It’s also fun to discard the rest of the deck face up, asking them to keep an eye out for their card. When it never comes, that makes it obvious that it’s the last three because they have seen every single single card.

Coach, you are clearly a product of your positive philosophy. This is a great trick, so well performed and clearly explained. I love how you always connect achieving excellence in the performance of magic to success in life at large. When you mentioned that the "charged" card - the fourth king -- had the power to attract the others, it led me to reflect on how a positive attitude and belief in ourselves, which you always encourage, can attract positive results in our lives. Learning and performing magic really does build confidence, teach us how to become more effective communicators, and to create fun for ourselves and others - valuable principles that you have helped me (and I'm sure many others) to appreciate and cultivate.

I did this trick with 3 selected cards few years back. Its the first time I'm seeing this can make it even with four cards. Actually we can ask the spectators to hide one card in an envelope and ask them to do themselves except separating the piles. That will be more exciting for them.

It’s all about the maths behind this and whatever the spectator is allowed to do is insignificant because you put the remaining parts of the pile exactly on the first part of the pile.
See this for yourself while performing this with a blue deck minus the queens and the queens from a red deck.

Great. But I still don't understand how the 3 will be left out if they just random stick it in there somewhere...

Watch as he gathers the four stacks back together, and think about how the bottom of the 2nd stack goes on top of the 1st stack. They're in a different ORDER now, but there are the same number of cards between each king.

Are you gathering the piles up in the correct order, so with the third on top, then the second and the first at the bottom?
