Dan and Victor ...the dynamic duo. This was Dan 'doing his Dan thing' and gave us a Christmas gift we wont forget. He respects the lyrics of his covers and emphasises their meaning. Thus "peace" was emphasised with an ethereal tone, "Fall on your knees" and "chains he shall break" were sung commandingly .. and the earth shook as he sang "let us all within us" when. the sinful entity within us is also called on to Praise. Dan finished the carol with joy on his face while his magical voice brought forth the triumph and power enclosed in the lyrics . "O Holy Night" .

Victor the Guitar Nerd played all the instruments. 😊 this really had me laughing my first listen! It keeps getting better the more i listen to it .. i think Dan and Victor really excelled on this one. 😊
I was driving the first time I heard this when it dropped. I, too, laughed the first time through. I had to park just so I could watch it again (properly).😂
@KerryNelsonART -- I was laughing the first time through, as well...not that it was FUNNY. I was laughing in TRIUMPH, and yelling, "YES! GO DAN!" I'm so happy to see reactions like this one. Of course, Viking did a wonderful reaction, and Josh (Meaningfully Vacant) did, as well (with his hair down). Such fun!
I sent a Reactr request for it, to see how Matt (Game t Changer) likes it. I think he'll really GET it, too. I sure hope so. He's another one who really FEELS the music...the best reactors always do. 😀

Agreed! Holy Spirit is ALWAYS telling me how much They LOVE Dan. What's sad, though, is that some of the people who were watching last night couldn't even SEE that.
In my head, just now, as I wrote that last line, I suddenly saw the comparison of the excited young man who was just turning 30, in 2018, declaring his faith at the end of his cover of "For All," where he was so excited that Roy Kahn was back to singing praises to God for all to hear, mixed with this slightly older (now just turned 34) young man really going the distance and giving God ALL the wonderful GLORY he can. How can Father, Son, and Holy Spirit NOT love this man, right?! 😀

Imo, the solo he did in O Holy Night was surprisingly gentle, yet rocking, I guess like Country Rock.
I admired his strength to hold back, bc he likes to rip it good & free through awesome sauce.

You might like Dan's rendition to "Sweet Child 'O Mine" by GNR (he stays pretty close to the original) or his rendition of "Zombie" (a cover of Bad Wolves cover of The Cranberries). On your intro I noticed that your were a roadie for GNR and The Cranberries. His Journey covers are great too. Really love his 80's covers.

Great reaction. Yep, Dan is a God for sure. Really though, you need to check out the instrumentalist here, "Victor the Guitar Nerd". The man is an absolute musical genius as well as being a ridiculously phenomenal guitarist!!. His TH-cam channel has LOADS of mindblowing stuff on it. His covers are gold, his originals are exquisite. He deserves everyone's love and support too❤

Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings in the comment section, but this actually doesn't sound good at all... Too many different styles in one song and it also sounds incredibly autotuned... So sorry, but I actually don't understand the hype with Dan in general and he has definitely ruined this song.
I understand this is not for everyone and of course you’re entitled not to like it. I personally think it’s epic. I’m only reacting to this comment to emphatically state that Dan does NOT use autotune. If you really listen to his voice you can hear him at times being ever so slightly under or above a note. This would not happen with autotune.
Dan definitely does not use auto-tune! I've heard him on livestreams, and he sounds just as good on those as he does on the videos he releases. What part of "he's had ten years of formal voice lessons!" do you not understand? I love how you knew that your take is awful and that you are going to get rightfully roasted for it! Kudos to you for owning that anyway. As for "too many styles", there have been only four other versions of this song that I truly liked; the rest were just "meh" at best and awful at worst. I've always liked the song lyrically, but most people sing it too soft and too wimpy. It's a celebration of the birth of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour! Dan and Victor finally gave the world a version that reflects all the power and glory and wonder that that event requires. First version ever that I truly love!

I wrote "sounds autotuned" and maybe I should have specified a little more what I meant by that... Dan's voice sounds metallic and no nuances to my ears + all recordings / songs with Dan all sound the same... So sorry, but as you write , we can’t all think alike :)

@@HelmaOsmond Yes, and I think it's extremely funny that @jvs9467 thought it was autotuned, when a bunch of others have wondered if he was singing FLAT in the first part.
He wasn't...either one. What he WAS doing was letting us see how the song usually feels to HIM, when it's under-sung, so traditionally that it's lost any of its original sparkle. Carlos (Viking) thought that maybe for the lack of vibrato at first. Actually, though, the vibrato is there...he just graded it down for the lower notes that he doesn't usually choose (though obviously he CAN, and so richly, too). But he NEEDED to have that first part be slightly tentative, in order for us all to fully appreciate the end parts. GREAT STUFF, DAN! 😀
