have technic how to get pinky working separately from ring finger?
xXSuRoKXx The thing i did was just placing the ring finger lower on the side of the decks so it doesn't sticks up so much. This however only works if you just want a couple of cards to pop up. Hope it helps!
Dinmhor Yeah, thanks, good solution, now I am able to count up to 40 cards)
U just gotta train it boi
that's great

Hi Asad,
thanks for the tutorials. Which technique do you use for 5-8 cards ?
I work on a trick there are 7 cards, I must make onehanded a pinky break under the 2 top cards. I am beginner.
Could u do a 2 card pushover tutorial?
I have a problem with that ..
I am right handed , but I am also a piano player , which makes both of my hand almost equally skillful , and I started to notice that in some tricks I hold the deck in my right hand , and in some , i hold it with the other ..
when it is about the mechanic's grip , i just can't use my left hand .
please tell me that it is not so bad ..
great instruction ty
thanks! it helped!
how do you do a pinky break at the bottom of the cards, like between last two cards at the bottom, like required in ambitious card routine? of course, riffling two cards down with the thumb is always an option, but I often end up riffling 3 or more cards, especially when the cards are a bit clumpy. any advise?
Hiie Asad, may you teach us how to do the pinky clip?(im not sure how its spelt) but i think its basically a move where you clip a card between the pinky and the ring finger at the base of the hand
thanks.
One of my favorite moves... Your DL is amazing, where did you learn it? Thanks!
I tried this for about 15 minutes after and thought it was really hard...
Until I realised I was using my non-dominant hand for some reason
Can you do a short tutorial on the move you did at 0:13 .I would really appreciate it Asad. THANKS??
btw guys use a soft deck like bee stingers,or anything that has aristocrat paper...you will find it easier
Would it be obvious if you use your thumb for counting?
If you mean count cards with the thumb of the same hand that's holding the deck, yes, that would be extremely obvious, how would you even get to pinky break from there?
Ryan Shaw yes you can count two cards wid the thumb then put ur pinky or ring finger under two card square them up with mid fingure and u r done
nope that would be called a thumb count and it's pretty practical.
Davy van der Schoot ya but thats optional if u cant get pinky count perfetly.. and its all about misdirection i some times just count top two cards with my right thumb (form behind) while holding the deck in left hand mechanics grip
How do I make ensure only 1 card comes up at a time Everytime I do it 5 cards just pop out
Your bevel isn't diagonal so when you pop the first card off the next card your pinky catches is a few down. Chances are the heel of your thumb is pushing the top 2-3 cards back to wards your pinky.
When I do the Pinky count, there are always two cards ord more that pop up. Any idea how to fix that? I have used a lot of different bevel sizes.
It's so hard for me, my hands are too small as my pinky finger can't reach the bottom of the dect😭😭
Can u use ur index finger to bow the cards more
(to anyone finding this comment) do that at the beginning a little when you lack pinky strength but it makes it WAAAY more obvious
I'm working on my pinky count but meine third finger always moves too to support. it's really hard to only move my pinky but that makes it a Bit more obvious for the spectator.
is this normal? Will this change with enough practise or is this a common problem for some magicians?
for some reason i find it easier to do with my thumb...dont ask why but i attract attention away from the deck and then do it and pick up the two cards without them seeing
that is the thumb count and it is alot easier but....if the spectator is burning your hands u might get caught if u do not cover that break in front of the deck ;)

ROOKTABULA Who in the world gives an actual fuck?
Can u do this on you right hand, even if you're right handed? I feel I have more strength on my right pinky.
Can you bend your pinky without bending your ring finger ?
Holy shit, this is hard.
I can't seem to do this with my pinky but I am able to use my ring finger?
The way you're doing it the spectators are going to see you counting cards. They may not know exactly what happened, but it's a tell.
would it work to do a ring finger break?
PRETTY NICE BACK,WHAT CARDS DID YOU USE IN THE VIDEO ?
Im having problems with this move i realise hiw old this is but any advice would be awsome
When i apy pressure for the count my ring finger naturally wants to apply the same pressure i cant push my pinky down and keep my ring finger straight
So im fighting my ring finger but im struggling to apply pressure to the thumb pinky and keep the ring finger loose any advice
Can you please do a tutorial on 0:56?
