Dan promised us that he would turn the saddest song in the world into a battle anthem of power metal. Mission accomplished! It’s not just Dan’s voice and presence that stand out in this cover. The guitars are fantastic and the galloping drums are epic as well. Just awesome all around.

Dan, hands down... used to be Celine of course but it became old and sickly sweet.. so turned volume down when it played on radio.. now @ 72 I'm an old metalhead... Dan has created an anthem, that will never be sickly sweet and it will be as timeless as the original

Absolutely Dan!!!!! Have never watched Titanic, could never stand the slow, dreary, mournful dirge! But damn, Dan has fixed it and now it's a celebration - it's Dantastic! Thanks for your reaction and showing both versions - much appreciated!

That was a fun double-up! Thank you! That was a lot of fun. My husband was fixing himself some tea in our little kitchen (we live in a small in-law suite in the big farmhouse on the little hobby farm that we own half of, with our youngest daughter (of six kids), her husband, and their eight kids (all together we have 22 grandkids, and five great-grandkids), and he heard me laughing at your plea not to tell anyone else what you just said (because we're all your fast friends, etc.). He thought that was funny, also. Oh, and he agrees that Dan's new version is WAY better than the old one (though he and I actually both DO like Celine's voice...just not forever and ever and ever and ever, and...let's listen to something ELSE, now, OK?
So...yeah. Thanks again for your little round-up. You did great, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. 😀
REASON FOR THE EDITING...
I forgot to mention that Dan DID use a drum track, but I THINK that it was by his band's (Fearless') drummer -- Giovanni Rezende. I would like to refer you to another Dan song, that is entirely backed, in real life, LIVE, by Fearless, where you can hear Gio drumming (Gio is, presently, also Dan's "media guy," who does things like post Dan's daily Facebook Reel, on his page there. Sometimes he pulls pranks on Dan with those, too. Dan, Davi (Dan's brother), Gabriel Belozi (who arranged this video, by the way), and Giovanni are all friends from early childhood).
The video you should watch (and react to, I hope) is Dan's version of "Dawn of Victory." He had recently finished his new (garage) studio, with it's special lighting and black background, when Fabio Lione (from Rhapsody of Fire originally, and now from his own band Rhapsody, and who is also the lead singer in Angra) was doing a tour in Brazil. Dan invited him to come sing that song (which Fabio had sung so many times before--not sure, but I think he actually WROTE the song--may be wrong on that, though) with him and Fearless. You will LOVE the joy on Dan's face during the video, but...LISTEN TO THE DRUMS CAREFULLY! I won't try to link to the video, because this comment would probably disappear, but...just look for that song on Dan's channel.

This was a lovely but weepy song before Dan's brilliant musical brain reimagined it as a triumphant celebration of everlasting love. Dan's voice, Dan's singing, Garrett's guitars, fantastic arrangement by Dan and Gabriel. And then add in all the smiles and the volcanic energy - just wonderful. I thought that Dan was going to pop out of his skin at a few points. You may now like this song!
While the original is lovely, Dan's version is magnificent. No question, this is the going to be one of my all-time favorites. Thanks for doing this side by side comparison. Looking forward to your next Dan Vasc reaction.

This may be surprising but until Dan did the song I never heard it before - never watched Titanic. After listening to both versions Celine Dion did a good job but hers cannot compare to Dan's version - his is EPIC

These two renditions are two entirely different stories. The original is beautifully sung by Celine but it’s all about the loss and very melancholic. Dans version is the complete opposite. It’s powerful and energizing and his voice (need I say more on that amazing element lol!) There is no room for sadness…his story is all about the triumph of being able to have experienced the love and the joy of having it stay in the heart forever…right down to the smile on his face in the video. Love it! No contest, Dan all the way!!
Céline Dion has a beautiful voice, for the movie, Titanic, her singing “My Heart Will Go On” was appropriate. It was a sad sappy song that reflected what happened on the Titanic. Dan has taken this song and turned it into powerful, love anthem, same song, different era.

OMG listening to the original again - i'd actually forgotten how slow and sad it was . Beautiful but also played to death! Who would have ever thought you could do a workout to this song! Brilliant how Dans mind works! Love Dan and Garrets version , its actually not a cover - its a whole new song!!

I forgot how much Celine's voice quavered in the beginning. Yes, I understand about vibrato, but to me, the amount of vibrato used by her in the beginning of the song was a bit too much and came across poorly.
The contrast between these two versions is like night and day. Celine's used to help one get one drowsy enough to sleep, while Dan's cover energizes and awakens a person.
I had the same problem you had while watching the video for Celine's version: was busy trying to determine how many of the scenes I remembered instead of paying that much attention to the song itself.
The icebergs would have melted if this song had been on the Titanic!!

Dan wins, hands down. While I give you that Celine has a nice voice, I have never liked the type of music she sings. I have always preferred rock & roll, rock, metal and blues.

There is no vs. for Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On.. 1) This was recorded almost in the first take 2) There is no autotune/pitch correction in the original version 3) Dan Vasc's version has pitch correction and lots of other effects, too.
Dan recorded this in his garage, he didn’t have the luxury of recording in a High-Tech studio. Also, Dan doesn’t have someone walking around filming him at different angles. He has to use three cameras set at different angles. Then he has to splice the different angles together. That’s when he uses pitch correction. All of the camera angles vocals have to match up. All artists on TH-cam who use different angles in their videos have to use pitch correction. They are not using pitch correction to enhance or change their voices, that you are implying. Dan has a video where he explains the whole process. Do yourself a favor and watch it.
